I am visiting Williamsport Pa and sent out a Request to a provider who was local. No reply till the next day when she asked for photo pass. That was 4 hours ago. Pointless unless you communicate
It's going to vary widely between people and even from day to day. My best piece of advice: communicate if you have time frame expectations. If you want to hear back within a couple hours/a day/etc, say that. People have different definitions of "timely communication", so assuming everyone follows the same expectations is rather futile.
But also note that a lot of people don't check the site regularly, and email notifications may go to unprioritized folders, etc. Especially when initially making contact, it saves yourself a lot of headache if you assume they're not going to respond - then you can instead be pleasantly surprised if/when they do.
I don't.
I don’t check my email for that. I just logged in a few times throughout the day. I have not yet received any feedback regarding lack of responses. 😊
I’ve never checked email for notifications. I try to log in multiple times every few hours or more if I can. if people message me early in the morning (5am-10am) I’m asleep and don’t log on haha.
Also definitely recommend sending a photo in an intro message to someone that way you already let the other person know who they are chatting with and potentially meeting with so they don’t have to ask, I love when people do that personally ☺️
When I’m feeling brave! Some of these messages make me want to disinfect my eyeballs!! 🤮
I don't check my email .... I just log in through out the day and check my inbox
I would think this is the primary approach to checking messages on this site.
I get an email alert so I come get my message, but I'm sure I get a lot fewer messages as someone new with no Karma yet, but I'm trying. 🤣
I get alerts and email notification and I try to peek every few hours anyways
As a guy, I check for responses twice a day. But, I wish there was a way we could see when our requests were opened. I’m often twiddling my thumbs wondering if they even received my initial message.
That would be a great feature, but i dont think they would add it here.
Read receipts can often lead to more drama and conflict rather than less. The better way to operate, in my experience, is just to keep low expectations regarding replies. If we operate from a place of not expecting the other person to reply, or to do so in their own time, then it makes it a lot easier to deal with if we don't hear back from them or if they take a long time.
I have it set to get an email notification every time I get a message on here so pretty much anytime I get a message. I respond as soon as I get a free moment.
