Gender-Inclusivity from a (singular) trans/non-binary person

Some recipts at the bottom. *edit was to reformat recipts, edit to add update to the most recent one.

(meaning if another trans person is okay with you asking these things, cool, but there are many of us that find this extremely disrespectful so sometimes its better to error on the side of caution and maybe question why you even have the need to ask)

~~~~~~
For the love of all that is good and wholesome and cuddly...
(Please read my bio so you know exactly what all of these people had a chance to see before deliberately choosing to message me first)
I do not put my gender in my profile so that I can make sure a straight man who "only cuddles women" is "cool/comfortable with" me being trans/non-binary. I couldn't care less what that specific person thinks of me outside of a platonic context, even then, meh?
I do put my gender in my profile so that you can recognize I'm not the one. If you need to know what I have in my pants or what I "started with" so badly that you have to ask at all, but especially when you messaged me first, and before being curious about anything else about me, you won't like my answer. You shouldn't have to ask. This is a platonic cuddling site why would you need to know anything beyond my gender? (because that is separate from biological structures and the only time its appropriate to ask about that area at all is if you are my doctor or *my current/mutually potential sexual partner. Do people end up dating from here? Maybe, but even if that is your intention, that shouldn't be your first priority on a site that is explicitly a platonic cuddling site. There are other exceptions, but I'd rather not share them here as I don't need to give predators a handbook on how to make it harder for me and others to sus them out.)
I am open to cuddling anybody except people who are here to be predatory and weirdly specific about the gender they choose to cuddle and yet they come sniffing around me because a lot of people who claim to be a straight man who only cuddle women unexpectedly have a weird obsession with trans people and what's in our pants, but especially the trans people with an "innie" (regardless of whether you started with it or not.. Usually for A. You love that specific organ/structure so much you don't care who is attached to it, even if they look nothing like what society has deemed a cis woman "should" look like OR B. You fetishize trans people, both options are disgusting. You can appreciate people as they are without sexualizing or fetishizing. You can also appreciate someone's sex-appeal or be attracted to trans people without fetishizing us).
I consider this behavior a dog-whistle/red flag (from anyone, but it almost always is straight men online) for misogyny and some site-rule violations. I will assume this intention of you if you ask me. This is your information, if you message me with this kind of nonsense, I will consider it your consent to my unbridled response and whatever else feels necessary after I post this.
The karma will come back to bite you.
Most cis women who know that you're transphobic and who understand how misogyny works throughout all gender expressions will also know that this type of person rarely has their actual safety in mind either (only percieved/performative "safety" if that).
I am a kind person, and the amount of dysphoria and disgust I feel when people ask me that as if its their divinely-given right to get a verbal look-see and check (just like how many country's policies are starting to turn...) It makes me feel rage. You don't have to understand us to at the basic level of respect not asking such ridiculous, unnecessary, personally/medically/sexually invasive questions or to waste our time when almost everybody always asks us to educate them, to tell us what we had/have/plan to do with our bodies. We have lives full of all the same responsibilities and needs as you do, plus this and any other marginization we experience. We don't have time/energy to do even more free emotional/educational labor for every random we come across who has "never met a trans person before" (that you know of). Many of us struggle with job stability and other things because of ignorant/hateful people, please don't add to that.
Just believe we're what we say we are. If you don't want to or don't like it, feel unsafe around us, or just can't exercise any bit of self-control, block me or I'll block you. Simple as that.
Reciepts in order of recieving these messages all of whom list on their profiles:
Man
Orientation Straight
Cuddles Women
1.
I know people like to request photos for various reasons, but often times (even my own mother has done this when asking about my trans friends) people will ask "for a picture" just to get around having to ask about "what you were born with" even though that is not a very accurate way to guess. Many trans/gender non-conforming people have many types of presentations that are not always obvious, even if you "think" you know, you rarely do.
2.
This was a pro, so I just didn't respond because of the blurb that comes with attempting to respond to the message.
3.
Someone who maybe just never read my bio (I have not edited it in any way before posting this, you can look at it yourself)
4.
This one was straight-out
And it got even more explicit.
  • I suspect your post hit a maximum length, but "straight-out" is well phrased.
