Why doesn't this site have a platform with push notifications?

Hello y'all

I just stumbled across this site today, so I'm super new. Already I can see some big problems, one of them is that 85% of women in my area haven't logged in for a few weeks to a year. Another is that when I finally found someone active, I messaged her, she replied, but I wasn't aware of her reply until a little over an hour later. By the time I responded I'm sure she went on with her day because I haven't gotten a message back all day. The problem in all of these cases is the lack of notifications. You could have people pounding down your virtual door without knowing it.

Are there any plans to have a CuddleComfort app? Because I'm feeling rather discouraged with all this.

    I see a big problem already too. ;) I kid I kid.

Welcome, eager beaver! There's actually a thread for requesting things like this - not sure if this has been requested or not but not a bad idea to post it there as well: https://www.cuddlecomfort.com/forum/discussion/1440/criticisms-and-ways-this-website-can-be-improved#latest

In the meantime slow down a bit, soak it in and try to find some GOOD stuff going on around here as well.

    Good luck!

  • @SweaterBetter you can go to Settings and scroll down 'til you get to Notifications. You can set them for "instant notifications" or something less frequent. Set for instant and you get a notification within a minute or two of someone messaging you, depending on how quickly your email refreshes. That said, going a whole hour between messages is no big deal at all. In my experience PMs here are not generally like carrying on a running conversation via text messaging. We answer when we answer, and it's all pretty low key. You'll probably see replies to this post trickle in for days. I"m with Choco --- don't be too easily discouraged. :-)

  • Don't you just love people who have just joined and their first contribution is to bitch and moan about the site because it doesn't meet their immediate needs.

  • Sooooooo, since you took time to reply maybe she got tired of waiting, went ahead and went on with her day. If you got one response from her you are doing better then some.

That reminds me @quietman775 I messaged you 4 minutes ago, why aren’t you answering me? ?

  • So @SweaterBetter just joined and already got a response from an fellow enthusiast? Wow, does he know about all the other members that can’t even get a reply from a pro?
Reality will set soon enough and he’ll realize this is not an instant gratification site and that it takes time to develop relationships and even more time to get to a possible cuddle with a fellow member.
I find it funny that he probably thought that because the girl responded he was on his way to a cuddle right away.

  • Man, I just love a community where the first reaction to someone bringing up a legitimate concern is to attack them with hatred and contempt. I honestly did not expect such negativity in this thread. Aren't we here for friendship, love, goodwill etc? Not unfair accusations and salt.

I'm just saying that this site doesn't reach it's potential in 2018, and that this issue needs to be addressed.

  • @cuddleversed I'm really sorry to hear about your experience, and I am grateful that I got a response. That's not the point of my post however.

  • When a legitimate concern is brought up and Mark is notified he will address it. Not getting a second response to a first message on your first day is certainly no reason for concern let alone vent concerns such as yours and not get the responses you have received here. You received a response in your first day which is much more than others receive sometimes in weeks, some months.

Cuddlers here don’t attack, they find amusement in a new enthusiast that feels a sense of entitlement to have everything they expected from this site handed to them on day one. If you look through the forums, and I’ll assume since you figured out the statistics of how long it’s been since the enthusiast around you have signed on you would have found how long it takes to get responses from cuddlers. There are no statistics on someone not receiving a second response because everyone else is realistic of their expectations on this site. Had you not worried about statistics you wouldn’t have missed her first response.

Cuddlers not being on for a few weeks means nothing. Cuddling is part time for some and full time for others but just because they don’t sign on often doesn’t mean they won’t get to your message. I am on daily but I have a job, I have children and a granddaughter, I Uber and I have a life outside of CC. I like to think about responses and not just respond because someone expects a response immediately. You will find delays in responses are pretty much expected, but making expectations from a site you know nothing about isn’t fair to anyone here. You worried about statistics before looking to see if there were ways to be notified of incoming mail. You can’t register and expect to have cuddlers filling your inbox it doesn’t work that way. Be patient.

