Hey all,
I know I haven't been very active on here in a while, but I could really use the support of some friends. On top of all the financial, physical, and mental stress I'm going through with moving, I'm now facing an impossibly difficult decision.
CW: pet euthanasia
My eldest cat, a former feral foster fail I've had for 10 years, has been dealing with a number of health and behavioral issues. Due to low income and my own health issues, I've been trying to rehome him since the pandemic, but no one wants to adopt an elderly cat with so many expensive issues. It's now being recommended that I euthanize him, and I'm completely broken feeling like I've utterly failed him and the added strain of further costs. I'm making the appointment now, but I'm struggling so hard. I've not had a pet put down since I was a teen, and this feels so much worse than the death of my last cat as I feel so responsible for the whole situation.
I hate sharing something so heavy, but I just really need all the emotional support I can get right now. I know no one can fix this and yet things will work out somehow, but I'm just so heartbroken and grieving. I'll be ok, I have mental health support and a few friends around, but I'm reaching out where I can to try to get through the next several days.
Please, if y'all could share some cute pet videos, pics, funny memes... Just anything to distract me. I truly appreciate our little community and all the friends I've made here
