Limits on Daily Messages for new enthusiasts

I am certain this has been brought up before, but it needs re-addressing.
When I signed up, I saw this on the sign up landing page. "Full communication. No barriers " A daily limit to the number of messages I can send is certainly a barrier to full communication! It doesn't matter if they messaged me first.
The system sends a message when I have 2 messages left. I have no idea how many I am allowed to initially send per day or when/what time that limit resets.

My communication style is exactly how I text someone. I don't send large chunks of texts, I send in paragraph style as it is easier to read and less likely to be skimmed over and pertinent questions not answered. For instance, I just recently responded to a delicate cuddling session question. I sent 3 paragraphs to the same user, and it counted as me sending 3 messages which I wasn't aware this would happen until the system sent its message I only have 2 left for the day.

@Mark
@Gary
Would an Admin please contact me and let me know if this information is displayed somewhere as I am not able to locate the #of daily messages allocated, reset date/time, etc. If this information is not readily available to users, that certainly would be requested to do so.
*The sign up page needs a New user disclosure note annotating the limit for new users and a link to this policy
* I am a mobile cell user
* If sending a response to an Admin counts against my daily limit , that needs to change as well.
Thanks so much 😊

    I think it's a misunderstanding. You can only send up to three messages without getting a response otherwise the system thinks you're bombarding somebody with messages once they respond you can send messages again to them. I have never heard of daily limits.

    *This is the message I have received from the system. And it does apply not only to the user I am responding to but any new messages to others .

    Huh? 🤔 Wow, that's news to me. I guess I never reached that limit. I wonder if it's to avoid bots. 🤷🏻‍♀️
    I wonder when you get past that "probation period"?

  • I never knew about this either but I don’t send many messages.

    Copied from the link "messages and searching" on page 1 of FAQ thread

    I can't send any messages!

    There is a limit on the number of people you can message per day, which is set to a low value for new members but increases over time. This is just to prevent spam.

  • I’ve been on the site for 3.5 years. I have received that message recently but maybe only once? Maybe I’m not sending enough messages. Ive also been a Pro here in the past.
    So does the messaging limit only apply to Enthusiasts? And not to Pros? It’s all about money I guess? Interesting.

  • That is in place usually for new accounts to prevent spamming I believe . Perhaps a mod.can clarify

    The limit is high but it is there. It is to prevent spam, misuse etc. It isn’t insubstantial. If you type the way you text now might be a moment to think of a longer introduction for the time being. You’ll get past it by staying in good standing. It’s for the well-being of all our members.

    As the length of time your account has been active increases, so will the number of messages you can send daily. Most members with an account older than 1 month do not run into the messaging limits with normal usage habits.

    The details of the secret sauce behind it have not been made public.

    "Without barriers" is meant to refer to a paywall or premium account status requirement, which is common on other sites.

    as I said above, I’ve been here for several years and I’ve only recently gotten the warning about message limits. In the past month or so.
    I never did as a Pro. Is it only Enthusiasts who have a message limit? I understand if that’s the case.
    Thanks.

  • @g_w_t_w - I know of at least one pro that has neared the daily limit (which is a lot) lately, but I'm unaware of any recent changes.

    @cheeseboy Firstly, I appreciate your responses 🙂
    "The details of the secret sauce behind it have not been made public."
    I understand the limit to prevent spam, but that limit should be conveyed to the user so that we can pick wisely whom we choose to respond. It also makes a person that I have connected with initially feel unvalued because now I have to decide to respond to a new user or continue to chat with someone I have built a rapport . This limits interaction which is not what I thought this site was about. I thought this site was about connection.
    It is also a matter of being transparent on your site. If there are rules in place, they need to be clearly conveyed. Not left up to the user to be in the dark and unable to communicate.
    Thanks so much for all the comments and to those that were trying to be kind 😇

    “I’m a brand new user of a completely free web service. Here are my immediate complaints...”

    NB: I think my position is clear enough.

  • @MonkeyNeedsAHug- What did Cuddlinghugs say that "upset" you- and why? There shouldn't be anything wrong with expressing concerns or asking for clarification on a site like this. Communication is already limited and restricted. These are valid "complains" regardless of how long someone's been a member. Making fun of someone or dismissing their opinion isn't helpful or in any way encouraging, much less welcoming! 😢

  • @Cuddlinghugs - thank you for the constructive feedback, I've pointed the admins to this specific thread.

