Some biscuits I made the week I left Oshawa. I skipped out on the milk and used water instead. They still turned out wonderful. It’s a Food Network recipe by Ree Drummond and it’s my favourite biscuit other than my copycat Cheddar Bay ones.
Now that I’m stopped over in Toronto at a family friend’s house, I’m eating a lot of Afghan cuisine. Afghan tea, bread, palau, kefta, lassi, mixed nuts and dried chickpeas, and dumplings to name a few. They’ve been shoving meat at me, which I usually don’t eat as of the last year and a half due to a change in my diet. Still, I have chosen to treat these meals like the delicacies they are to me, and accepted them. My ex, as I’ve mentioned lots to folks on here, is Afghan. Best friend is probably the more apt word. We’ve known each other over 10 years, now that I think of it.
This food is simply home to me. 🌹 Here’s a photo of the palau and the delicious chicken (and fish) I was served earlier this week.

I finally made some saag paneer that I was happy with for the first time. I mostly used Swiss chard that I grew in my garden.
I used this recipe. Were I to make it again, I’d use half the paneer and probably half the butter. It was really tasty and I can’t wait to make it again.

Saag paneer is lovely. I like adding in half sour pickles and some pickling vinegar, making it into what’s technically saag ka achar.
If you like pickles, of course.

They used to have Coldstone up here in Canada at Tim Hortons. Now it's gone and I miss it. I'm not sure where else you can get it up here, if anywhere.
