  • And @Sideon with the over-the-top option, holy hell!

  • @quixotic_life Stop!! You are making me hungry!!!

  • @MelanieL
I hear that anti-obesity campaigners are trying to close down the forum, for promoting unhealthy behaviour.

See any answer in the thread "cute things that are surprisingly dangerous to cuddle."

  • I have a new one, strawberry and rhubarb pie heated up, with prickly pear sorbet on top. The combination of warm and cold is always magical.

  • Yogurt. Only time I can have it with out sharing with my minions.

  • @UKGuy
This idea is too hard for a midnight snack, but the epitome of hot and cold is Baked Alaska ; where a block of ice-cream is covered in meringue ( acting as thermal insulation foam ), then fruit, and baked in an oven.

It could be done by just adding the ice-cream afterwards, but that would lose the magic.

  • I often eat an avocado in the middle of the night. Just cut it in half, salt the heck out of it, take it into bed with a spoon, and try not to drop pieces of it on my white sheets in the dark.

  • @littermate
"Spooning an avocado" now has two images in my head. 😊

  • @littermate When I learned they are a healthy food, I looked up "ways to eat avocado" because if I made guac I'd probably be buying some chips lol. I found lemon juice, balsamic vinegar and salt and pepper as 3 oft mentioned things to sprinkle, and cut up a couple one day try all of them. Enjoyed all three, and I'd say pretty equally. Definitely better than I enjoy eating a bite of avocado with nothing on it.

  • You know.....I've never had almond butter. Just regular butter, peanut butter.....and apple butter. What other kinds are there? I'll have to put together a butter sampler.

I do like butter pecan ice cream

  • @AceCuddlerMike
Note the letter similarity between :
    Avocado ate
    Advocate

  • Thanks for those yummy ideas @AceCuddlerMike ! I'll try some. Butters - there's a nut butter for almost every nut! I'm allergic to all of them so I just watch others while drooling. I'd be interested to see your assembled butter collection and the results of the tasting for my own vicarious pleasure.

  • @littermate I'm sorry, that sucks. ALL nuts? And they all have butters? Imma look for pistachio butter!! Hope there are no shells in it

  • @littermate hazelnut isn't actually a nut .. .

  • Have to correct myself. Tahini is sesame seed butter, and I have had that. I cannot find a pistachio butter. Can someone get on that please?

  • Nope, that's out there too!!! Expensive though

  • Wow!
I'll look into hazelnuts @pmvines as they are pretty much my favorite nut. I can also eat tahini and one of my fav treats is coconut butter and tahini on toast. Sorta like a healthfood version of a fluffernutter.

  • @littermate mmmmm, a fresh bread roll and a glass of hard cider to wash it down..

  • Omg! @dontremember ~ That hard cider deal is brilliant! I wonder if that could work for kombucha...?

  • @quixotic_life - I expect it would. Your kombucha would be a little fizzy, depending on how high the gas pressure is set. I made 5 gallons of pink wine for Christmas one year, that worked out pretty well in the keg.

That picture is a fake, though - I parked the glass there while putting the tap back, and it looked like it would make a good joke, The kegs are not hooked up, but they could be. The water line runs through the back of the fridge behind the kegs, so it would be easy to plumb in.

  • Whoa @dontremember that's quite a cider setup! And fresh baked bread rolls......... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

I've made kombucha but I've never made kombucha that I loved. I did make lacto-fermented ginger ale once that was quite impressive.

  • Cider is really easy to make - 5 gallon of cheap apple juice, a couple of pounds of sugar, 1 package of yeast and a container big enough to take it all. Mix together and let sit for about 6 weeks. Works out at about $6 per gallon, 8% to 9% ABV. When I keg it, I sweeten it with cans of frozen apple juice concentrate.

  • White cheddar popcorn and green tea

  • @MsJaxxs Chicago style is bomb

  • ohgodloveus white cheddar popcorn. i'm an addict.

  • @dontremember thanks. i'm gonna try that!

  • @littermate
I got some popcorn recently, for the first time in ages. My eating of it was a good mimic of a bucket-wheel excavator.