  • I could understand that the limit is to prevent someone overwhelming another with an avalanche of messages. For me, I had written some short sentences, like a train of thought but in separate messages, like impulsive as the thoughts hit me. Made perfect sense and I got the point.

  • I think the "no barriers" text should be updated to something more appropriate. And what does "full communication" supposed to mean?

  • So ... (just thinking/typing out loud)

    ... someone could get a number of messages past their daily limit of messages sent? It feels like one of two things should happen in this scenario:
    1) There should a limit on how many messages you can receive as well. This feels ridiculous to me, but if someone responds to me say a 1001 times (because I am that popular 😏) but I can only respond a 1000 times ... that feels like a problem.
    2) or a message received adds to the daily limit. So then the limit is applied to just new messages or duplicate responses. (This feels like it would help limit spam while allowing the user to respond to as many people as had messaged that person).

  • Some people are really over-thinking this. If it’s a rule then it’s the site’s decision and we accept it. I’m always surprised at the members who think they should get what they want and that the owner is obligated to provide for their every need and inspiration to make that person’s life easier.
    If CC required a paid membership then I would understand the expectations, but they don’t (yet).

  • I'm pretty sure this is a conversation limit, not a message limit. It doesn't matter how many messages you send to any individual user, it's about starting new conversations. If you are at your limit, you can't message anyone that you have never messaged before. But you can send all you want to people who you have already contacted.

  • I'm going to err on the side of the site. Never had an issue messaging when I first joined.

    @Cuddlinghugs will also want to be more discerning because not every guy needs a response. Enjoy the attention but it will get old. Some of the women here should PM her to help give advice.

  • Wow, I’ve been on the site for years and have never even heard of there was a limit.

  • I’ve been here a long time and I learned something new about the site today. Unless Mark decides to change it, this is what we have. Considering it’s not a paid site and I’ve seen loads of complaints and ways to improve the site, with out much change. Learn to navigate as is.

  • No one told me the site was free.

    I am amazed at the number of people that are saying because a service is free , that I should lower my expectations of receiving the service that was originally promised. I am a gamer and play many free games with the option to purchase, but still free to play and free to chat with other gamers during my game time. If a gamer reads the description before downloading and that game is offering full communication to other gamers, no barriers, and completely free so the gamer downloads it . There is no notification about any changes to the way your game play will be affected after establishing your gaming profile . You play the game, chat with multiple users, and in the middle of your gaming experience you receive a message saying you are reaching a limit and now only have 2 messages left to chat with other gamers. The gamer then thinks, WTF [what the fudge] that is not what the description said and there was no notification as to any changes of the service that was expected. 80% of the gamers would be filing a bug report to the developers as to the message and if not a bug ,why a notification wasn't sent or why isn't anything on your website clearly defining the restrictions in place.
    I am not asking for anything other than to receive the service that was offered. I am only asking for full disclosure of what the restrictions are and to be clearly defined. I have no problem with following rules, but why are you hiding the fact they exist until I am warned, why aren't you clearly making them known in advance to new free enthusiast as it seems we are the most prone to having these restrictions placed upon us.

    If a business's advertising is intentionally misleading and the restrictions are not clearly and conspicuously disclosed upfront, it could be considered a deceptive or unfair business practice. Advertising a service as "full communication" when it is not would fall under this.

    I am only left to think that the free offer was to build your customer base , but restrict the free enthusiast from full communication so that the inability to respond leaves other users seeking services to turn to a pro.
    You have falsely advertised and I will no longer be the bait to lure users here with false hope of real connection when you have placed communication restrictions on me and others without full disclosure.
    The best to all of you.

  • Give them a chance dude. A moderator on here already took your concerns to admin. At this point you are arguing with others opinions about what “free” should entail.

    They may still change it to unlimited messaging so you can be rejected more often than you already are.

  • I've been "around here" for going on 9 years and never seen that message before, but if you're a new member I can see how that would be frustrating. If you're sending too similar of the same message to multiple members, the system will flag it as spam. The more creative you can be, the better!
