P.S. I'm looking forward to the thread "Return of Mike403".
Me too @geoff1000. Here's the relevant history. Oh Lordie, makes me want to hug him for decades.
• Mike403 @geoff1000 - Being infected with something called "babies" is bad enough as it is. • littermate Babies BAD? Huh? I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat. Bring on the babies! • Mike403 @littermate - lol. it's bad if it's unwanted. • littermate Ah. • geoff1000 Unprotected sex is like a magic trick : A baby appears, and the father disappears. • FunCartel @Mike403 An unwanted baby is not bad. I have a brother that my parents adopted. It’s only bad to people who only think of themselves. What kind of f’d up thinking is that to say that an unwanted baby is bad? The baby did not do anything wrong to warrant that judgement. • Mike403 @FunCartel - Not everybody wants or can take care of kids. It has nothing to do with being selfish. • geoff1000 A shower of rain can be good or bad ; it depends if you are fighting a forest fire, or enjoying a picnic. A doctor has done a pregnancy test on a young woman. "I've got some good news for you Mrs Smith." "It's Miss Smith, actually." "Oh, then I've got some bad news." In some countries / religions, single mothers are murdered for bringing shame on the family. That's quite a bad outcome by any measure. • FunCartel @Mike403 You still don’t get what you wrote. That unwanted babies are bad. That statement is entirely selfish on so many levels. First the parties involved were definitely down for getting off, but the result of their hedonism is bad? The result is a human and you are passing judgment on the baby because it is an inconvenience. That is entirely selfish. Second, how can a newborn be bad? The newborn is not making ethical or moral decisions yet. But someone who says the baby is bad because it is unwanted is making one of those decisions and it says a lot about that person. It says they have an external locus of control and nothing is really their fault. This is not a comment on a fetus but rather about a birthed baby. To say “Unwanted babies are bad” is a horrible statement no matter how you slice it. You may have been unwanted and unplanned at the time and your parents never told you. Does that make you bad? • Mike403 @FunCartel - When I said that they can be infected with "babies" I meant pregnancy which can be unwanted. End of discussion. I'm done arguing with you. • FunCartel @Mike403 you are dodging what you said by going to a different post. That says a lot. • Mike403 @FunCartel - im still not understanding. The word in my mind meant "pregnancy" and I didnt see how it would be offensive to others. • FunCartel @Mike403 Here is the initial post: @geoff1000 - Being infected with something called "babies" is bad enough as it is. • FunCartel @Mike403 Then here is your follow up after littermate questioned it: @littermate - lol. it's bad if it's unwanted • FunCartel “Babies” as you put it, are the result of a completed pregnancy. Pregnancy is a period of gestation. Two different things. • Mike403 I'm sorry. I have autism, so I may say something without understanding how others will perceive it. I think it would be best if I take a time-out from this site for awhile before I piss anyone else off. I apologize to everyone.
@littermate Yes, that's exactly the exchange I was thinking about.
Although you did say "I don't like reading very long posts", I hope you'll excuse yourself. 😀
Hahaha, no, I have sent myself directly to jail without passing go. Actually, what I mean is, a single long post that has multiple paragraphs by a single person--I seem to rarely want to invest the time.
Oh my.
@hugonehugall To be fair ; the mother spent the most time on making the baby, the father just popped in for a moment and left a small deposit.
@geoff1000 Kids are like time shares ..... you really only want them for a week but you’re stuck with the rest of your life until you can find away to get rid of them.
@hugonehugall I like the scene in "Terminator 2" where Arnie picks up the little kid by his dungarees and looks at him, confused.
Knock~knock... @Mike403 ...you home yet?
...sigh...
🙇♀️
@quixotic_life Some bereaved parents console themselves that the child's soul has perhaps returned in another body.
Maybe Mike has started again with a new username and we've been chatting with him for weeks.
He's a good example of, "You only miss something when it's gone".
@hugonehugall Perhaps for you. And that's sad to me.
My daughter has been a delight since she entered my womb and has consistently been that. Not to say there haven't been challenging parts, but being a mother of this other human being has been a wondrous, heart-opening, consciousness-expanding gift.
Children are like the next stage of a multi-stage rocket. We get them as high and as fast as we can, then let them go, and hope they go higher and faster still.
@littermate no for it to be sad ... if I don’t want them I don’t want them there’s nothing to be sad about a personal decision I made and not wanting to bring another unwanted child into the world we have enough already.
@hugonehugall Oh, ok, no worries on not wanting them - I thought you had them and felt that way. Totally with ya.
My parents say that I treat children as if they were small adults. I can't think of any other way.
@FunCartel I guess he didn't mean babies were actually bad. Just the situation. I could see how somebody on the spectrum might be thrown by that. You must have very strong feelings on the subject. Usually you have very keen insight but it looks like not this time. I hope everybody heals up alright, you included.
My uncle was overjoyed after breaking his leg in a motorbike crash, because he married his nurse. At the moment of impact, I don't think he was so happy.
A woman who is busy pushing during birth, probably has an ambivalent view on how happy she is at that precise moment.
It seems obvious that a baby is not inherently bad but its existence being unintended is bad... dispute nullified; a misunderstanding that should never have been a dispute.
How the baby itself and the intention of its existence by its parents got mixed together as the same thing and fought over as being good or bad, I don't know.
They're two different things.
Anything can be a dispute, if people try hard enough.
"Have a nice day !" "Don't tell me what kind of a day to have."
Wow. This really makes me feel loved. I missed you all.
It's great seeing that this thread actually worked.
Welcome back @Mike403!
@respectful - I haven't seen the thread until I came back and @quixotic_life pointed me to it.
🤗🤗🤗 Big (((HUGS))) to you @Mike403!!! 🥰
Welcome back, @Mike403!
Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! I'm glad you didn't let things get you so down you didn't return. Welcome back!
@littermate - hugs
@Mike403 good to see you old friend
@Mike403 Hugs!
If anybody is in a reading mood, I thought I'd share a paper I wrote in one of my college classes. It's about autism and mental health.
