Suggestions for improving this website

  • Having a feature (optional) that will allow females (non-pros) to block any messages sent to them (only the people who they sent a message to first can reply) . This might give them the opportunity to look at people's profiles, and search for someone to cuddle with themselves. This might keep them from becoming overwhelmed by all the messages that they do receive, and they might stay on this site a little longer. Also, it might persuade people to put a bit more effort into their profile.

    ^^ That’s similar to Bumble.

  • It may be similar to Bumble but i think it is good for females and if guys know they have that feature enabled then they don't have to waste time writing a message

  • @CuddlesInParis I haven't tried Bumble myself, but they have a good idea.

  • @FarSnuggl If you think it is hard to find a non-pro now then try your idea...most non-pros are hesitant and most are not assertive to begin with.

  • [Deleted User]xpoki (deleted user)

@FarSnuggl, why not implement a message filter for all genders, comparable to the system they use for Okcupid? There you can only send one message (have to "like" the user first) until the other part replies and it prevents anyone from being spammed with multiple requests by one person. Wouldn't solve the issue of being sent a lot of "hi"s by blank profiles, but what about this in combination with a minimum required number of characters for a first message?

I wouldn't like a 'blocking by default' feature. This would feel really uninviting to me and while I know that there seems to be an unbalanced m to f ratio, I wouldn't enjoy being on a site that allocates usable features based on gender. Furthermore, this could lead to a forest of unmessageable profiles and no one would know if those people are real or just there to give the impression that the page is populated. But what could work might be a "hide my profile" option (for anyone)? This way your profile was unsearchable and invisible by default und only people you message will see it and everyone just sees profiles that are open to be messaged.

  • @xpoki " a "hide my profile" option (for anyone)? This way your profile was unsearchable and invisible by default und only people you message will see it and everyone just sees profiles that are open to be messaged." - sounds like a better idea to me!

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

@xpoki and @empee: Thirded. Of course, I'd be one of the ones leaving my profile visible to everyone... but still. Being able to hide yourself from everybody except the visible people you've decided to talk to seems like a useful feature for folks who're usually bombarded with messages.

  • I agree. That is the solution—hiding one’s profile when not active or overwhelmed is a great fix.

While there is no 'hide my profile' option yet, there IS a way to temporarily mute your profile. You can find it under Setttings, I believe - just above Delete My Account, which is at the bottom of the page. If you choose to mute your profile then you become 'unsearchable' by anyone who is searching for cuddlers who fit your criteria. You just simply won't appear.

I use this mute option quite often when I am really busy and don't feel like receiving messages from new cuddlers. People who I have already exchanged messsages with can still contact me, I just don't show up during a search to the general public. This mute function only stays in effect for a week, and then it will automatically be removed. But you can always choose to mute yourself again. I've found it helpful when I just don't have the time or energy to respond back to new people looking to cuddle.

It would be more professional if moderators deleted entire comments, rather than editing the parts of a comment they disagree with, but leaving the rest of the comment without full context.

  • @SJSpooner maybe that mute feature needs a time setting on it... like on whatsapp... then people need to know it's there as well it's not obvious is it.

  • [Deleted User]DarrenWalker (deleted user)

@SJSpooner: Oh, handy. I didn't know that was a thing. Cool.

I am new here but I think you should get away with the tracking of people on this site, like who visited you, and who was recently last logged on . Sometimes I am here because I love the homepage, and quote of the day. But instead it looks like I am here all the time searching n seeking when that isn’t the case. Sometimes I like to visit people who have reached out to me to read their profile. Psychology not sure how people are interpreting it. Bc I had one person comment I see you are on this site often. Where is the privacy to navigate this website without others watching me. Thank you.

  • [Deleted User]PriyaLal (deleted user)

Oops meant psychologically not sure how people are interpreting it. Overall I like the mission of the website and have been corresponding with some so far nice people. So kudos to the creators for trying to help other people achieve a sense of well being without the pressure that is associated with the dating world.

@empee We do at least make it obvious to new members who get a lot of interest. We show an alert in their inbox letting them know they can mute their profile.

  • [Deleted User]letscuddleasap (deleted user)

I’d appreciate a significantly higher block limit.

