Poly, i don't think you should be surprised when some take offense when in effect, you are asking them to help pay for a hotel room that you ultimately  plan on keeping for yourself and a few chosen playmates.  You havent exactly picked the low cost option for local rooms either.

And as for your other group, words do have meaning. Seems like you are doing a bit of "cross pollination" with a group that some here might feel a bit uncomfortable with.

But hey, its your party. You can invite whomever you would like. So good luck with that.

I just want to chime in because I can attest from this experience planning my own party, I have invested more than 10 to 12 hours already and my event is this upcoming Saturday... it's a lot of work. Please be kind to your host.

please understand, as it was stated above, most "cuddle parties" are 3 to 4 hours long and the standard charges $30 per person for the event.

For example, my room cost $191 at the residence Inn and I am buying/making fancy food. I have eight people confirmed and I am charging $30 per person.

Also I AM NOT allowing any men to stay overnight.  I will have professional and nonprofessional cuddlers attending, no one is going to be charging extra. At this event everyone pays the same $30 and everyone is treated as a cuddle curious participant...  there are no pros or non-pros, just people.  Any connections that are made at the party for  cuddling at a later date between those people is fine. This is a meet and greet event,  and really helps eliminate that first awkward meeting and is for the purpose of community building.

I absolutely support how @Poly  is planning his event! The amount of time and energy and effort put in and the out-of-pocket expense is very reasonable at $30 per person.  I'm unsure why it is a problem that everyone isn't staying overnight?   That many people in one room is against hotel policy. Unless you would rather have a crappy motel 6 type of gathering?  That would be less expensive but probably also a lot less classy,  but hey, they will leave the light on for you.

Residence Inn by Marriott has a large spacious area in their suites, they are very clean and they have a full-size kitchen.  I have been very open to suggestions from the participants in my own party here in Maryland, working together instead of against each other is going to make your party more of a success.

Poly Lover, you are awesome for taking this on. I'm sending you a big hug and a high-five because I am feeling you on all of the planning and time you are putting into this.
  • @I_Am_Polylover. Dear Jim, What you are doing is great and if I was in town I and my partner would attend. It takes so much work, I know I have run this kind of gathering, not on this site but on others, the get together is a meet and greet and see what happens, as for $30USD about $48NZD this is so reasonable my last gathering was $110NZD per person, did not include wine, BYO.
It was a cabin venue so overnight stay's could happen.
26 people attended and partly worked 2 people had to be asked to leave.
Jim, good on you for trying.
Love and peace John Auckland NZ.

I do appreciate that Jim is taking the time to plan this but I was just voicing my concerns. I seriously had considered putting my name on the list before I heard all of the terms. But Jim is exactly right he can plan it however he wants. Its his event. I think the men only or women only in the room after the party is a great idea. A typical overnight is between 3 and 5 hundred dollars so it doesn't seem fair to me to have one or two guys get the benefit of that when we all paid for the party. However, good luck and hope it turns out well.

For myself the when and where will be the biggest factors. Are you thinking May? June? July?
  • I can see how it would seem unfair that one guy is spending the night with a bunch of female cuddlers as a result of this event.  Maybe it wouldn't be that way if it was hosted by a woman and also if there wasn't such a difference between male cuddlers vs female cuddlers when it comes to need and availability.    There are plenty of male cuddlers and not enough female cuddlers.
I don't see the appeal in a group setting myself since I like one on one interactions.  I'm not a social butterfly and don't do well in groups.
But maybe this kind of thing works.  Maybe someday I will break free from my social phobias and try it.

