Who’s your favorite airliner or who do you book with often? Do you rack up miles with them? Any horror stories?
Best experiences I had were with Scandinavian Air, back when I used to fly to Denmark a lot.
Don't fly that often so really it's just whoever can get me where I'm going cheaply, no preference really
I mostly drive where I can now. I don’t think I’ve flown since 2004.
AA royally effed up my trip to Austin in March, ended up canceling, and not to mention missing my plans to cuddle with one of the many awesome Texas cuddlers!!!
Delta ... but the modifications to its Medallion program suck. Have rarely had an issue with them ... as I jinx myself.
Delta is my go-to!
Southwest has never disappointed me. I put down the tables of all 3 and clean them all for passengers that sit next to me bc sometimes they're dirty but I mean, no issues other than that so far
I have mostly flown with Delta. But I believe my favorite flight, which I have only been on twice in my life, was Korean Air; they have the best service from what I remember. (But that was about 15 years ago)

I’m in Denver and a united hub. 1k flyer the past years. I rarely fly others. I fly 2-4 trips a month.
Horror stories? Nothing recent.
Good service recently: I had a connecting flight. Initially had a 2.5 hour layover. Inbound flight delayed. Landed 20 minutes before next departure. Departing flight held the gate for me alone! Finally I feel special!

For me, Singapore Air is my favorite. 18+ hours in the air goes by like nothing.
Used to fly often in the late 90's. Every 2 weeks for 6 months strait at some point. Not flying often now but feels like they are all the same. The airport is more important in terms of comfort and commute.
But the real question is : Isle or Window?
Posting photos of other people without their permission is bad, posting pictures of people that were taken without their knowledge, without their permission is 10x worse.
I no longer qualify to fly on Virgin Atlantic.
@Sooson Window all the way. I’m 6’1” and unfortunately the leg room for me in economy is terrible. If I sit in the aisle seat, I have to worry about keeping my legs in since flight attendants are constantly walking up and down the aisles and mowing them down with their carts on top of people getting up to walk around and go to the lavatory. Plus it can be a real pain sitting next to people who constantly have to get up out of their seats. I now book Comfort+ with delta and can’t go back (although their older aircraft that fly to smaller airports still have the limited leg room even in that section).
I fly United, about every other week for work, 1K member for the past years but probably won't be able to continue in 2026 considering the new requirements (and a likely surgery in Oct). United having a hub in Chicago and my living just outside Milwaukee, if anything goes wrong I'm only 1.5 h away. Last week I had my first "go-around" (we were close to land but then it was aborted and the plane climbed back into the air); a little weird feeling and of course, no explanation why it happened. Worst experience (and I guess the only real bad one) was when my father died and I received no help from the customer service person over the phone, saying that there were no seats to any flight to Brazil that day. I ended up finding several seats open in different routes on my own, which by the way, that's what I normally do: I choose the itineraries myself, and the company reimburses me (and I get the miles too). It's nice to get a free upgrade every now and then, but the whole flying thing is not as glamorous and it sounds. And I'm an aisle guy.
So I’ve been binge watching videos on people flying with Frontier. I’ve never flown with them, and after watching these videos I’d rather walk if given the option.
Sad to hear what’s going on with Southwest. They were my favorite airline for a while.
I like the points system with southwest! American airline is better quality and I like them too.
@Violetblanket I heard they’re changing the point system to where you earn only 2 miles for every dollar spent on an economy ticket instead of 6. That along with getting rid of unassigned seating and free bags - the things that set Southwest apart from other airlines.
Southwest is being restructured forcefully by an activist investor.

There’s all sorts of articles about how they’re changing the company now that’s its founder is no longer there to resist.
I’ve enjoyed that airline but if it becomes just like the others I’ll probably stop using it.
Frontier is now offering free checked bags in response to Southwest dropping that perk. I have a feeling there’s a catch to that though.
Fun flying fact:
Flying East to West, the flight path will be at an even number altitude (I.e. 32,000 ft)
Flying West to East and the flight path will be at an odd number (I.e. 29,000 ft)
Lots of variables go into what determines a particular plane at a set altitude. Short distance flights almost always at lower altitude. However the main data point is the type of plane, because all airlines over-rotate on fuel efficiency. Planes could fly higher but they won’t because of fuel efficiency diminished returns.
The may say it’s about the environment; it’s really about cost margins.

United has become my go-to. I normally fly at least twice a month.
Emirates airlines n Qatar airways both from Middle East are good. But the Asian airlines service is excellent. Cathay Pacific, Singapore airlines etc. good service, good food n good smiles. Most North American Airlines don’t know what service is all about. It’s SAD.
@sin67 Emirates is what all other airlines aspire to be. No American airline can even compare.
I am travelling tomorrow by Cathay Pacific. 15.5 hour flight from Toronto Canada to hongkong. But should be a relaxing flight as I will be travelling business class. A nice bed to lie down n catchup with the sleep on this long journey. Then a short flight to South Korea and then a cruise from South Korea to all ports of Japan and back by Cathay Pacific to Canada. The beauty about business was class flights is the advantage for using the business class lounges with premium drinks n food n a place to shower n freshen up. So, this makes flying long distance a bit easier I guess.
Flying in North America? They have no idea of what service is all about. No respect. All rushed! No courtesy with the staff as well as the public. It’s simple there is no respect at all. Everyone is ready to go to war for a slightest error or mishap. It’s sad what flying in North America has come to…
I swear by Southwest Airline's rewards program. It's the best one I've ever tried. (I'm a frequent flier/piloting student)
