  • Depends is the volcano active? If it falls into a dormant cool volcano it will just wreck as if it was any other cliff.

  • All the lava would freeze, obviously

  • Um hot fudge sundae 😜

    It would solidify and become a new element

  • I would just be impressed that an ice cream truck was even able to make it up the volcano to begin with.

  • Ice cream would explode and rain over the world

  • In principle it's a trivial calculation.

    Q = mc∆T
    Q = mL

    Q energy
    m mass
    c specific heat capacity
    T temperature
    L latent heat

    In practice you'd have to model the temperature at different heights above the lava (since the truck would obviously float in the first instance) and then of course you'd have to deal with each component/material of the truck separately.

    Does anybody happen to know if c or L vary much for different flavours of ice cream?

  • Well thermal mass being a thing there will be some variation depending on what's IN the ice cream whole berries,gummi bears/worms, nuts etc may have different temps than the ice cream itself depending on a few factors.
    Temp of freezer amount of time in said freezer were they stored in the same temp before being moved to the truck how long was each case outside of the freezers while being moved. There's a lot of data one could choose to take into account lol.

    Ice Cream Temp = (VI* TI \ ML * TL) / (1/C)

    VI = volume of ice cream
    TI = temp. of ice cream
    ML = mass of lava
    TL = temp. of lava
    C = my ability to give a crap

    If such a thing ever happened, a new god would be born. It would rise from the volcano, a writhing mass of tentacles, covered in scores of unblinking eyes. In the moments after its creation, the deities' omniscience would inform it that it was doomed to create, to oversee, and to judge; that it would be alone in the universe, save for the lesser life that it crafted.

    Anyone nearby—perhaps tourists sipping at drinks with little umbrellas jutting from the glasses—would see the god spasm upon that realization, and everyone across the earth would feel the god's psychic shriek as it became familiar with terror. Then, with its omnipotence, the horrified god would tear apart its nascent body, committing suicide.

    However, from the corpse of the god, life would spring forth in the form of simple, brutal entities that ravaged all that they came across.

  • @UltimateChungus I think you may be vastly overestimating the energy density of ice cream, though I suppose the chemical soup that most things are made of these day could conceivably mutate some heretofore unknown lava dwelling microbial lifeform... and I do love a good apocalypse.

    @UltimateChungus Sounds like you have a thorough grasp of Washington DC.

  • I love this 🤣 great thread. It would melt but what I WISH would happen is an explosion of ice 🍨 🍦 gets shattered all across the land 😍

  • The ice cream would melt and then boil, but it would be hard to tell that anything happened.
    Even the gas tank of the ice cream truck might not do much.

  • nothing that a good cuddle cud not sort out - any vols?
