@littermate the keyword in what you wrote is " if " as in nothing was ever proven without a shadow of a doubt or enough to bring charges. But the point everyone is trying to make is that the man along with 8 just perished barely 24 hours ago and the positives he left in this world far outweigh the negative. This is a RIP thread ... Bringing up a criminal act he in fact may in fact have never perpetrated is disrespectful and inappropriate for a time of mourning by those that were impacted by him far & wide.

It is sad how we, as a society, have grown so numb to death of the passing on to the next life of others. We all have many flaws and have much baggage weighing us all down.

Let's be real as far as the alleged rape goes. Kobe Bryant can have any woman he wanted (due to his physique, influence and of course a lot of money even early in his career) and done so. So she willingly went to him and they had sex.

I see the point @PeopleLikeUs was making. As a member of this site, I appreciated his perspective and contribution. I also appreciate the individual perspectives and contributions of the other members, including you.
YOU don't think it's the thread "for that." Many other individual peeps might think it's not the thread for that. Maybe God Almighty doesn't think it's the thread for that. But apparently @PeopleLikeUs thought so, another individual member, and I, another individual member, appreciated it.
We can all co-exist in our individual perspectives and it's highly unlikely that repeating them at each other will have any effect on those who hold different ones. No one owns the forum threads, not you, not the majority. The only ones with the power to say what belongs on a thread in an absolute way are the moderators.
I just saw the news about Kobe last night. First off, I was not a fan. I was a huge Micheal Jordan and the Bulls fan, Kerr, kukoc, Pippen and the boys. When Jordan left, it just wasnt the same for me. . I will just speak to @pmvines, @PeopleLikeUs, @hugonehugall and @littermate all at once. It is sad that all of those lives were cut short and no one is more valuable than the other. However, if ones mother were on that chopper that she would be the main focus to you because of the strong personal connection to you. It is a part of the human experience to partially live our lives vicariously through others, sports heroes are a big conduit for that. Our passion for sport and for the team and the stars that "we win" with become powerful pseudo personal connections to us. It is absolutely unrealistic, but part of the human experience. I am a huge tennis fan and "my boy" is Roger Federer. I am not good enough to play in the ATP world tour. However, through my boy Fed, I experience that world. If he were to die in a plane crash i would be really bummed. I also have been a drummer since the sixth grade and still play many, many, many years later. Last week Neil Peart, the drummer for Rush died from brain cancer. He is one of the best drummers ever, a brilliant musician. I was sad to hear he was gone. I never met either one but human fantasy connects me to them.
I have no Idea about Colorado. But those who want to stand up for that, for what you believe is right, is honorable. Just remember that your friends on this site lost a person that was important to them, and the loss of that deep passionate connection is being mourned. So a bit of compassion for their sake.
It is a sad loss of all those lives and I pray for their families and loved ones.

@BashfulLoner I think Kobe did a good job of soiling people’s thoughts, especially the cop he threw a semen and blood-covered t-shirt at while stating to the police “I should have done what Shaq does,” adding, “Shaq gives them money or buys them cars, he has already spent one million dollars.” Kobe stated to the police that “Shaq does this to keep the girls quiet.” I don't ride with the popular opinion about iconic sports figures with money.

@PeopleLikeUs I still believe in a system that says we're all innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law. So in all fairness no he is not a rapist until proven otherwise. One version of the account of what happened is not gospel even if you choose the most graphic and silacious content to try and prove your point and soil others opinions. Im not going to go through a case that was already adjudicated in the court of public opinion 17 YEARS ago and never saw the inside of an actual courtroom. Despite the best efforts of yourself and people like you his legacy is already cemented as an Iconic Athlete , Father , Mentor & Role Model to countless other up and coming basketball players & athletes from other sports , business mogul , author & creator ( he won an OSCAR !! ) and humanitarian. He obviously cheated on his wife but they reconciled with that and thats between them and their relationship. He had a rocky relationship with his father but who here hasn't had one of those with their parents at some point ? Kobe’s humanitarian effort was a PR campaign to push a façade. In the environmental world, this is called “greenwashing” when a company tries to make it look like they are doing something for the environment when in fact they are doing nothing. It costs nothing to watch a women's basketball game and send out tweets. He had the money, why not step in when the Boston Breakers fell part? Because his humanitarian efforts were all optics. Oscars are also purchased.

I also have noticed with this post and others that the moderators of this site have the ability to keep a post from rising to the top of the forum queue after a post is made. This way, if a post contains subject matter they find objectionable they can make it go away without deleting it or closing it. Out of sight out of mind. I just want to share, for those who had a mourning moment. Kobe was found embracing his little girl. The fact the left church and he was able to attempt to protect and embrace her i felt was great.