    I've had a few creepers of my own. One guy wanted to video chat me because he'd never video chatted "a transgender" before. He did seem to accept my corrections on that and a few other things, but wasn't interested in talking over text. He must have subsequently gotten banned, because I don't still have those messages (I usually delete when someone gets banned).
    I think most women here (including myself) will tell you that most men tend not to read the bios at all. They're just looking for ... well, best not to speculate.
    Pay attention to the red flags. And report anyone who seems to be after anything non-platonic, including dating. And especially if they threaten any sort of violence against you for not going along with their game.
    @IronLemon thank you, (it didn't cut off, it was intentional lol)
    Also, I'm sorry you also have to deal with this. Maybe if the site cares, they'll update the policies to be a bit more specific about that kind of stuff.
  • Too much drama
  • I feel bad that people on here are going through this.
    If anyone asks you something about your sexual organs, REPORT THEM. It's completely inappropriate and shows what they're really thinking about😒
  • @Persadio I don't think this is considered drama.
  • I didn’t mean to be curt. It just doesn’t need to be so complicated.
  • When I message someone for potential cuddles I don’t expect the conversation to be combative.
  • I’ve asked questions cautiously, because I genuinely want to understand.
  • @KuddlyKoala I appreciate you.
    I reported the last person for sure, but they just mannually put blocks on both our accounts so I guess I got my answer about the site.
    Unfortunately there's only so many places.
  • @Persadio
    I get that you ask cautiously, but is that the only/best way to understand trans+ people? Is this the best place and time to ask?
    There's tons of websites, online forums, youtube accounts, tiktok accounts that all exist specifically to educate.
    Is the caution you have when asking mostly for fear of your own comfort/getting called out? Or is the caution out of worrying about the other person's general mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing?
    If its mostly the latter, I would highly encourage you to at least say that upfront and ask if its okay like
    "hi, I don't have an interest in cuddling, I saw in your profile you don't want to cuddle people like me. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind if I ask you about your gender/sex. Can I buy you lunch or a coffee for your trouble?"
    Or especially if they are a Pro, "can I buy an hour of your time to ask you more questions about trans people?"
    Personally I don't feel there is anything wrong with having a preference to cuddle someone who is anatomically a woman or man. It's not necessarily about living ones truth. It's about personal preference. I say this as a very vocal ally of the LGBTQ community, with my own son being a rainbow child with a long term trans boyfriend. I have also cuddled people with penises. That said, it's important to realize that not everyone has the same experiences, history, and comfort level. Cuddling is all about consent, and it's ok to ask questions providing they are respectful and tactful that are pertinent to comfort level and consent even if those questions don't necessarily have importance to the ones being asked.
    A story I have shared before when it comes to this subject is one of a woman I knew from the site. She had experienced the worst kind of trauma imaginable from a man, and was hoping to gain back trust for humanity and experience touch again through cuddling. Because of her trauma she was very adamant about only wanting to cuddle women. She cuddled someone who was a trans woman, however she was not aware of her being trans. She still had male parts, and when my friend felt the erection brush up against her by mistake it was very triggering and devastating to her. It wasn't about the trans person living their truth, regardless of gender identity, because to my friend a penis, particularly an erect one, was a weapon used to cause harm. She felt very betrayed by this and ended up leaving the site less trusting than she was when she joined.
    I tell this story because I think often times people forget how important consent and trust and comfort level is for the other person. We often times are focused on our own, but don't consider others. It's easy to see it as an afront or to be insulted, and in many cases that's completely understandable and justified, however we don't always know the reasons and we aren't in their shoes.
  • @rainbowtree
    It is disappointing the different types of messages you've received and the personal info they've asked for. While the forums are open for many forms of discussions, this post started off heavily leaning towards venting about your experiences and venting is not allowed in the forums. In the future, it's best to block and report those who message you anything inappropriate so the site Mods can look into the situation and take any necessary action.
    I do appreciate you took the time to hide the identities of those who messaged you when making your post, but because they were private conversations, I do need to remove the images from your post. As for this thread though, I'll leave open as it looks like there's a good conversation going about the topic you brought up, but know if it does shift into politics we will have to take action (covered here under Stricter Enforcement on Political & Drama-Driven Posts).