Don’t spend so much time worrying about what other cuddlers are doing and think about what you want to accomplish here. Worry about things like who you may be compatable with, if someone has the same outlook on cuddling as you and think about going outside of your circle to find the right one for you. Just because someone answers your email doesn’t mean they will want to cuddle with you. Many people here will go outside of their circle if they don’t get responses but the first day is kind of absurd to vent and tell those of us happy with the site how discouraged you are by it. If you are that discouraged the first day then cuddling is probably not what you are looking for. You already feel it and cuddlers aren’t dumb, we will feel it.

    Patience is a virtue

  • @CreativeCuddles Your lengthy reply would really have put me to shame, but unfortunately misses the point yet again. Please take the time to read my original post so that you can make an intelligent reply.

1: I blame no one for not writing me back. Given the outdated system this website runs on I would expect it to be very difficult to get replies, at no fault of either person. The current technological climate is much more geared toward apps and push notifications than toward webpages and email. This is probably one of the reasons why there are so many people that have been inactive for months and years, and probably not because they lost interest in cuddling.

2: The reason I am discouraged is because of the sheer number of inactive people in my area, and the tiny fraction of people that have been active in the last month. The second reason I give for this is that because there are so few people active and seeking, people are loosing interest in the site and going inactive, instead of checking an empty inbox day after day. If there were an app, then failing to check the website wouldn't be a problem because you would be notified on your phone. That means I could message people who have been inactive for months and have reasonable hope that they would respond, because I know they've been made aware.

The reason I wanted to make this post in the first place is because I saw a great idea that wasn't meeting it's potential. Perhaps you don't feel like I have the right to say that as a newbie, then I apologize.

If entitlement is so amusing then I suspect that you and others try to see entitlement where there is none, for the purpose of being entertained. Very understandable. As a person who is quite familiar with dating apps (granted, they're a different sort of thing) I know what it's like to have very little success I assure you. I simply have no basis for entitlement. In fact, I am plagued by insecurity about my appearance and social skills. I find the friendly atmosphere of an app based on cuddling an attractive alternative to the competitive environment of dating with all its expectations

    Have a wonderful evening

Given the outdated system this website runs on

There's literally nothing outdated on any level from server hardware to operating system to web framework. I felt the need to clarify this in case people were to have security concerns after reading your comment.

she replied, but I wasn't aware of her reply until a little over an hour later

If your emails are taking an hour to get to you, something is going badly wrong. Our emails are sent via Amazon Web Services and so should get to you in a similar time frame as any major online service. Please make an enquiry if this continues.

PS. We do sometimes wait to send an email if we think a user might already be browsing and will therefore naturally spot the unread message themselves. We don't always send emails if we think you're engaged in a live conversation. And finally, we'll only send you an email for the first unread message, not any that follow in that same unread conversation.

The current technological climate is much more geared toward apps and push notifications than toward webpages and email.

I share the same outlook as Google on this - native apps are now a poor business investment. Instead, Progressive Web App technology is a better area to direct those resources.

That technology is in our roadmap and it will introduce Push Notifications to members using Android devices. Apple are being stubborn on this but they do seem to be gradually adding support for PWA and so it seems inevitable (I really hope!) that Push Notification support in that form will come.

@SweaterBetter "In fact, I am plagued by insecurity about my appearance and social skills." Ahhh welcome, brother. You're in good company.

I don't find this site outdated at all. I wouldn't mind a few minor tweaks but to me it's a nice departure from swiping left/right, 'liking' and other nonsense every dating app has ("zomfgz this isn't a dating app!...i know... -_-).

The good thing is that siterunner @Mark is very open to suggestions on improvement and sometimes takes care of them in the same day! Every site has a distinct personality and what works for other sites might not quite fit the vibe of this one.

You do receive notifications to your emails when someone writes you and for myself that's enough. But then again I also don't want a 'like' button added to this site. (Kiss my grits, Fakebook)

Seemingly Mark is running this site with minimal help and not tons of funds so overall I think it's ok. Hopefully you placed your suggestion in the suggestion link I sent you early. Again, welcome.

    Love,

Tons of Funds, the Wallstreet Whale

  • @Mark When I mean "system" I didn't mean the literal equipment and software, I was just referring to the browser based page and email notifications. That's great to hear that you're planning to bring CuddleComfort to Android devices! I applaud your efforts and have no further comment to make as you've answered my concern.

