Virtual No Shows! 👻

I had a client book a virtual, agree to a rate, and we had a handful of messages about boundaries/expectations as I do with every client. He had a few positive karmas and it was a phone session.

Day of, he ceased communication. I messaged a few times, then let him know I was cancelling the session and while I would leave karma regarding the no-show, I am happy to update karma when a session is successful. He eventually messaged a day later and said he had stressful day and apologized. I told him I understand, and he asked to reschedule. I let him know that I require a deposit to rebook after a no-show. Later, he told me he'd rather have the bad karma than pay a no-show fee. I told him it's not a fee, I just need some of the session rate paid in advance to set aside time for him again. He was not happy and told me he was uncomfortable with that and that "life happens" so I should understand. So I wished him well.

I just went to his page and in the last 48 hours, has gotten three different one star karmas for booking virtuals and ghosting. Now I'm wondering if I should report? I don't know why someone would do this. I guess either way he's unlikely to get any other pros to book, given he has a pretty low rating now. 😬 but does this violate TOS? Or just a suboptimal client?

Comments

  • I don't think this technically violates TOS... just a suboptimal (to put it the most mildest terms) client.

    (But, then, i don't 100% know)

  • That's kinda what I thought. But idk either 😂

Very weird behavior. Especially because he had a handful of good experiences. Maybe he is just having a deeply strange week. Lol

But at some point since I posted this, he deleted his profile. 🤷‍♀️

    @AlyLauren

This is from the client terms:

    Cancellation Policy>

If you cancel within 12 hours of the appointment we ask that you pay half of the session price. This is to compensate the Cuddler for lost business as it's unlikely they would be able to find another client for that scheduled period at such short notice.>

It doesn’t hurt to report, the mods can give him a warning or whatever is appropriate.

Keep an eye on his status in your messages, I have a feeling he will undelete within the 30 day grace period!

  • @DeerLady thank you for pointing this out! I always forget about this policy and have never tried to enforce it.

Unfortunately, when I have had no-shows they typically block me or just disappear. It seems pretty unlikely that they would ever pay this but it would be good to quote the TOS and remind them. And maybe it will help to get these kind of people removed when they do this repeatedly.

Thank you for the reminder! 😊

  • This is mostly speculation on my part, ok?

Given how many pros he did this with in a short time, it may be a deliberate way to mess with as many pros productive time as possible (low cost and minimum effort for him to take away your earning time and that of several others).

  • ... which if you ask me,

  • You may be right @Jubal

I will never understand why people take the time and effort to just mess with people. I am busy enough with the positive things I do and the positive relationships I have that I don't need to make time to be a turd. 😂

But I like to remind myself that when I am spending time trying to understand weird or bad behavior, that I don't understand it because I would behave that way. It's a compliment to your character if you find those behaviors incomprehensible. 💛

  • “Messing with people” yes that’s been known to happen here. Made me think of another current thread about one’s profile being viewed overly frequently by the same person without a message.

  • @AlyLauren unfortunately there is a growing trend - at least in the USA - to attack people by disrupting their personal income streams. Doxing and swatting are extreme example, but even just flooding a sole proprietor with emails still cuts into productive time.

Or in this case, making appointments with someone (cuddler, barber, whatever) and NCNS - it's usually too late for the worker to book someone else in that block of time, so it's lost revenue.

  • I had one ghost and then they apologized but I had them prepay before I would do another session. They prepaid and ghosted again. They apologized again and told me to keep the money. At least I got paid for my time.

  • I personally do not find much joy in thinking that people have negative intentions, @Jubal....you may of course be right, but I prefer to consider an alternative: that some men have incredible anxiety surrounding meet ups with women, even virtually, and when they make the appointment, they have every intention of keeping it....but when it comes close, they retreat back into their shell, where there is at least a modicum of safety.

This work is difficult in many cases.....where very needy men visit profiles, want to schedule, do schedule, sometimes show up with burdensome desires, sometimes ghost.....requiring pros to be adept at dealing with emotional issues as well as with cuddling bodies.

You're worth every penny you get!
