What movies have you come across that you made you think hard about your surroundings or look behind your doors and under the bed recently that you suggest others need to view

My favorites are the old Val Lawton pictures - The Body Snatcher, Isle of the Dead, I Walked With a Zombie, the original Cat People, all of those. More recent, Nicole Kidman's movie The Others and the original Wicker Man.

Though there were those times that I was watching horror movies, centered around postpartum psychosis or included pregnancy scenarios, like films Baby Blues or AVP:Requiem...While I was pregnant with my son 16 years ago. 😆
Yeah, I shouldn't have been watching those back in the day and while in my "delicate condition". 😜
😳 I was so terrified of possibly developing postpartum psychosis (after giving birth) I told my ex-husband to PLEASE PAY CLOSE ATTENTIONto me around my son. 😳
His response to me back then was...
"I think you're overthinking things and perhaps lay off the horror watching for a bit, come watch The Simpsons with Me😆. Lol! I say this because YOU opened up an IRA education account for the boy, and he's only 2 months old, Lol! With that being said, I think you're gonna be fine mentally as a Mother...But I will keep on eye 👀 on You, if makes you feel better! 😏"
He (my ex-husband) was a big fan of The Simpsons. 😁
Anywho....
Nowadays, no horror movie hasn't affected me in no such manner. I'm good! 😁👍

Not a horror fan... which is why killer clowns from outer space is one I'll throw out there. If the movie is so awful it's funny - maybe I'll watch it.

It was most definitely Paranormal Activity for me. We questioned every noise, open door, and were jumpy for weeks.
Shamylan's "Devil" i think it was called. 4 or 5 people or something are trapped in an elevator with satan and they don't know who it is. Then there's like Session 9, 1408, Unsane, The Strangers, The Others, Hills Have Eyes, House of Wax, The Invisible Man, when i was young, the original Resident Evil movie, It Follows, Insidious,and as a kid again, the episode of Goosebumps Night at Terror Tower.
Evil Dead and Evil Dead Rise
Aliens creep me out... so Dark Skies was pretty scary for me. I kept questioning every time a light flickered or dog barked in the middle of the night after that movie!

The absolutely chilling way people were treated and abused in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
Nurse Ratchet is still one of the best villains ever portrayed.
The Wizard of Oz. Oh so scary.
I don’t have a regular one. I loved the campiness of The Substance last year. This I loved the special scene with the musician. Something never done before that I’ve seen. The first Saw was phenomenal in regards to the story line. That people take their life for granted and don’t cherish it. I saw the first Halloween when I was 10 and I spit on your grave when I was 11. So not much fazes me. I’ve worked in Sanitation for over half my life. I use to clean up after auto accidents downtown. So I’ve seen some enough real “Horror“ stories to be desensitized I guess.
I do find them to be more interesting to watch and discuss now more then when I was younger.
Psycho always sticks in my mind as it was my first. Switched to taking baths for awhile.

I saw Death of a Unicorn and really liked it. It was the right level of scary for me. I mostly like scary stuff that's easy to disbelieve and doesn't mess with my mind.
@SamuraiLizard I agree that Signs is a great one. We used to watch it every year before going to the cornfield maze.
One of my favorites is Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds. I just saw that at the Classic Film Festival downtown. Tippi Hedren the lead actress said they would tie real birds to her body & throw them at her. She was actually getting hurt during filming. I'm afraid of birds so that's terrifying to me. 😳 Side note: She became an animal rights activist.
I like scary movies, I don't really get into gore. I really enjoyed behind the mask the rise of Leslie Vernon. Found it in a family video one day and it became a quick favorite. Many have said alien and that franchise is one of my favorites. I really thought the ring was filmed beautifully and the first time I saw it, definitely struggled to sleep that night.