@chococuddles I don't suppose I'll need that suggest thread now that I know the feature is already being considered, but I thank you for your help anyway, along with positivity and understanding. :-)
I definitely agree with you that I would want to avoid the swiping. My unaffectionate nickname for swiping apps is "the auction block", they do feel dehumanizing some times. Many of us are here to get away from all that.

    Cheers friends!

  • @SweaterBetter welcome to this site. For the most part this is an inclusive understanding environment. I am willing to bet that some of the men who have commented above have been rejected or not responded to with even simple courtesy of a no thanks close to 500 times, yet they're still here, still adapting, still sending out requests.

@CreativeCuddles was right in the fact that most of us found amusement in your original post, we've seen this same discussion multiple times(not to mention erection posts, smh). Having personally conversed with each of the male posters above I can assure you they're just very intelligent seasoned men who don't mean any harm by it. All of the posters in this thread are actually very regular beneficial posters. I can't think of a time that one of them has been purposely spiteful or cruel to others in a post, I have firsthand knowledge of this since I have become one regular poster's favorite target and have been personally lambasted and even major trash talking by this member who is by very nature unbalanced, or at least no idea of self, mean, two-faced, and spiteful. That poster follows me around to different threads and tries to pick fights with me still. It happens, but the comments here aren't mean. In fact if you forum search any of the above names you will find pages of comments by all of them (@chococuddles is the funniest of the bunch above to search). We do have a regular group on this site who follow along and often a post does get a bit sidetracked by regular posters having fun with each other rather then actually meaning to cause harm to a new persons sensitivities. I commend you for calling them out on that and I believe you have reminded all of them that sometimes the post originator will take comments personally even though they're not necessarily meant that way. The posts above are actually off your original topic yes and the posters probably should have stayed on track with the fact that it wasn't a complaint about missing a potential cuddle but a user friendly issue you were commenting on.

These posts are read by many, especially hot ones like this. If you were to look at the numbers of views as opposed to the number of comments you'll see that it is way off balance. All of the men above know this, they also know that just like you, and to an extent myself, many of the viewers of the posts are newbies. So they may've multiple reasons for responding the way they did. Such as mature adult male humor at a young one still dripping wet thinking he can recreate the wheel; a bit of putting all newbies in their places, a settling down of sorts; enjoyment of each other; taking this opportunity to indirectly inform every other new cuddler scrolling across the home page that the site works this way; and other potential reasons. The settling down was done for the benefit of all impatient new cuddlers on this site. I think the way they view your post is like a new guy starting a job, the military, a team; any situation where you are new, full of ideas, plans, great visions of what you'll do - how you'll revolutionize the group now that you're part of it. It's that nervous energy, the excitement at the possibilities, that makes a new cuddler a bit annoying. I was there also; I've had things editorially deleted, I've been called out, I've gotten emails from both Mark and Reurbo about potentially inflammatory statements, not fun but it was what I needed to settle me down. These men, being men of experience, took it upon themselves to give you and every other new man on here who posts a pic of their bare chest, a closeup of their bicep, or some other meat picture thinking this site is one thing when in reality its something else entirely; a smart smack to settle you all down. Allow you to get some of the nervousness out and concentrate on the job at hand. I did it myself to a young woman on here.

For many of us this is a body barren place; I challenge you to cuddle search 58501 and see what pops up. So these posts are an alternative to actual body contact. We all want and crave that connection without judgement. These posts have to fill that need for many, that's why some of these posts get sidetracked because they are just talking among themselves, enjoying the companionship, using it to teach a broader lesson to everyone, or a combination of those.

Since you have a very nice profile picture, and you called them out without personally attacking anyone or the site in general you, in my opinion only, have gained a bit of respect with all our regular readers. We are for the most a very accepting community and you seem like you will be a very good fit and welcome addition to our discussions.

Now do yourself a favor and go past page one of the forums and read some of the great conversations we have on here.

@SweaterBetter I, as well as others found it as an attack on a site that Mark works hard to maintain as well as the rest of the cuddlers here. One cannot be here less than 24 hours and assume they know enough to judge the site we trust. I have been here almost 4 months and don’t know as much as you claim to in your day here. Had you come on the threads with questions regarding your concerns rather than attacking it that would have put a different perspective on your post but you chose to present it how you did.

BTW Thank you for your lengthy
    Reply.
