I recently learned how much peace can come from slowing down and being present. It’s simple, but it really changed the way I look at everyday life.
Fat Joe lied
How chi energy is different than reiki. Energy work is so cool. Changed my life. Always more to learn and grow from it.
Also, time is so weird! Sometimes slower, faster, jumps ahead, or back. "Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so."
That Treasure Island has/had radioactive waste their in the soil and the govt allowed us to build on top of it. Also the history of treasure island and how it was slated to be an airport, before WW1 changed all of that.
As someone who is neurodivergent who has struggled to articulate why small talk irks me - she explains its purpose so eloquently, making for less mental friction.🤯
This is going to come as a shock to anyone reading this because it damn sure shocked me, especially since I'll be 58 in December.. You think at my age I know different but 2025 was a complete shock to me.. In April of 2025 my best friend was diagnosed with stage 4 throat cancer and he barely lasted till September.. Four people that graduated high school with me all passed away within two and a half weeks of each other.. A co-worker was feeling terrible, decided to go straight to the hospital, only to be told they can't do anything for him, he has stage 4 liver cancer, they will help him set up with hospice and to just go home and get ready for the inevitable.. So yeah at an age when I should have known better it still shocked me just how fragile life truly is.. We really aren't guaranteed the next second let alone the next 20-30 years..
@jonnyquest I remember those days. I'm 73 now...and they're dropping like flies. I sometimes become too preoccupied with it. It's the one thing that makes us all equal in the end. Still look for silver linings where I can find them.

@jonnyquest To me that’s a young age for so many people close to have died. I feel that late 50s and into early 60s is still fairly young. I’m sorry you’ve had so much loss. I’m in my 70s, my siblings are in their 80s. We’re all still traveling, active and in good health and I know we’re fortunate for that. I also have lost 3 friends in the last year. I wish you good health. I do recognize that I’m entering some uncertain years ahead.
@Carrie_Anne Believe it or not that's not half of what went on for me in 2025.. But that's another story for another time.. I forgot to mention that in December I lost another class made of mine.. Which was also another surprise to me.. He's been going through a tough time these past couple years.. A messy divorce, losing both parents and he was extremely close to them.. And then he was just tired of dealing with the VA.. Even though the police report said that he passed away due to a car accident, there's a couple of us that are starting to wonder if that accident was intentional because he was just tired of everything.. So that's another thing that surprised me, we never really know what someone else is going through.. And on the side note that's why I really and I mean really trying not to get into any online arguments.. Because for all I know one wrong word is all someone might need to hear for them to do something stupid..
It's a sad story and played out too many times in real life
Not something that I'm just learning now, but rather coming to terms and finally adjusting accordingly with the fact that people (a very large majority) do not live up to their word. I feel like I'm at the end of an era where your word meant EVERYTHING. It extended beyond any monetary value or someone's net worth or social status...didn't matter, filthy rich or dirt poor, you're nothing without your word. People today are so privileged & entitled and greedy, they completely disregard (and/or screw over) their fellow man while trying to benefit themselves. I didn't want to believe it for a very long time, and continued to give the benefit of the doubt, even to those who I knew would end up being undeserving. Unfortunately, those people have made it very difficult to trust or believe what anyone says, making it harder on those who actually still do the right thing. It makes me incredibly sad.
@jonnyquest I'm sorry about all the difficulties you've endured this last year.
You talked about your friend who had the car accident saying "for all I know one wrong word is all someone might need to hear for them to do something stupid...", and that reminds me of what I see going on in some of the forum discussions. There are some who are very sensitive to the words of others and are easily hurt by the criticism I often see in the postings. There are others who love the bantering back and forth who love to use their words to prove their point, even at the expense of others' feelings. But we don't know what is going on inside from one person to the other, which is why in my opinion that kindness and respect need to guide each of us as we respond to others on these forums.
In other words, keep criticism to a minimum, treat others with the same amount of respect and kindness that we want from others, and remember that you don't know what is going on inside of the other person. Isn't it possible to build up rather than tear down the other person, even when you disagree with their opinion or statement? I'm sure some will be offended by what I wrote, probably because they know they are guilty. I don't mean to condemn anyone, I just want to point out that kindness and empathy should rule the discussions.
Thanks @Thewalkingman ..Like I mentioned earlier I really don't get into online arguments either in the forums here or social media in general.. Because honestly it's a waste of time.. Especially when you have people who seemingly have nothing else going on with their lives and just want to argue with random strangers online.. And even if you back up your opinion with facts they either still don't get it or are just too self-righteous to get it.. But I agree with you a little kindness definitely goes a long way..
@Corinne714 I actually think that people have always been the same. Humanity in general, I mean. When we examine history, we can see evil and suffering has always been a part of a world with humans in it, unfortunately. Say you ascribe to a Biblical worldview, for example. Right there in Genesis, only the second generation of humans to even exist, according to the Bible, saw a brother kill his brother. That being said, I choose to look at that generally depressing fact as somewhat comforting, because it tells me humanity isn't getting worse. We've ALWAYS struggled to be kind to each other. And I choose to try to focus on the kind and the good I can find and experience and share. Hugs. It can be so brutal out there, and also so beautiful.
How much more difficult nearly everything is to do with back pain, including sleeping.
(And how much yoga can help, to what extent it can)
That there are places in the world where people are so honest and respectful of other’s property that they wouldn’t dream of taking what isn’t theirs even if it’s sitting in front of them unattended, no one watching. But there are and it’s so nice to let my guard down for a little while.
@Carrie_Anne 🙌 “The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching” …
Feel the fear and do it anyway. One of many things I've picked up while starting a side business (barely two weeks left until launch, yikes).
@SweetCuddler33 That is so true and a wonderful reminder! Thanks for that!
There is a lake inside the ocean called brine pools where the water is saltier, denser, dark(no sunlight) and with no oxygen yet living things still survive!🤯 There's bacteria there that converts methane and sulfur into energy. That bacteria attaches itself to other living beings respiratory system allowing it to survive in those toxic conditions. Think about everything we have dismissed because we believed that living beings can only survive with sunlight(photosynthesis) and oxygen(besides microscopic organisms...).
@BellaAine That is something I would have never learned so thanks for sharing!
@Carrie_Anne my pleasure! 😊 I enjoy going down the rabbit hole with random stuff that fascinates me.
I am neurodivergent. I learn that people exist who are not.
@trysdet I always look forward to your comments.
The Avatar universe (James Cameron) is based off of Earth. The RDA are greedy corporations/military and that we must protect our lands, oceans, and indigenous people all over the globe!
@BellaAine have you seen any of the documentaries about the lakes under the ice in Antartica? Here's one from one of my favorite science education creators
@trysdet one of the biggest a-ha moments since my diagnosis was realizing why I've always felt drawn to certain people and felt like an outsider with others. In hindsight I was unconsciously bonding with other neurodivergents, while feeling oddly out of synch with most of my neurotypical friends 😅
@cuddlefaery no i have not seen that. Thank you for the suggestion. I agree . I realize in hindsight that most of the kids in school I socialized with on a regular basis were likely neurodivergent as well.
Sitting in silence can be refreshing ....
