  • Endeavoring to stay safe/healthy whilst combating the challenges of isolation. To achieve some semblance of balance I make careful choices regarding who and how and where I connect. But it's a weekly "thing." Snuggles with my dog, writing songs, ASMR, and interacting online/over the phone helps mitigate my situation too.

    Timely prompt. 👍

  • Finding peers.

  • Great question. I’ve been going to church for about 11 years ago and have recently left. I’m not eager to return or go back.

I’ve taken a look at my own mind and found that I have some major struggles with self love and acceptance. This has been detrimental to my life in many ways and I am aiming to grow and develop myself in these areas.

  • "What has been the most challenging thing about your recent or overall living?"

My #1 challenge, at any given time, can be distilled down to a general inability to "adult" successfully.

"Optional: What do you do to ease this challenge?"

15% of the time I suck it up and ask for help, and 85% of the time I just have to deal with the ramifications ~ Which typically end up being financially draining. To curb the sting, I've begun referring to these added expenses as either an (it is what it is) "Arrested Development tax" or as my (maybe there's hope for me yet) "Adulting School tuition"...

  • very well-spoken answers! It's fascinating to see how different the situations are but the overall energy being very similar🌸

-thank you for taking the time to respond!❣️

  • A "catastrophic" system is one like a light switch. It has to be pushed over-centre, to make it change state ; and having done so, it has to be pushed over-centre the other way, to make it change back.

I guess most of us are like that, we like to stay in a situation that isn't good, because the alternative may be worse ; even though if the choice were presented to us now, we wouldn't have taken it.

I've recently had to make some "this really isn't working" decisions, and they are tough. I've found it helps to have some reliability to fall back on, which is why I'm concentrating on my fitness ; one is less worried about not having the money for a bus/taxi/train home, if one can walk 1, 2, 5, 10, or even 20 miles.

I find myself keeping very busy doing things at home that I didn't know needed doing. I also volunteer online with The Laboratory To Combat Human Trafficking and The American Red Cross.
I am a people person. and I have missed the face to face interaction, hand shakes, hugs and cuddles.

  • Awesome question ..... for me I don’t know if I’m fulfilling my purpose ,I also don’t know if there is a purpose at all ... also it seems that people hat put themselves 1st have the most fun, & those who put themselves 2nd always leave themselves vulnerable... to ease this, I feel what feels right to me & live/carry my life that way : )

  • Has to be the coming home to an empty house. Not much to be done about it I just try to keep busy.

  • A couple things I've dealt with this year are getting divorced & now living on my own, as well as my new job (after being laid off at the end of 2019). I'm thankful to have found a new job, and one reason I thought it would be an interesting place to work is that it's a consulting company, so we'd have a wide variety of different projects to work on. And it's the type of thing where we're sometimes thrown into the deep end (as a co-worker there said), and we have to sort of learn as we go if it's an area we're not so familiar with. I've been having to do that the past couple weeks, and I've felt like I've struggled a bit getting part of this project working (and hoping they'll find my work satisfactory), but I've made a bit of progress toward the end of last week. One thing that can really affect my mood is how well I'm doing on my job (and thus my ability to earn a living and support myself and contribute to the activities I do with other people, etc.).

Not having in-person therapy since we were doing body work that we can’t really do over a computer screen, and recently getting into a heated debate about that with the therapist.

I live alone, so the majority of the week is spent alone. With that comes platonic touch deficits which sometimes is insanely hard to deal with when it feels relentless and unending.

Addressing it: I connect with specific people any way I can. Video calls. Phone calls. Emails. Cuddle sessions. Cuddle with my super cuddly dog. Go for walks. Come on here and chat. Watch movies. Get things done that need doing. Clean. Declutter and reorganize my house one section at a time. Etc.

TLDR: The loneliness and platonic touch deficits. Solution: address the need.

The most challenging thing about my recent or overall living? How do I pick.

Is it how bright everything is? How loud everything is? How powerfully scented everything is? How texturally overwhelming everything is? The constant demand for delicate facial contortions in face to face interaction? The equally constant insistence on specific body language?

Maybe it's the fact that even to get a night job a photosensitive has to interview during the day, or perhaps it's the blindingly blazing special accomodations daylighters set up for themselves on every street corner.

I suppose it could also be the requirement to work, work, earn money if you don't want to die. Who says life is a human right? What is this right to life? I'm pretty sure disabled people don't have it: if you can't go out of doors during the day, can't drive a car, can't make the right faces or pose the right way, you don't deserve a job, don't deserve to make money, don't deserve a place to live, food to eat, clothes to wear—you don't deserve to live.

The most challenging thing, dear me. I guess it would be just plain trying to stay alive in a society so clearly not meant for people like me.