  • @Mark is there some sort of bug related to the editing of profiles? I'm trying to put a notice on my profile that I'm unable to take bookings currently. After I make the edit and complete the CAPTCHA, all my changes are reverted. This doesn't seem normal. 🧐

What I'm trying to add under my "where is catloaf" section:

Hello, everyone! I am still unable to take bookings for the time being - I won't resume until we are finally moved into a new place (and I've been searching for a couple of months already, no bites...). Those who have contacted me in the last month about bookings will receive news of when I am back in business again. It's been a pretty hectic time, then again a pretty hectic year so far. Thanks for your understanding and patience.

@Catloaf This triggered a false positive (XSS) in our firewall. I can see it occurred with a few other people too. I think it's resolved now and I made the edit on your profile to try and confirm this. Thanks for letting me know.

@letscuddleasap This is part of a recent batch of database optimisations. The limit is quite high based on typical usage.

The block feature is intended to protect you from those causing a nuisance. Are you using it for some other reason?

  • [Deleted User]letscuddleasap (deleted user)

I block untagged pros, people who don’t respond to messages, men who keep looking at my profile, and people who aren’t serious about meeting up. I’ve been on here long enough that it adds up. I don’t want to see these people in my search or visitor log.

  • [Deleted User]Zundar (deleted user)

@letscuddleasap by untagged pros do you mean people mentioning charging who aren't official pros? because reporting them would be a lot better than just blocking them in that case, and if they get banned you'd be freeing up a block slot/saving yourself the hassle.

  • Wow. I have been here for 1.5 years and I don't think I have blocked anyone. Never been necessary.

  • [Deleted User]letscuddleasap (deleted user)

I do report them. I have reported a TON on here. Sometimes they get banned and sometimes suspended and later they become real pros. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to want to block who I want. Is the blocking system really tying up that many resources on this site?

  • [Deleted User]letscuddleasap (deleted user)

I wrote a long post explaining my state of mind and why my requests would help me based on what I’m going through. I deleted it because it won’t matter. Bottom line, I give up. I’m glad some of you get success on here. I’ve never been able to experience that.

    Take care.

@letscuddleasap perhaps if you put less focus in blocking everyone who doesn't fit in a certain box you would have less barriers to finding cuddlers ?

  • Man, so many people who are so easily triggered by the world not bending to their whims and deleting their accounts as a result. If a Cuddle site does that to them, how do these people deal with real life?

  • [Deleted User]MacaronCuddles (deleted user)

    @letscuddleasap bye bye bye- *NSYNC

  • At first sight, being able to mark yourself as "incognito" ie don't let any one see me unless I have messaged them first sounds like a good idea. But that's a tricky one if you look at the wider picture impact...

Seems to be many many more men on here than women. Assuming most people don't want to cuddle with the same sex, then if most women go incognito the men will think "oh there aren't many people on here, forget this", whereas the women will think "wow lots of men here I can check them all out and they can't see me and bother me with lots of views and messages and then I can message who I want". Well at least they can do that until the men leave. Overall then to implement a feature like that it becomes a "women first" world which is not what this place is about.

I have also noticed that most women (at least in my country) do not put public pictures, do not put any text to describe themselves and fill in the minimal information on their profile. I suppose this is a protection for them, though perhaps can backfire. On the one hand, if I see a profile like that I don't bother contacting them, what after all is the initial connection going to be based on when their likes/dislikes/desires etc are not stated. On the other hand I can see some annoying people might plague them with messages and questions simply to find out some information about them.

So damned if you do and damned if you don't - clearly a challenge when deciding the way forward for a site like this to maximise engagement for the majority whilst protecting them from the (hopefully minority) annoying people. I don't envy those who run this site having to consider all of this!

@letscuddleasap I personally don't have issue with you using the block feature for your own reasons like that. However, from a management perspective, I look at it differently. There are only a few people who have used the feature excessively for whatever reason and this can indeed have speed related consequences to the search system. We are talking very minimal impact but our aim is to optimise wherever there is an opportunity to do so.

So considering we are talking about a tiny minority here, it made sense to limit the block list rather than make changes to the search infrastructure itself for these alternative uses.

  • Hey, I would like to bring back up the suggestion of being able to turn off notifications for a thread. There is one thread that is very active and I have to delete emails every day for. I would also like to participate more in the forums without adding to this problem for the rest of my life 😆 Thanks!
