Transgender Day of Visibility 2026

This year, TDoV has extra meaning, as we're also remembering the life of a community leader who sadly died recently (thankfully, just of natural causes). They fought not just for the queer community but for all marginalized people. The gatherings will include recorded interviews for the local queer history project, and I'm sure they appear not just as interviewer but also telling their own stories.

Here's the email announcing the TDoV events, minus details about the events, but written more eloquently than I can.

As this lands in your inbox this morning, we’re preparing to gather for Transgender Day of Visibility — tonight, and again in the days that follow. Because this is something we live, and something we return to, together, in community.

As a proud queer, transgender person, this isn’t something I observe from the outside. It’s something I live inside of—every single day.

Right now, trans people are being villainized, criminalized, and demonized—especially by those in power. There is so much misinformation being spread about who we are and what our lives look like. That impact is real. It shapes how we move through the world, how safe we feel, and whether we feel like we belong.

Which is why gathering like this matters so deeply.

...

Visibility is not just about being seen.

It’s about being held.
It’s about being heard.
It’s about being in community.

If you are part of the queer trans community—these gatherings are for you. This space is yours.

If you are an ally, or someone who wants to understand more—this is your invitation. Come in. Be in the room. Listen. Show up.

These gatherings are for everyone.

Allyship matters—not as a concept, but as a practice. Showing up. Listening. Standing alongside your neighbors.

  • I fucking hate this day, it's just a reminder that I will always be in the closet, and I will never ever be seen as a woman.

Even in death there is no hope, I have seen what lies beyond death, there is NOTHING. NO LIGHT, NO SOUND, NO FEELING, NO HOPE.

  • I genuinely wish my parents got an abortion.

  • @Phoebe7 I wish people could just accept themselves for who they are. There's NOTHING wrong with being male and there's NOTHING wrong with being female. Once someone "transitions" they're actually NEITHER and that's a COMPLETELY different version of "being". The grass isn't always "greener on the other side"! There have been SO MANY who've "made the switch" and wished they hadn't.

  • I’m here 🌸 always ready to support 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️

  • Thank you for making this post, and bless all the trans fam! May we be strengthened, protected and greatly blessed for being who we are. It’s been a powerful time. Our county commissioner in Lincoln County (Oregon Coast) died last year due to health complications. But I do believe the severity of them had partially to do with the hate Claire received from parts of the community. So rest in peace and power Claire. She was a beautiful woman who did a lot of good and deserved so much better from her community!

I have noticed an influx of outspoken a**holes in the community the past year or so. And have had some unpleasant interactions and hate from people for no reason than me being trans. But I will say, I notice yes there is higher pressure and scrutiny, but there is also more attention and weight to our words. There is a platform out there to be heard more than ever. And even if we have been deemed a scapegoat distraction for reasons. Our voices matter. And we can really shape the perception into something beautiful by being our loving, resilient selves and shining. And move away from this ignorant narrative of being clowns and criminals. We are the brunt of jokes because people don’t have exposure or understand us. And that can change. And I hope it does.

So much love to the community and those that wish to support it. 💕

  • Nothing but love and support for trans people here ❤️🏳️‍⚧️
@Phoebe7 I'm sorry you're struggling. If you ever want to talk I'm here to listen.

  • As someone who has trans loved ones, any amount of visible/vocal support is greatly appreciated. As always, @IronicMaiden , thank you for your vulnerability and resilience.

We listen so that we might learn.
We speak up to amplify the voices of those who cannot.
None of us are truly safe until all of us are.

May everyone find a safe space to be their true selves 💖

  • @great_pillow08 If you're talking about detransitioning, first off, I'm surprised you'd bring that up in this thread. And as I understand it's typically due to social pressures, people being ostracized and rejected. I've never heard of detransitioning preventing suicide, where as the opposite, being able to be who you truly are, has repeatedly been shown to improve mental health including preventing suicide.

Also, it isn't true that someone who transitions is neither male nor female. Perhaps you're thinking of agender or maybe non-binary, which do fall under the trans umbrella, but I for one am definitely a woman.

  • Love and support to the community ❤️ 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️

  • My girlfriends are women who are trans.

