@blueiris I’ve been retired for six years, but tied up for two with medical issues that precluded travel, and the last four years I’ve had a volunteer position that has required my frequent presence here in suburban Chicagoland. My hope is that by next winter, I will have found a place, likely in Florida where I can go with my two small dogs. Lucky you to be headed in that direction now.

Sitting through a movie my mother insisted we watch (bonding time). I'm pretending to watch for her sake but I can't stand most romances or this dainty my fair lady nonsense. I wish someone would fight somebody already, given the storyline and whatnot. I'd have given up watching by now if the storyline wasn't decent.

Cleaning up a mess. I came home to find out I had a broken window in the livingroom.
Day four of vacation and laundry is caught up, shopping is almost done, career options are in the works, the latest glass project (Christmas platter) turned out really well, quiche and coffee for breakfast, and life is GOOD.

Woke up to 22 degrees and a dusting of snow from last night, so I've got the heater blasting, am wrapped up in a warm robe and am just trying to get warm.
Temps are hovering right around zero degrees F here in far west Chicagoland. I have a weekly breakfast group - old men, of which I am usually the youngest. I drove over the 3 inches of snow in my driveway to get out, but returning home I found that my lawn care folks had been here and cleared the drive. My two dogs both hate the cold snow on their paws, so I took them on leash to the cleared drive and walk, but at this temperature, none of us wanted to stay outside long. I thought of lighting a fire in the fireplace, but so much heat goes out via the open flue, that while it is toasty right in front of the fireplace, the rest of the house gets cold!
