Bartering for sessions

I recently had a friend, who is a Pro on CC, tell me thst she had a potential client, who after fsiling to negotiate a session for free, offered her an evening gown, no idea where it came from, that she politely rejected. I know that bartering was briefly a fad for high end items in the 90s..but never had heard about its attempted use until now! Is bartering a thing on CC? If it is...what would be an acceptable bartering item? I have several pairs of slightly used socks..would that work?

    The evening gown guy should be Reported. Could be indicative of much more problematic behaviour.

    Any requested variation from published rates should be considered only by experienced professionals, and even then approached with great caution. The underlying dymanic is all too often boundary-testing.

    Remember that the site is still entitled to its fee.

    Any departure from strict professional boundaries carries the risk of transference and counter-transferance, so be careful. It is not suitable for all clients.

    Yeah I've had a couple of newbies tell me their in school and asked if I'd adjust my rate substantially for them or take a massage for trade.

    @Auroradream that’s too bad, when I read that it was like a revelation for me. 😎 I probably won’t put that on my page but it’s an interesting idea.

    I actually enjoy projects and could see that as a beneficial trade. Good luck, if you’re in need of some handyman work, hope you find someone helpful.

    @Jubal there was a reality show for a while about two guys doing that out of Apple Valley CA.

    I was always mystified at how it could work.

    Clothes feels weird for some reason, but I would absolutely skill barter! If a mechanic wants to fix the automatic door on my trunk that only opens halfway, I will totally cuddle in exchange. 😂

    Or handyman work for sure. Hairstylist, mani/pedi, dog sitting. Absolutely!

    @AlyLauren That's not a bad exchange, I could cuddle in exchange for light handy man jobs around my house. 😁

    For example....My front door being repainted for snacks and cuddles will work out just swell for Me.

    I had a barter deal with a pro go badly. She has posted here in CC that should would be in my area for a personal errand. She was willing to exchange a cuddle for a drive from her hotel to the errand, and into her return flight. I love to help folks out, and it was in an area with which I am well acquainted. We chatted back and forth and work out the details.

    Seeing she was doing a good thing (her errand) that touch my heart, I wanted to help her out as much as I could. In the end, I paid for two meals out, picked her up from the airport, drove her to the hotel, paid for the hotel stay, drove her to the errand (which included a stop at a store she desired to check out), then to the airport for her return flight. The driving alone was about 200 miles, including tolls.

    What did I get in return? About 90 minutes of the worst cuddle I've ever had. First, she didn't change into cuddle clothing, but stayed in the clothes she had traveled in all day. Apparently cuddling for her means sitting there virtually motionless as her client holds her. The only movement from her came from her arms/hands, which we're texting the entire time. I might have taken it personally, but she said that if I ever wanted a travel buddy, let her know - she loves new adventures.

    Live and learn. I got to help out another individual. I know her idea doesn't represent the majority of cuddlers here in CC, pros or enthusiasts. I know, because I have cuddled well over 20 cuddlers from this site, and they were all great (and most were repeat cuddle buddies), with the notes exception. As the old saying goes, "Buyer beware."

    @Immersedwarmth it's very kind of you to do all that! Sorry it was a lackluster cuddle though.

    Maybe a barter deal would work better if you know the quality of cuddle, and the quality of whatever you're trading. @Katota don't wanna trade your awesome cuddles for a bad paint job on your door either! 😜

    @AlyLauren I would have done all of the above without the promise of a cuddle, so in the end I didn't feel like I got duped. Disappointed? Sure, but she was able to do what she needed, which was a noble thing

    I am all for trade and barter. I need some electrical work on my jeep, a certified!! massage therpaist, a hair cut, what do you have to offer
    Seriously though … in my Hilario tic herbalist life I have exchanged herbal tinctures or dry herbs or weekly meal preps in exchange for reiki sessions, massage sessions, chiropractic sessions …: etc

    I would totally be down for cuddle bartering. I thought it would be interesting to cuddle in exchange for someone’s expertise. I have so many topics I’d love to pick someone’s brain about.

    I’ve never bartered but I’m a dog sitter who does overnight stays in peoples homes and if a pro has a dog they would like for me to sit in exchange for a free cuddle session I’d be down since my daily rates are close to alignment with a lot of pros hourly rates.