  • This is such a great post!! Thank you!! I hope everyone has a great tdov and if any of my fellow trans people need to talk, im here :)

  • You live your truth, even when it means risking your own safety, and that in itself is admirable. Sending lots of love and support to the 🏳️‍⚧️ community and to all those still in the shadows. 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵

  • @MermaidsCuddles NO ONE is an @$$ hole about it. It just doesn’t make any sense to the vast majority of us. It serves NO purpose, but it ABSOLUTELY puts our safety at risk- And shoving it down ANYONES throat or being in their face about it isn’t going to change that. I’m sorry that you’re so uncomfortable in your own skin. I believe you’re VERY MUCH “seen” and you ABSOLUTELY matter- EVERYONE does and NOTHING changes that E-V-E-R!!! hugs

    Seriously!?

    NO ONE is an Asshole?

    That’s rich.

    Hang in there, trans fam.

    🙊

  • @great_pillow08 please keep your ignorant bigotry out of this thread. Shame on you.

  • @IronicMaiden- Social pressures, feeling rejected, and being ostracized are reasons people want to transition in the first place. I have a 20 yr old nephew currently struggling with this so no one come at me saying I’m “transphobic” or whatever delusional, judgmental, ignorant, whatever other label is placed on those who “don’t get it”.. I brought up detransitioning because I’ve heard a lot lately about people who’ve started the process and wanted to back out for the same reasons they wanted to transition in the first place. I guess I just don’t understand how people come to think their gender is the cause of their problems(??)

  • @IronicMaiden
Thanks for posting this and bringing awareness to this day of celebration for the Trans community! I especially support any and all who’ve transitioned, before after during. I see & care about you, your courage and strength.

  • @Comet85- “ignorant”? Maybe, but “bigotry”? Not a chance!! If I’m so ignorant, why don’t you take the opportunity to enlighten me? Your unwillingness to inform in NO way translates into my unwillingness to learn. Have you considered THAT perspective??

  • @great_pillow08 Why would I waste my time trying to educate you? You haven’t made any indication that you’re open to learning or considering any perspective other than your own.

@MonkeyNeedsAHug- Someone being an @$$ hole is a matter of someone’s perception. I’ve yet to see or hear of anyone being as @$$ hole on this issue. Just an unwillingness to inform or even discuss it at all. People just get defensive and name call, then shut down and “cry” later that no one understands and I don’t understand THAT!

… Something just popped up on my screen and disappears before I could read it so if someone’s replying to me, I can’t see it!

  • @great_pillow08 You hear a lot about it because it is effective propaganda and gets clicks. Most people who transition are glad they did it. Also lol@ playing the "I have friends that are from X marginalized group so I'm not prejudiced" card in 2026. I thought everyone knew you can't play that anymore.

Anyway, we don't know what is going on in another person's head. If they want to dress a certain way or identify a certain way who cares. If it makes you cringe or you don't understand it that's a you problem. It isn't hurting anybody.

I'm just gonna leave it at that since this thread is probably going to be a dumpster fire pretty soon and I don't want to spend a lot of energy on it. The bottom line is let people do what they want as long as it isn't hurting anybody. Maybe try to learn about these people from sources that aren't facebook memes or fox news. Okay I need to stop lol

  • @great_pillow08

Social pressures, feeling rejected, and being ostracized are reasons people want to transition in the first place.

You are greatly misinformed and ignorant. If this is how you think, you truly do not get it. Your single example supporting your strange beliefs is meaningless, and I highly doubt you've interpreted what he's said correctly.

If you're going to ignore the lived experiences of trans people, you're going to get called transphobic.

I’ve yet to see or hear of anyone being as @$$ hole on this issue

You appear to be living under a rock.

  • @IronicMaiden 🙄Whatever you say! 😒

  • @great_pillow08 Your willful ignorance is noted.

  • In keeping with the OP and reason for this thread existing, happy day of recognition to everyone who needs it. If you don't need it or it doesn't apply to you, I hope that you can appreciate and respect that this is indeed extremely important issue for some, and we don't have to all have consensus or need the same things in life to be able to appreciate and respect those who are different .

  • On a more positive note, after two years, I'm now at the top of a waiting list! (Not sure if I can give details on that, but I'm sure most people can figure it out.) I've got some paperwork to do, but I'm a bit giddy about it! Soon to have gender euphoria possibly greater than I've ever had before!
