@Bles I have a different experience. I could give a crapola about contradicting societal norms and mores and peeps can scrutinize and scorn away. I'm 100% without reservation this wackadoodle self in my life, work, etc. It's possible!
When you're in a space of questioning you sensor every gesture, every comment as a potential slight. Even when the intention was positive or simply neutral. It can be a huge challenge to keep that balance between sensoring and understanding with appreciation even as you question.

You can block a person from your life. But the reality s/he lives still exists.
Life happens. When it does you live and breathe through it without thinking. When it doesn't you feel and think about everything possible.
To be disfavored means to be disliked for being honest. It means to be ostracized for thinking and living outside of accepted norms and mores. It means to be the mockingbird every one either wants to avoid or kill.
Every one has an agenda. Sometimes it's about what they're seeking. Some times it's about what they're needing. At other times it may just be about what they're feeling. Whatever the agenda is it never hurts to reflect to another what s/he says and does. Who knows if your reflection may be the acknowledgement of some unmet agenda. Whatever it is.
The only difference between the rapist and therapist is space.
