Hug100 2026 - a global day of free hugs, and I'd love this community to be part of it!

Some of you may have heard of Hug100 before - it started as my own personal challenge to give 100 hugs in a day, and it's grown a little more each time since.

This year, Hug100 2026 is happening on Saturday 26th September - the day 100 people around the world each give 100 free hugs, all on the same day. If we get there, that's 10,000 hugs given out, everywhere, at once.

Wherever you are, you can take part in a way that suits you: solo, with a buddy, or gathering a small group. There's no pressure to do it a certain way, just to be part of something bigger happening together.

Since this community already understands the value of consensual, platonic touch, I thought some of you might like to be part of it too - whether that's giving hugs yourselves, or just spreading the word to people in your area.

If you'd like to know more or get involved, feel free to comment or message me and I'll share the details.

Much love and hugs to you all,
Samii!

  • First time hearing of this event. Not sure if it’s going to happen in my area. People rarely if ever even talk to each other, let alone hug

  • Sounds like such a cool concept!

  • 100 hugs in a day? Sounds lovely, but there are days and weeks that I go without even one.

  • @disneysamurai - That's a shame, why do you think that is? is it an area you think would be open to it if, given the opportunity?

  • @Samii_Hugs I think it’s just the sign of the times, especially among Gen Z. Most people are walled off and go everywhere with headphones in their ears and their face glued to their phones. No one smiles or says hi to one another

  • @disneysamurai that's not my lived experience at all! I'm always having conversations and interactions with people in public, gen Z included. ☺️

  • @JessAZ thanks, it's such a rewarding event - seeing the joy from those who come for a hug, or even those who chose not to have one but love to see them being offered is really uplifting. Some come for a hug and share that they really needed one that day or that they haven't had a single hug from anyone in a very long time - it's very humbling.

I'd love you to be a part of it if you're interested https://consciousconnectedtouch.com/hug100

  • I think it depends where you live too. I’m in a large city and no one says hello to eachother. Yesterday this woman greeted me hello and it felt so foreign I almost felt special for a moment lol. I don’t think I could do 100 hugs in a day , especially if I’m the one giving. There’s a big difference between giving and getting a hug - kinda makes me wanna post a new question in the discussion board !

  • @VAdude sorry to hear you go periods of time without a single hug - that's kinda why I started this movement - I've had so many some up and say that it's the first hug they've had in a very long time. Some get emotional.

How would you feel about offering free hugs? I honestly feel really nourished and heartful after these events - yes, I'm the one giving but seeing and feeling the connections we're creating really does fill my cup too.

Give it some thought perhaps, happy to discuss it more if you think's something you might want to do.

    Big hugs,
    Samii

  • @disneysamurai @SpicyNSweet I hear where you're both coming from and have experienced both; for me I think I choose to make an attempt to connect with others when I'm out - I look up, smile, say hi and if others don't reciprocate that's ok but if they do then it gives us both a little lift.

What my experience with giving free hugs several times now has shown me, is that people are really appreciative of it being offered in their hometown, even if they don't want a hug themselves - they smile at seeing it being offered, they sometimes come and thank me or it it just plants a little seed in their mind about hugs and connection.

It's easy to see us all as disconnected and in our own little bubbles tied to our phones when out and about but I think that's because they don't feel or see any other option - so let's show them there are opportunities out there!

That's just me but it's something to think about.

    Big hugs,
    Samii

  • Such a wonderful project, Samii! I love how welcoming and low pressure you’ve made it. I’ll definitely help spread the word in my area to help hit the goal! 🫶🏽🤗

  • @SoftCuddlezzXp ahh thank you, I really appreciate that! I think people are worried they won't be able to reach 100 hugs but I did it in just under 2hrs and even quicker the second time - just depends on the location you choose to do it from. Big hugs, Samii

As a bartender I would include free hugs to my posts. My regulars that knew me over the years knew it was a legit thing- a hug for me was a reset at work people would wait at the end of the bar after closing out like kids for a big hug— it was great !!!
I was once was told my hugs were the night cap to their long day after work 🥰
I love this idea 💡 I will find some to make me a tee shirt to wear that day… take some pics too!
I def want to be apart of it🫶🏼💛❤️💛

I will get the word out to some bartender friends. They will love being apart of this event 🤩

  • @BlessedEnergy4U How wonderful that you offered hugs and that they were so well received - I think people just need to be given the opportunity and permission to admit and accept that they need a hug (don't we all from time to time!)

    I really appreciate your support!

If you wouldn't mind signing up (and encouraging others) so I can keep track of how many huggers we have and where so we can work out how many free hugs have been given out by the end of the day.

  • @vibezzzzzz222 I agree that it's not really the norm these days to greet each other in the streets if you don't know each other - when i was young everyone smiled and said hello to everyone.

I guess, I have chosen to continue to smile and say hello to people who look up as we pass - it really can make a difference to how them and I both feel.

I hear you that giving 100hugs can feel daunting but that receiving feels different, I work with the different dynamics of giving and receiving in my 1-2-1's and cuddle puddles but what I've found when doing hug100 is that if you choose a good location with plenty of people, 100 hugs happen pretty quickly and I definitely got so much from it, it really didn't feel one sided.

  • For those of who want to see a glimpse of how my first hug100 went, here's a reel I made with just a few of the hugs and interactions I had during the day.

Without fail, every time I watch this, I remember the joy and people I met and it warms my soul and heart all over again.

This is how I want everyone's hug100 to be like.
