Back in early 80's I believe, the anti-marijuana commercial with the EMS's rolling in the young man about to receive an appendectomy while the whole surgical staff are smoking weed
(it goes something like this) "you say they should legalize marijuana; you say marijuana doesn't affect your decision making, you say marijuana doesn't affect your physical coordination"
and of course, the young man is totally freaking out lol
Since someone else went cringe first I’ll add this one. I was actually breathless after laughing when I first saw this one.
And this one (first skit) always felt like it should have been a beer or cigarette commercial.

@gem7 commercials allow people to be bold and creative in a way other media doesn’t. I used to enjoy watching the awards for commercials where I would never watch the Oscar’s.

Would not call this one the best, but definitely one that captured the feeling of a lot of folks.
This one always struck me as a commercial that would actually have been pretty impactful. No idea if it ever got released or was just a part of this movie.
And I’m always up for a good construction or tool commercial.
This has always been a personal favorite of mine and hits me right in the feels whenever I watch it. It is a shame it is for a product that didn't necessarily live up to the hype.

“We’ve Only Just Begun” started as a Crocker Bank commercial. Paul Williams and Roger Nichols wrote it as a soft-focus jingle, and Richard Carpenter caught it on TV. It became The Carpenters’ second big hit, remaining at #2 for four weeks, held off by I’ll Be There (Jackson 5) and I Think I Love You (Partridge Family).
It was also Paul Williams’ first big hit as a songwriter. He went on to pen a string of classics for Three Dog Night, Barbra Streisand, and The Muppets (yes, The Rainbow Connection was him).
I was late to The Carpenters. I kind of resented their soft-focus vibe at first, especially coming out of garage rock, soul & mod. But in the ’90s, they were reclaimed by the alt crowd, partly thanks to Todd Haynes’ cult film Superstar: The Karen Carpenter Story. That’s when I finally got it.
