@Amortentia: Not all kids lack emotional control, though—there are some real manipulative little brats out there, faking tears to make the people around them feel bad and cave to their demands.
Not that the ability is strictly a kid thing, obviously. Like, I can cry on command (and throw up on command, too). Pretty much anybody can lie (albeit with varying levels of skill). The childish thing is doing it to get your own way; to please yourself, and to perdition with everyone else.
...My unhidden talent is analysis. Not sure I have any hidden ones.
Many children cry as a means of getting what they want , particularly those who have parents that drop everything to give them attention for it. It becomes a learned behavior. Like Pavlovs dog, with the adult being the dog . They dont learn constructive ways to communicate their needs so they learn to get what they want through crying , yelling , and whining . Then they become adults who do the same thing .
For everyone who doesn’t realize this was meant to be a sarcastic post. I was asking what is your flaw/ quirk/ something you screw up all the time hence my post about constantly getting a flat tire nearly every month. For example: “I am really talented at being late all the time, no matter how early I get up I always manage to find a way to be late”.
@xandriarain Oh! In that case, I change my answer. Whenever I leave my apartment, I'm fantastic at getting extra steps into my daily step count by going back to check whether my door is locked 100,000 times. %*$&

This talk of crying on command really surprises me. @Amortentia, does this really work (as an adult)? I've always assumed that if I cry, people won't take me seriously and I'll be less likely to get the outcome I want. So I don't dare do it. But I have no idea what I've based this assumption on. Maybe I've been wrong the whole time!

I also have a talent for going to the drive up ATM , making a withdrawal , retrieved my bank card and paper receipt , then Driving away leaving the cash still in the ATM ‘s cash dispenser
It’s a good for me that there are no drive thru pro cuddlers. I would probably drive up and pay at the first window , then drive past the cuddler , or if the cuddler is first I would take the hug , and drive away forgetting to pay
@DarrenWalker oh my gosh yes I know. I've encountered such too. On one side I think they're smart and on the other I'm glad I'm not a parent lol
@pmvines yes but what does that have to do with crying on command? Not really sure why it's even about kids but a child does learn ways to communicate when they can't speak from birth. When a baby cries it tells us it might need a diaper change or is hungry or wants attention or whatever. That's their language at that age and also their survival too since they can't communicate any other way.
@Amortentia my comment was in reference to the premise that children cry when physically or emotionally hurt. I hear what you are saying re child development and communication and it is accurate . I commend your knowledge on the matter . Child development theories have never been my strongsuit
I have the uncanny ability to forget my lunch at home at least twice a week !

I’m really good at neglecting my laundry and Have a massive heap of clean clothes in my living room most weeks and just get my clothes out of the heap rather than folding and putting the clothes away.

@xandriarain I’m in that same club!!! Curb hitting nails and metal shards find my tires every 3 weeks. They have a special seat for me at the mechanics, lol. Seriously not joking. Lyft is becoming my new best friend.