  • [Deleted User]chococuddles (deleted user)
Once all the info on the event is out people can decide if it's for them or not. Like @greenearth I'm pretty anti-social and prefer one-on-one interactions but this seems like a great opportunity to meet some great snugglers and like-minded individuals. Hoping the dates and times match up with my schedule. *fingers crossed*
  • @poonie  First of all, I take offense at you thinking I would have a few playmates stay overnight with me.  Secondly, I think that some of the female cuddlers one here might also take offense at being referred to as playmates.  I am surprised that you are even on this site with that type of thinking.  Thirdly, There may be one and at most two women stay after the party ends, if they so desire to do so for cuddling purposes only.  I don't see how that would make them playmates, if there is even a them.  In the fourth place, you apparently haven't read the entire thread.  The $274 was the first price that I saw on the hotel website, and having had practically zero experience in dealing with hotels, that is the price I went with, to begin with.  When I went back later I noticed that the prices vary wildly depending on the date booked.  I posted on this thread that the cost could be considerably less than the $30 originally stated.  I should have said 'probably would be', instead of' could be'.  In the fifth place, sometimes words have multiple meanings, some in this case not so bad.  Since I am obviously a member of that group, I took masterofcuddle's statement as a personal attack on me saying that I should not be on this site.  If some people are uncomfortable with me, then they should obviously not attend an event put on by me.  Whatever groups I or anyone else is a member of, should have nothing to do with how we are viewed on this site.  Only our behavior here, our willingness to follow the rules, and our respect for others should be what counts.  You and masterofcuddle are not doing much to keep what respect I had for you.  I wouldn't count on me responding to either of you again.
  • @FireAndBlue & @funandadventure  You both chiming in and offering your support, is so much appreciated.  The virtual hug is also much appreciated, as is the love you both put into your messages.

For the record, nothing I said was a personal attack. I could care less what group or groups you are part of. And I never said you shouldn't be in this group at all. What I said was that I don't believe, personally, in mixing the two groups. I like the members of our group. But that is just my opinion and obviously many others tend to agree with you. Nothing was meant as a personal attack.
  • They are already mixed, considering that I am here, therefore what you said was a personal attack.
  • [Deleted User]masterofcuddle (deleted user)
By mixed I mean both at the same event. But whatever, if you think it's personal that is fine with me.
  • [Deleted User]masterofcuddle (deleted user)
And yes I understand you are a member of both groups
  • @I_am_polylover  Hey sweetie! I think what you're doing is fantastic!  I also think you're doing a great job! I have assisted in different events before! I have rarely ever been the main host of something! Taking something like this on  requires a great deal of time, energy and organization! You are doing a FANTASTIC job! I completely agree with everything that fire and fun/John stated previously!  Just remember, you have support! If you need to lean on some of us then just  contact us!  Keep in mind that there are many people who are grateful for what you're doing whether or not they are posting comments saying so!  I want you to imagine that you are getting a huge, grateful, group hug right now! I'm also sending you my own personal huge  and supportive hug! If there's anything you need just PM me! HUGE HUG!!!!

  • @snuggle554321. you rock and group hug from Ruth and I.
  • You guys are fantastic in your support!  I took a me day today and didn't think about the party.  My family paid my way to Disney's California Adventure as a birthday present.  I'll be doing some PMs or emails concerning the party tomorrow.

  • Hay Jim, Happy Birthday.
  • [Deleted User]Unknown (deleted user)
    Happy Birthday!
  • Once again, left out of all the fun due to geography! sigh......
  • hello! I'm new here and once again wishing there where more cuddlers in my area and events like these. hopefully when I travel I can go to a snuggle gathering of yours in the future.

thank you Jim for your effort and commitment, you are awesome, and happy Birthday! <3

  • Thank you Rockstaar, I also hope you will be able to attend an event of mine in the future.  However, for now this one has to be postponed.  I was whacked with some very large and very unexpected expenses, and can not afford to add anything else to any of my credit cards, even on a short term basis.  My guess is that it will take me at least a couple of months before I'll be able to handle this newly created debt.  In the meantime, please continue to sign up, because it would be good to have 10 to 12 people ready whenever I am able to put on the event.

    On a positive note...
    I
had made a suggestion of my event on several meetup groups, and someone
from one of them sent me the following message night before last.  I have already shared this with those who signed up for my event.

    Silver
Lake is a Los Angeles Community that is not too far from Pasadena, and
she is charging $20 before 4/30/17, and $25 afterwards.  For
right now, I can't even afford the $20.  She does
have limited availability, so you should probably sign up right away.

Amazing! So soon and so close to me. Thanks for sharing this!

    Mouse ears can be pricy!
  • @I_am_Polylover I'm down if this is happening. If we all pitched in for the event, would it make it easier for you to organize? What costs were you expecting to incur?
  • I'd have to put the hotel room on my credit card, and of course pay my fair share. But I won't be able to do that for at least a couple of months unless I get a new source of income, which I am working on.  We also need more women to sign up for it. That is the biggest bottleneck right now.
    ♥Jim
  • maybe you can create a GoFundMe? just an idea. I wish you the best of luck! <3

  • How do you get more females to go?
