  • @EmpathJ I understand what you are saying, and I totally sympathize with your points, BUT @RCasey690 has a point too that you are trying to educate with anger. Stay calm, drop the attack mode and merely state your position. You will see more people listen then.

  • I think saying the OP is "hostile" is an huge overreaction, but I certainly see why the post is objectionable.

    1) The very post title/subject is pretty contentious. "Guys, why are so many of you here?" sounds like ... well just think for a bit what it can sound like. When someone says Why are you here? it can can mean one of two things: a) umm, what are you doing here? and b) help me to understand this, why are there so many guys here? and of course theres c), both. While I was originally in the b) camp, reading more of the post put me in the c) camp because of the other things said.

    2) This was followed almost immediately by how guys in in general (in present culture) are "disappointing". She gives a bunch of valid points, but then undercuts them (imho) by not reflecting on her own take, or thinking things through in way that doesn't assumes negative reasons, when she could instead ask things like ...

    3) Why is it that having a lot more guys than girls is in itself bad? Why not ask Why aren't there more women? When we see more of one kind than another, we could ask either why are there so many of one OR why there are so few of the other. Again, very basic way of looking at things that doesn't reach to slamming one group. And as I was saying in a previous comment, why not ask Why there are so many more women pro cuddlers than male pro cuddlers? Aren't these two facts very directly related? Should we start thinking or asking why there are more women pros than men pros, trying to find something problematic? I think trying to find something problematic about there being more female pros than male pros is about as (il)logical as problematizing having more males on the site, because ... its practically the same reason. Think about it. In short, I think the principle of charity, giving someone the benefit of the doubt, was lacking.

@curiouserandcur wow... you read a whole lot of intent into a few sentences. If you must know, I was hoping to start a thoughtful discussion, not influenced by my personal opinion, about how societial “beliefs” effect men and their needs surrounding touch. The post took a turn I didn’t expect or like and I bowed out rather than continue to stir the pot. I should know better with public forums and wished I could have taken it down days ago. If anyone here is a mod, please feel fee to close this thread.

  • @EmpathJ No more sexist than "Men, why are there so many of you here?"

I was lured here unknowingly by a pro from another site.

    Stayed for the sh!ts & g!ggles.

Also obviously any site like this on the planet is going to have way more men than women.

    Nothing new.

  • @2dogmom Yeah, your right I did read a lot into a few lines, in my defense I was saying how someone could find fault with what was said (and the subject/title), this being social media, as you were just saying :-\
I appreciate you not wanting to throw your hat into some of the turns it took ... it IS hard to have thoughtful discussions that don't get people riled up and at the same time touches on difficult issues.
