Why did you become a cuddler?

  • Because I wanted to do something with my life that had meaning, made a difference, and allowed me to be my authentic self. Of course this is only a facet of who I am, but it is an important part of what makes me who I am. I try to be compassionate, level headed, kind, honest, and genuine in every aspect of my life. Except in traffic. That's not possible. 🚥🙆😅💜

  • Hi. I love all your stories. It’s definitely been beneficial, to say the least.. I started because I generally stay alone and it’s really nice to have someone kind, to share close moments and connect with. Thank you, to whoever put this platform together. 👏🏼🥰🫂💜🎵 I love sharing the site with anyone I can, as well. People’s eyes light up and they’re so curious.. I love it. Thank you ☺️🩵

  • Became a cuddler because physical touch is incredibly important. There are plenty of psychological tests that prove this but the one that stood out to me is where the baby does not get picked up. The results were heartbreaking in showing how this affects development, emotions… it affects a lot.
I love interacting with others and connecting since I’m definitely an empath.

  • I don't think I became one, I simply was always and I'm still. My body desires to hold and be held consensually by somebody safe. It basically always did have that desire too.

  • Though I will add that besides the body based 'needs', at times I do also get the desire to either be taken care of and or take care of another going through a hard time. In which case the cuddle with the right person becomes more intentional and healing focused. As opposed to a more superficial approach of just having someone to hold and be held by. Sometimes however there may also be overlap.

  • @MissPamelaV - I've seen a similar study. I don't know if it's the same one you're referring to, but it's hard to watch the baby go from confused to distressed to feeling withdrawn and hopeless in such a short 2-minute window. https://psychhelp.com.au/what-does-the-still-face-experiment-teach-us-about-connection/

I've really enjoyed reading everyone's stories about why they became a cuddler (or why they consider themselves one by nature) ... great stuff!

  • Of course the usual benefits of cuddling physically and emotionally, feeling connected, finding like-minded people and all that jazz, but the other reason is to have an avenue through which I can experience intimate connections more regularly that don't turn out to be secret ploys by the other person for something sexual.

Not only is the sexual side of me just one small aspect of who I am as a person, people communicating what they want clearly and maturely is a skill I highly value, and sites like this with a very clearly platonic premise facilitate that kind of honest communication. ☺️

  • and sites like this with a very clearly platonic premise facilitate that kind of honest communication.

So true. I love that honest part.

  • Well I've always sort of felt lonely since childhood (being an only child for 16 years and then having 3 much younger siblings), so I often would stay in my romantic relationships for as long as I possibly could, even to my own detriment. Basically it would end whenever the other person was tired of me and/or found someone else to replace me. Near the end of a long term relationship we felt more like roommates, which did make me sad. The cuddling had long stopped before it ended.
I had been on all sorts of dating apps some time after that, jumped into a very short relationship (which had almost no cuddling) and ended it, made online friends in various places, and one of them was talking to me about my past and said that maybe what I needed wasn't a relationship, but a professional cuddler. They showed me a few different links on cuddling, including this website, then I registered, and been enjoying my time here ever since, without feeling a need to be in a romantic relationship. If I happen to meet someone and it happens someday, then it happens, if not that's fine too. Cuddling and the discussions here have helped a lot with fulfilling the need for touch, as well as feeling better about myself and loving myself more. Sometimes I even think about what if I get into a relationship and I have to make the choice between them and being on here. My hope would be that they'd be understanding, but more than likely it would end in my profile deactivated. Anyway I'm just glad to be here.

  • I became a cuddler because I failed as a coddler.

  • @BoomerSpooner but have you tried being a cobbler or a muddler?

  • I'm a naturally cuddly person but I find that even I don't feel like I get enough touch.
All my life my friends, family and even strangers I've just met have told me that I make them feel comfortable and safe, I cherish this feedback and try to use it to help people in any way that I can. <3
I have chronic health issues and struggle to work for other people, since I have pain flares, they usually fire me after a while.
I also (sorry if this sounds crass but its just truthful) love business, I have been trying to find the right business for myself for years.