  • @pmvines i see what you're trying to get at and I'm hoping its with good intentions and I did address that. I do warn in my profile to be ready to explain (because i give the opportunity to, I just don't like disclosing those valid reasons because I don't need actual predators having more ways to lie well). But I'm repeating myself now.
    I also show in the screenshots (which were taken down) that I did take the time to ask clarifying questions. I did take the time to at least give people a chance to show me differently and some do, but the specific things I shared were all examples of people who saw "genderfluid" on my profile and specifically messaged me out of all the many options of people to message in the searchbar. Again, starting to repeat myself...
    Your example, while it is a valid concern and unfortunate circumstances
    between two vulnerable people feels brought up almost in bad faith or out of ignorance. Because the stereotype of trans women being predatory is over-represented everywhere. And your friend also assumed all women are cis. And the trans woman probably assumed your friend didn't have that exact particular concern. These things do happen and I'm sorry your friend had that experience, but this conversation is about how invasive and harmful it is for cis people to expect/feel entitled to trans people's disclosure. Sometimes y'all feel so strongly that sometimes we actually pay the price with our lives, so usually those kinds of miscommunications/assumptions don't happen like that.
    Also, this is not to be political, this is just within the context of your comment...
    trans people have various sexes (including some who are intersex), "anatomically man or woman" is not accurate... I doubt you understand what I'm talking about and I wonder how much of an ally you really are if you're using that language...
    I'm not saying you're a bad person, I just have a hard time believing you really are being an effective self-declared ally. I am not of the opinion people get to call themselves allies, there's always something to learn.
  • @netrunner
    I appreciate your explanation.
    A lot of this is contextual and without the context, it wouldn't look like it matters, but it might come across as "political".
    I'm not sure how else to talk about my experience as a trans person without it being accused of "drama" or being "political" because everywhere I turn there's more politics restricting my body, my speech, and my expression so... i'm relenting to the photos being taken down.
    I'm trying my best to stay within the "no politics/drama" guideline (I must've missed/forgotten about the venting, that's my bad), without completely letting myself and my equal voice be censored into the ether.
  • Also thank you mods for banning the creep that specifically mentioned wanting to verify if I had a vag*** (only mentioning/repeating this because the screenshot was deleted and it is important contextual info)
  • @rainbowtree pmvines is one of the good guys. He has my respect.
    Everyone wants simple terms, preferably single words. Personally, I think we should use the terms "vaginal" to refer to someone with a vagina, and "penal" to refer to someone with a penis. (Yes, I know what penal means :smile:) I admit I haven't given much thought to people with both or neither.
    It's just not possible to talk about being transgender without being accused of being political or starting drama. Just report them (in forums, flag them) and move on. In the forums, the transphobes usually quickly out themselves, but you probably don't have to worry about people fetishizing transgender people. That will just be in DMs.
    The reports and flags are important. The mods are against bigotry, but can't do anything without flags.
  • @pmvines is indeed one of the good guys and has a long history of supporting the LGBTQ+ community on this site.
    The Mods here have a very difficult job and they do it very well. It is common for both Reporter and Reportee's accounts to suffer temporary sanctions because there are a large number of false or malicious reports, and it isn't always obvious at first glance who is telling the truth. It can take time to sort things out, but the good guys win in the end because the site supports truth, peace, friendship, and equality; and opposes bigotry, prejudice, ignorance and falsehood.
    The ethos of the site is to try and make everybody feel welcome. This includes people who are trans and people who tend towards being trolls but haven't actually done anything trollish yet. (There are very few people who need a cuddle more than an internet troll.)
    The site is based in the UK, where discrimination against trans people in most circumstances is unlawful.
    @rainbowtree
    I didn't see anything ignorant about his comment.
    😊
    That will be the extent of my comment here. Moving on...👍👍👍
    @rainbowtree
    You don't know me. But if you did then you would realize that nothing I have said is in bad faith. Calling it ignorant might be your opinion, but I disagree.
  • Okay, thank you for the context and input everyone <3
    I may be a little on edge in general, so thank you for your patience while also not diminishing my perspective.
  • oof genital preference can be a fraught topic even in queer communities
    long story short is, genital preference is valid because nobody should be forced to cuddle someone they don't want to, but we should carefully consider where those genital preferences come from and try our best to view people as more than what's in their pants ☺️
