@Adragayle it shows. Unlike you there are people who need to see visible proof that you are happy. You don’t owe them that. Nor would I want you to. Could you imagine if the whole freaking world was like The Truman Show? All performance with a curious lack of depth, sincerity, and creativity.

    Your words sparkle with happiness.

In case I don't see you, "Good morning, good afternoon and good night" 😄

Make everything that you say a prayer, make everything that you do the answer. I choose a smile because that's my choice, I feel for people, everyone, no matter what happened, who or whatever story. I want to think this isn't toxic, but we are all going through an awareness shift right now.

(This is my opinion I realize I'm just one guy trying to figure out life..throughout my life I have had both mindsets)

  • I think one of the best lessons that can come from this thread and topic is: Don't assume that the other person's needs are the same as your own. It's not just for embracing neurodivergent people - it helps all of us.

For some people, hearing the words on the left can be a much needed pep talk. For others, the right side meets their need for validation. For some, seeing people share the good inspires them. For others, seeing other people with similar struggles helps them feel less alone. Some people respond well to others being fully honest about their problems rather than confining conversations to lighter fare. Some people are barely handling their own troubles and hearing about someone else's just stresses them out.

    My advice: just ask!
    "How can I support you?"
"Can I be real right now?”
"Do you want advice, validation, or just to be heard?"
"Is now a good time to discuss xyz?"

And clearly communicate your own needs/expectations!
"Right now I'd like to just be heard, no advice please."
"I would like to be vulnerable with you right now - is that ok?"
"I'm feeling really down and need positive talk."
    "Tough love doesn't help me."
"Can we talk about you/something else for awhile? I need to get my mind off my own problems."

When we stop assuming the other person knows what we need and start actually communicating it, everyone ends up feeling better about the interaction.

  • Too many people nowadays cannot handle facing a little bit of adversity.
