There have been a numbers of discussions in the forum which have tried to distinguish this site from a dating site, including clarification from the organizer that the site is not intended as a dating site. But what makes a dating site and how is this site different? A bar is not a dating site but some people frequent them with the hope of hooking up with someone, Basically, any location that presents a location that encourages socializing and conversation is a potential dating site, not just those places that state that. A society for the study of geology could be seen as a dating site by someone who wants to date a geologist.
However, the geology site would not be a good choice for someone who wants to date a geologist but otherwise knows nothing about geology and feels that the study of rocks is stupid. Who would do that? Who would go to a football game even if they hate football? It happens.
So this is a site to promote the activity of cuddling, separate from the activity of sex and developing relationships. Not that these other activities are forbidden, they are not the focus of the site. Still, people place profiles that are provocative, make posts about how much they need somebody, etc. And then what does a new member see? A dating site. It's self-perpetuating! My first message from a member was from a women with a picture in military garb saying how she wants to cuddle me hard.
This forum used to be overwhelmed by people seeking cuddles in their part of the world and it was difficult to find the conversations about the topic of cuddling. Mark created a separate category for these requests and that helped to remove those posts from this forum, even though it looks like its something for all the new members to try out.
So, IMHO, we need more discussions about cuddling and fewer requests for what appear to be lonely people looking for dates.
