Right now I'm writing an old-fashioned letter: pen and ink on paper, to be sent snail mail. In the age of email and text, it's ridiculously slow and laborious, but somehow more contemplative and satisfying. And a nice surprise for the recipient.

Waiting as my dough rises. I’m making sandwich rolls for Christmas Eve. I found a recipe online and followed it to a T, except I used bread flour rather than plain old AP flour, just because I had it in the house. The rolls were beautiful, nice size, shape and texture, but had almost zero taste. So I called the flour hotline to ask if my choice of flour was a problem. They said no, but the recipe need a little more salt, and nearly double the sugar. So we are trying again, and the birds that winter here can have the first batch. I did make 3 loves of wonderful honey wheat bread last evening. I’m afraid only two loaves will make it to Christmas Eve.

As far as fictional histories go, it’s quite good. Being entirely honest: I’d be happy if George scrapped the Song of Ice and Fire series, put out the second volume of Fire and Blood, and then exclusively produced Dunk and Egg stories—or other short works set in the world.

So you make your own butter I'm guessing by the above post. I'm massively curious if you decarb before cooking? I've been going through a decarb process myself but since it's still illegal here for a few months yet it's very much sly trial and error. Love the cabinets, I did the exact color combination when I lived in a loft back in the day, even had the same old hardware.

Yes, I decarb slightly. ? That is unfortunate. I am hoping our country can come together on such an antiquated law and if anything, decriminalize.
The paint is the original paint, so I have tested for lead and we were good there. I thought it was cheeky and matched the house so I kept it. Usually too much yellow makes me nauseous but this suits nicely.
The homes original moldings, stained window glass, and the tiny kitchen to match with the new age of canned goods being a way of the future. 1940s style.
Right now? Close to nothing. My family celebrates on Christmas Eve. That was nice. But the whole world stops on Christmas Day. I had a late breakfast at Denny’s. There is one pizza carryout open. Maybe that and a movie. Unless I get a last minute cuddle invitation (as if), then I wouldn’t want to show up with pizza breath.
Family stuff was incredible. Lucky to have such a close family. Was surprised with Christmas jammies with all the girls in my family on top of just delicious foods and good times.
