Since we've already had a whole discussion (and poll!) about plagiarism, I thought I'd try approaching this from the opposite direction: instead of talking about what not to do, let's talk about where you can find material for your profile, ads, or even enthusiast posts that is actually truly unique to you. 🥰
And this is for Pros and Enthusiasts, because you don't need to be advertising a paid service to want a profile or forum presence that actually sounds like you.
First, I want to give away one of my own biggest “secrets,” because I keep seeing language and concepts similar to things I've written popping up elsewhere:
A huge amount of the language and ideas in my own profile and ads came from learning about myself through the Affection Scale.
That's why I talk about being naturally affectionate. That's why I talk about giving and receiving affection, warmth, touch, closeness, nurturing, connection, and what affection actually feels like to me. Those aren't phrases I picked because they sounded like good cuddler marketing. They're descriptions of me that came from understanding my own temperament and then putting that understanding into my own words.
I want to empower you to find your own answers. 😇
I put together an entire Affection Scale discussion here specifically because I think it's fascinating and useful. Feel free to start there! Figure out where you fall. Think about what affection means to you, how you naturally express it, how much you need, what makes you feel connected to another person, and what kind of energy you bring into a cuddle.
Two people can use the exact same framework and end up with completely different profiles because they're describing two completely different humans.
And if the Affection Scale isn't your thing, GOOD NEWS: there are approximately nine million other ways to find something original to say. 😂
✨ Describe your actual personality. Are you bubbly, quiet, sarcastic, nurturing, shy, goofy, intellectual, calming, energetic, playful, serious? What does spending two hours with you actually feel like?
✨ Describe how you naturally show affection. Maybe you're a long-hug person. Maybe you love holding hands. Maybe you're the human weighted blanket. Maybe you're the person who will talk someone's ear off. Maybe you barely need to speak at all.
✨ Describe your ideal cuddle experience. Movies? Music? Conversation? Quiet? Games? Laughing? Napping? Going somewhere first? Staying under a blanket for three hours?
✨ Tell your actual story. Why are you here? What interested you about platonic cuddling? What have you learned about yourself? What does connection mean to you?
✨ Write about literally anything else that makes you interesting. Your hobbies. Your pets. Your favorite comfort movie. Your weirdest obsession. Your travels. Your favorite food. Something funny that happened to you. Give people a reason to want to meet you, rather than a polished collection of things that sounded good when somebody else said them.
✨ Start a discussion instead of an advertisement. Ask something you've genuinely wondered about. Participate in the community. Let people discover your personality naturally.
✨ Use frameworks as prompts, not answer keys. Temperament assessments, communication styles, personality tests, love languages, the Affection Scale — whatever helps you understand yourself. Take the questions and generate your own answers.
And finally:
✨ If somebody writes something you absolutely love and you want to reuse or adapt it — ASK THEM.
Some people genuinely don't care. Some will happily help you write something of your own. Some might even say, “Sure, steal it!” 😂 And some of us put an enormous amount of time into our writing and very much do not want it reused.
The good news is that nobody else has your exact personality, experiences, preferences, perspective, or way of connecting with people — which means you already have more than enough original material to work with. 🥰
So go be weird. Be bubbly. Be quiet. Be ridiculously affectionate. Be the person who wants to cuddle at sunset or watch terrible movies under a blanket. 😂 Whatever is genuinely yours, lean into it.
Originality doesn't require inventing something nobody has ever said before. It just requires making sure the person you're describing is actually you. 💜