I was searching for businesses I could run and this popped up on a list.
I was instantly drawn to it and did all the research I could, I ended up finding an online course and got my diploma! =)
I've always been made to feel like I'm too cuddly, or that it's weird that as an adult I love to cuddle so much, but a lot of people don't realize how much we need it!

So doing this work, I get to help people gain more touch in their lives and reap all the benefits that come from that, to help people be more social and confident, to meet lots of awesome people, do something I adore as a career and watch people grow throughout our sessions.
I've already seen some of my clients gain confidence in other areas and my gosh, its so beautiful to be able to help people in these ways! x

  • @Lev136 nice to see your post! Thinking of you and sending you a hug!

Platonic touch is a real need—maybe not for all of us, but some of us (most/all on CC probably—quite frankly I think it is a niche need and not a universal) and being a cuddler helps to fulfill this need.

It’s a lot more difficult to bring this up upfront on dating apps or when meeting people socially without looking like a creep because people always read into it as wanting more, probably due to past experiences etc

Also there is a lot of hidden judgment/shame around men admitting they’re “touch-starved”.

And why would anyone go Pro?
The thinking goes: “If I’m gonna go get cuddles, why not also get paid for it”

Obviously though, if you are a Pro, the focus then shifts more towards what the client wants (consentingly, Platonic, safely for both) instead of the mutual give-and-take because of the money exchange factor.

  • I came here out of curiosity and I will admit skepticism. I am not ashamed to admit that it has been transformative and my cup runneth over with friends I never expected to have. I am a convert.

  • I've become a cuddler because I genuinely enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and walks of life; I love bringing positivity to others and I think there's something healing and connecting about physical touch with others 🩷

  • I needed some hugs and to rest my head. And rent goes up every year

  • I became a cuddler because I’m a natural comfort-giver with a big heart and an even bigger appreciation for human connection. I’ve always been the person people relax around, and cuddling felt like the perfect way to turn that gift into something meaningful. It’s warm, grounding, and surprisingly powerful—sometimes all someone really needs is a safe place to land.

  • Stumbled here out of curiosity.. traveled a ton for work and thought this would be cool to try..

  • @CSnMUS87 There is also a third possible outcome regarding you choosing between professional cuddling and a new romance: Your new partner loves to cuddle too and you finally find what you've been looking for. I like that outcome the best 😗

It's just a neat thing to do and an interesting way to meet people. I don't get into the whole pseudo psycho babble, or try to over think it, or try to turn it into something more than it actually is. Some people try to promote it like it's some.sort if life saving miracle water, turning it into snake oil. Which is both absurd and dangerous. Also kinda weird in my opinion. Cuddling for me is just a fun and cool thing to share from time to time with people who I connect and care about. That is all.

  • @pmvines - And here I thought you were in it for the big bucks.

  • @BlueIris

That and the poops jokes 😂

  • @CuddlyKitten79 I am with you on that being the best outcome.

  • I started cuddling when my country needed me too. I have a government active duty cuddling id that gets me 10% off at Starbucks and 20% with some CC cuddle pros.

  • I'm fairly new, no experience cuddling with people yet. What brought me to this place was a bit of a journey of self-discovery.

I was in a bit of an online relationship, about 200+ miles from me, but some months ago, we talked and ended up redefining our relationship to friends with benefits, which made sense to me. About a month after that, I had enough money for me to seriously thinking about traveling to meet my friend for about a week. After talking with her a bit tho, she expressed that she actually doesn't feel comfortable being touched, and even tho we talked about the possibility of me staying a week at a hotel to meet and spend time with her before, the more that it became a real possibility, it became scary for her.

After that, I did some soul searching. I'm ok with having friends with benefits, and taking care of my sexual needs myself, but it still hurt. That's when I discovered that physical touch is important to me. I was (and still am) working on myself and discovering other things about myself as well, but one of the things I would think about is how to get my physical affection needs met... Then I had kind of a silly thought/expression of my frustration.

"There's one night stands, right? Those are socially acceptable, yeah? Are there such a thing as one night cuddle buddies?". I ended up googling it, and found this site. I lurked a bit, read some of the FAQ, and other people's posts about their experiences, before deciding to finally construct a profile. I've still got a lot to work out with myself, but I'm slowly making progress.
