What small acts do you do to bring smiles to others?
One thing I enjoy doing any time I use a drive-thru is that I'll pay for the meal of the car behind me before driving away.

I had a bunch of little trinkets/gifts left over from hosting the cuddle meet & greet, so I've started leaving them around random places at work for coworkers and students to find ☺️

I always carry drinks and snacks in my work truck and I’ll hand them out to people who seem to be in need. I’ve been doing this for years.
I give random strangers compliments, just passing by I will compliment their shoes something they are wearing their smile anything.
@cuddlefaery that idea crossed my mind, but I don’t want folks catch me in the act and start calling me out for littering… I got no ninja moves to protect myself lol
@natasya148 I avoid the littering issue by actually handing surcies to folks after asking permission. For instance, I've given out "a bit o' green" shamrock stickers for St. Patrick's day, or smiley stickers any time I had some. Being the fairy that I am, I've even sprinkled biodegradable fairy dust on folks (with permission), or handed out mini bubbles bottles.
I got hooked on random acts of whimsy to cheer people all the way back in high school. We had a club called "Morale Amelioration Club" that literally just planned random acts of kindness, free hugs, etc. It carried over into my teaching and even stuff like ren faires where it got the fairy flavoring 😅

@NoVaSparks yes 🙌 , giving random strangers compliments is one of my favorites.. Last weekend I was at the market and a woman standing on line in front of me was wearing a shirt with a message written on the back… I read it out loud , so, she turned around and I told her how awesome her shirt is and that the message made my day .. she said I made her day too ! We hugged 😊
I pick up waste in my community. Remove debris like (sticks, toys, waste) out of sidewalks or paths for safety.

I enjoy helping the needy. Some people need to be banned, and I like helping them out the door.
I give a lot of text healing and hugs to people in need. To try and help people. I buy coffee for my warehouse guys occasionally. Give dollar coins to the homeless occasionally.
I always say “ good morning” and “ thank you” when I board and exit a public bus. I give random strangers compliments, especially elderly ppl and always ask if they need help going up a staircase or crossing the street. I also give/buy food or money to homeless people. 🤗
I am intentionally kind and patient. I do smile and wave. I speak softly. It has granted even myself inner peace and happiness. I hope to give others that feeling.
If I observe something truly notable, I actually enjoy paying spontaneous compliments, many times to total rando strangers. Here are some examples coupled with some superfluous disclaimers:
I was at a restaurant about two weeks ago and there was this bodybuilding male female couple at the table and the guy had ridiculously massive arms and I said “Hey pal can you leave a little bit of muscle for the rest of us smaller guys”. They got a good chuckle and he said “No way. I work way too hard for what I got”. I replied “touché’” and went back to my baked Salmon roll.
(Speaking as a guy that shaves his head) I told my bank teller that he had outstanding hair.
And finally I told a friend of mine (that knows I’m straight) that he was “upsettingly handsome”.
A compliment doesn’t cost anything to pay and can really make another person’s day, and that makes me feel good too in the process… Win win, right?
OK, that’s my spiel for today.
When my kids and I are out running errands, we often hit up Costco, even if it's just to get some samples or something inexpensive at their food court. We always make it a point to buy an extra piece of pizza or hot dog and a soda or something because there's often people with signs up asking for food, drinks, money next to our Costco. One time we were almost to the point of tears because this guy we were giving food to also had a dog with him. And we happened to have a can of wet dog food in the car with us. Unopened. And he was SO happy. 😭❤️ I also hold doors open for people, pick things up for random people who drop stuff by me in public, have offered to hold people's groceries or even babies when their arms were too full. Stuff like that. I just want to help where I can, even though it's really just a lot of little things. The baby one was amazing actually lol he reached for me as his mom was slowwwwwly losing her grip on him, and her other hand was full of her groceries. Her mom's hands were full as well! I jokingly said, it looks like he would like me to hold him, would that be okay, because your hands are so full? And she agreed immediately. He was freaking precious, so giggly and chubby. They were surprised, said he rarely goes to people he doesn't know. I felt very special in that moment. Chosen by this lil baby for snuggles🥰 My outlook is that this world is an incredibly harsh place a lot of the time, so I try to be as soft, supportive, loving and welcoming as I can be. I have to maintain boundaries to protect myself and my family, obviously, but radical random kindness in the wild is just my thing.
I have paid for meals before for vets, I tell the waiter not to tell them who did it. I have helped people along the roads before years ago, sad you can’t do that with people today. I enjoy playing with my tractor and its backhoe. After bad storms I help out where ever I can in my neighborhood. When offered money, my answer is I’ll charge it to the dust in the road and let the rain settle it. That is an old country saying from my home state of WV.

As a woman I complement other women DAILY. Wherever I am. Sometimes men too but not as much. I’ve passed that down to my daughters and they do the same and don’t even realize. I love watching them lift up others. I’m also a nurse and majority of my clients are elderly, I LISTEN, get to know them and what they need and then do little things for them to make their everyday day easier to function.
When I lived in Michigan it seemed like every other day there was a “pay it forward” train at all the coffee shops. Did that regularly. Here in Florida not so much. Loved doing that though.
This is such a lovely positive thread. @cuddlefaery and I have a lot in common and I got a big smile and warmth from reading hers as I too am a random acts of whimsy fairy who tries to spread joy by leaving things. Some of them are fairies, gnomes, painted rocks, and inspirational art cards hidden around parks and in free little libraries. I make an effort to give compliments, help when I see someone in need, giving extra food or free food rewards I don't want to people on the street in need. Good deeds ripple. 😊✨🫂

I try to be alert and situationally aware for anyone who might need help. I saw an older lady try to push her shopping cart to her car but unfortunately she parked far enough for the anti-theft thing in the cart to trigger and it locked its wheels.
So I helped all her stuff and loaded her car.
I try to be the healing people need by not telling them what to do, but instead be a sounding board.
Someone helped me by giving me a rosary and opened my heart to Jesus. He visited me in the hospital and even picked me up when I got discharged. He told me that some people believe they'll have a good rest if they put the rosary under the pillow.
When I had surgery they rolled me out of bed and onto the CT scan table stomach down and the Rosary plopped in front of me between my hands. I felt so much peace through the whole process.
