Public hosted meetup event protocol

If I host an event publicly, what is the protocol for who's invited?

Is everyone invited? Do my personal friendships create the party list? Or is this event for strangers to get acquainted?

if not, then what are the rules for:

  • banned individuals
  • blocked individuals by the host
  • pros and enthusiasts

Thanks!

@Dance_Culture these are great questions/ thoughts btw. These concerns are regularly on host(s) minds especially if it is a public event.

There is a big difference in public vs private in my opinion. If its private you are obviously calling all the shots so that works that way.

If you are hosting a public event I think it is a good idea to have it at a public venue. Thinking of some of the ones we have had, like city parks in major cities, common areas in retail shopping areas, hotel meeting rooms and lobby's Lots of people around including staff, and other visitors, the occasional law enforcement cruising the area, etc. who act like another set of eyes so to speak.

typically the host(s) put language in the invite that states that CC membership must be in good standing . If you have blocked someone or they have blocked you well, that might be awkward, but I got to tell you I have met people at these meet n greets and didn't think we would get along well, and now we are friends so you never know!

Pros and enthusiasts and don't forget Moderators all like to attend gatherings like these. Usually an unofficial rsvp list is started to get an idea of who and how many are coming. Friends will sometimes invite friends. I have found it is a great way to get strangers acquainted.

And I seem to have a habit of repeating this, but don't try to do everything yourself unless that's what you like doing. People like to help before, during, and after and I have found that Cuddle Comforting! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸ™

Oh and there is a meet n greet coming up in Knoxville near you in August! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

  • Thanks @OhioMike. Some good answers

  • Thanks @Bear 😊

I will be assisting @VitaminJ atthe Knoxville meet n greet in august and will be posting soon with a lot of who what where why and how’s soon. Be lookin for it y’all ! πŸ€—

  • @OhioMike thank you for letting me know. It will also be good to finally meet you after seeing all the post on the forum.

  • You definitely want to get their CuddleComfort usernames. It also might be good to check their reviews and ask those they've cuddled about their experiences. Others things to think about might be: Maximum amount of attendees, dresscode, rules, begin and end time, free or cost to attend, refreshments or not, allowing attendees to view the guest list in case someone they don't like is going like @OhioMike mentioned per blocked users.

There is lots of good information about how to host one of these things scattered around the forum, primarily on the sticky. If you want to discuss it on CC then as far as I can remember the key points include (assuming it's a public event: obviously if it's private you can do whatever you like):

    • everybody from CC is welcome (both professionals and enthusiasts)
    • free to attend
    • no cuddling (primarily for safety reasons: that's a very different kind of event)

People you have Blocked are absolutely entitled to come if they want to: and as @OhioMike has already indicated, people can be different in real life. Banned individuals are unlikely to know about it and cannot confirm their attendance, so they shouldn't come. However, many banned people are delightful in person.

  • @Dance_Culture I'd love to know if you plan one. I'm not terribly far away.

Thanks for the vote, I'm happy to say I would be interested in making possible a public event. In real life I love social gatherings!

If I've ever blocked anyone for any reason in the past consider yourself always unblocked and welcome to humanity.
