Massage Therapy Vs. Cuddle Therapy

Just curious to know if anyone has had such a negative experience(s) in massage therapy either as a practitioner or patient that lead them to this site looking for platonic therapeutic touch?

Since OP's account has already been deactivated, I guess they'll never know.

  • @WriterGF... It's a shame, rly... 😆😆😆

  • Weird to post a thread & question and then immediately deactivate.

Pros who try to mix massage therapy with cuddling always make me wonder how they do this since TOS requires full clothing for cuddle sessions. It does seem like 2 very different practices. Each fills a different
    need imo

@g_w_t_w Agreed. They’re different things entirely. They may have a locus of overlap (obviously touch!) but they’re not substitute for each other.

As for the clothing, there’s many massage styles that are fully clothed. Not all require disrobing. Some like Thai massage would be a massive problem if disrobed. 🤨 Some of those stretches would be… excessively revealing otherwise.

As for combining massage and cuddling, I agree with @MTex they can be a nice complement with people you trust.

  • @lovingspoonfull
Actually that’s good to know about clothing and different types because that’s something I’m not experienced with. Thanks ☺️

  • Deactivate can mean anything.

    They might be back. No?

  • The massage topic gets brought up regularly it seems to me. I wonder if on the massage sites they discuss cuddling ?😆

  • An all out massage is one thing, but some shoulder and neck work can happen while clothed.

  • Massage therapy and cuddling can be combined in a session completely within the rules of CC and totally platonic. I've seen a professional who did a combo session. We started with the massage -- she left the room, I disrobed and got on her massage table, and it was a professional therapeutic massage with appropriate draping at all times.

At the end of the massage, she left the room again. I redressed in my comfy clothes and then we had a cuddle session on her couch.

Anyone else get their ass kicked while cuddling? There is touch overlap except one is in a decidedly painful way, but I allow it when I sense unleashed anger in my cuddle partner. I am a healer in that sense…a healer with really good health insurance and a high threshold for pain. If interested, just say Tyler Durden sent you.

  • The original post raises so many questions. What kind of negative experience? And how would a cuddling site help with that?

My partner went through massage school and is a massage therapist. Seems like a pretty legit and positive thing to me, on the whole.

Some cuddle professionals who are also massage therapists separate them, and some combine them.

  • @g_w_t_w I got a massage once at a local Korean spa. They put a sheet over my entire body. No oil & no skin was directly touched. It was a very nice feeling.

  • @Bear
I’m learning more about types of massage now. I haven’t gone to a Korean spa though it’s on my list. When I’m in S Korea I never hear about them. I had thought of getting acupuncture though.

  • @Bear Have you ever been to King in Niles ?

  • I've frequently had fully clothed massages as one of our local studios only offers fully clothed options. It's different than the typical spa massage, but still super effective. Especially if you are seeking more pain relief and injury prevention vs relaxation, exploring different modalities is a good way to go.

Cuddling is not a replacement for massage, massage is not a replacement for cuddling. You wouldn't see a dentist to get braces, and you wouldn't see an orthodontist to get your teeth cleaned or a root canal. While adjacent practices that often have overlap in care, they're still different specialties.

While there absolutely are pro cuddlers who are trained in massage and offer both, it is incredibly important for them and the client to understand how the two are separated and where ethical and legal boundaries may apply.

  • Feel like this question is aimed right at me. I'm a male licensed massage therapist of 4 years. I had an incident giving a massage where a male client sexually assaulted me during the session. It really impacted my view of all men I didn't know.

A few years later working through it, finding this site and doing cuddling with other males was a big breakthrough in me being able to feel safe and trusting around other men again. Very grateful for this experience!

  • @g_w_t_w thats where I got the massage

  • I've not experienced cuddle therapy but have enjoyed massage therapy. Nothing inappropriate has ever happened to me. All very professional. I've fully stripped but the sheet/towel are always where they are supposed to be and the hands have never wandered. Nothing but positive experiences for me. So I don't seek cuddle therapy as a result of a reaction to massage therapy, simply because I have not had touch in my life for quite a long time.

  • This is like comparing an oil change to a tire rotation. It’s not the same just because the same people can do both. Not sure why so many people compare the two.
