Whenever anybody asks “What’s the best camera,” somebody is bound to answer “The one that you have with you.” Sometimes, I think that I’ll never learn.
My wife and I were camped in the T.H. Stone Memorial St. Joseph Peninsula State Park (what a mouth full) in the Florida panhandle. One evening we walked over to the beach to watch the sunset. “It’s getting dark” I thought. “I won’t find anything to photograph.” I left my camera in camp.
How I wished that I had brought my camera and telephoto, when birds started flying past the sun. I grabbed my phone and was able to get a few shots. Indeed, “The best camera is the one you have with you.”

I've always had difficulty trying to get a decent photo of a Ghost Crab. They're skittish, and not exactly slow moving. When I spotted this guy walking in a straight line, I got in front of him, sat down in the sand and waited. He walked right up to me and posed for his portrait.

🌈 dispersion on a stroll
It got cold and snowy in Yellowstone, so my wife and I headed home. Along the way, we stopped off to spend three days in Badlands National Park. Each day, we saw many Bighorn Sheep, but they were all ewes or lambs. Giving up on finding any rams to photograph, we decided to continue our journey home, and left the park.
About two miles from the town of Wall, I spotted a group five rams, clustered so close together, that my photos were nothing but a jumble of legs and horns. Eventually, two of them separated from the group enough for me to to get a photo. This was September 24, and it was surprising to see no aggression between them, considering that in another week or so, they would be violently slamming their heads together.

My absolute favorite frog species is the Green Frog, and I’m lucky enough to always have a few of them living in the pond beside my patio. Most any other frog species will disappear into the water, long before I can get close enough for a decent photo. My Greens will sometimes jump away, but just as often, they will completely ignore me. This female calmly sat there posing for her portrait while I screwed on a closeup adapter, and then took here picture from about 18 inches away.

@respectful awesome! Thanks! And the frog was actually very tiny! He blended so well with his habitat that I nearly missed him altogether.

That picture is amazing in every way: the unexpected setting for a hula hoop shot, the play of the light in the background, the way the blur of the hoop makes it look like an oversized halo that slipped, and of course the cool bean herself. 🥰
One of my favorite places for photographing wading birds is along a narrow canal just inside the Shark Valley entrance to Everglades National Park. The birds have learned that people never cross the canal, which has a large alligator population, so they have no fear of us. The well lit foreground and dense dark background are ideal lighting conditions to display this Great Blue Heron.

@Nature_Lover_ wow I love the cave picture. My friend and I would love to come down and hike through that. I see an outdoor hiking/cuddle party. I’m looking for a big hammock that goes between lots of trees. Wouldn’t that be epic outdoor cuddle party between the trees. Gazing at the stars and having a group overnight cuddle.
