How far are you willing to drive for a cuddle session?

As a pro I am willing to drive longer distances for cuddle sessions. For me anything under 45 minutes is close, 45 minutes to 90 minutes is typical and anything over 90 minutes is far but I still occasionally drive over two hours for a long session. I recently got an office to host clients thinking it would be a huge hit but a lot of people are saying its too far because they live 45 minutes away and I just don’t get it. Cuddling is not popular enough to have that many people in such a small radius unless you are in NYC. I’m pretty frustrated by the situation but also curious what the norm is in terms of what most people are willing to drive whether its with a pro, client or enthusiast.

I can't drive. So. "I won't drive at all" would be my answer, I guess.

  • Great question !! Ideal for me would be 30 minutes but I wouldn’t mind an hour away ... if it is more than an hour away than I would want to be able to do something or enjoy something the place has to offer like say, a really nice restaurant / movie theater / museum / irish bar / something very intriguing... may I ask, did you get a lease on the office? I believe that the cuddling market is too niche & small, even in a place like nyc, but I’m sure pros would know better than me...

  • @introvme thankfully it is a month to month lease I just moved in yesterday and I’m still getting it set up. I am going to give it about six weeks. I’m hoping that in the next six weeks I can get at least 12 clients if I fall far short of that I might have to consider another office location or just giving up on having an office. I do think there is a high concentration in NYC. There is actually a part of this website that gives you data on how many pros are in each state.

@xandriarain I am soo glad you got a month to month lease! You were very smart in doing so and therefor you don’t have much liability and risk except for just 2 months if you stick to the 6 week goal ... as far as the data, I was referring more to if renting a space would be worth it, I imagine most pros either being guest / some hosting / many allowing the client to get a hotel room, but I like to think that the most successful ones are those that host at their place (no extra overhead expenses or having to spend money on transport/ gas / tolls to get to the client unless the client helps cover the cost) & those who would be guests... as far as those who travel (go to different states) they can be very successful but to be successful with traveling its an art in itself & those that do it know exactly what they’re doing & are really good at it... (these are just my thoughts)

  • @introvme I have entertained the idea of hosting for about a year now and have considered many options. Hosting in my apartment was never an option because I live with my boyfriend, two dogs, two rabbits, and six guinea pigs and there is no space or privacy for clients. And because of my aforementioned roommates traveling around the country isn’t really an option either . Over the summer I called a couple office buildings but got rejections and hesitancy when I said I was a professional cuddler. Then in September my boyfriend and I adopted a bonded pair of dogs and we soon realized we really needed more space so we started looking at houses to rent, I was planning on having a dedicated cuddle room in the house, but unfortunately the market has been super competitive so we kept getting rejected. One day I looked at office spaces for rent on Facebook Market place and found one for very cheap no too far from me. I presented myself as a “platonic touch practitioner” and the landlord didn’t bat an eye. Either way I would have paid about the same additional money to have the house or to rent the office but the office is a month to month lease so it is far less risk.

  • @xandriarain I definitely see how traveling is out of the question , or hosting unless it is in the office space you now have ...the great thing about this 6 week trial is that you will build your own data, & see if the idea of having a dedicated room for hosting when you & your bf eventually get your home even worth it, because clients don’t see a difference wether you’re hosting at home or at a space, all they see is ‘the cuddler can host’ if for whatever reason they themselves can’t host... so you’ll see the demand in these next several weeks. hey, we will never know unless we try, & life is about taking risks as well & through experience we get insight & learn what works & what doesn’t.

  • I lived in texas for over a decade so the words "an 8 hour drive" being used after the words 'its only" isn't abnormal to me any more lol but 2 hours would be fine with me personally for longer sessions at least.

  • My max for a cuddle drive (round trip) is just under a tank of gas. So if mostly highway miles, approx. 2 hours away (4 round trip)... but it would likely only happen for a long cuddle visit with a known individual.

  • I would do 1 hour without much thought about it, but any more then that I would want a 2 hr. or more cuddle time.
I do travel a few times a year and like to make time for a cuddle, on one trip I did met a Lady for a great cuddle, for her I would drive many hours. I think it may depend more on the traffic, not so much the mileage. I don't think I would drive from one side of Atlanta Ga. to the other side for a cuddle !!! But I'm In Fl., I would rather drive across the entire side, west coast to the east coast instead of that trip across town in Atlanta, LOL

  • Umm probably 2 hours. I like driving. I’d only do it for an enthusiast and not a professional

  • It depends on whether the client is willing to pay my travel fee ($10 / 30 min of round-trip driving) ahead of time via Venmo or some other outlet.

    I just don’t get it

Well, people's time is valuable. 45 min means a 1.5 hour round trip, and 1.5 hours of driving is 1.5 hours they don't get to spend on something productive or fun.

Generally I prefer not to drive at all. It's a waste of time. Thus I strongly prefer to host, and in some cases have paid more so that I can host and avoid driving.

If I do drive, I try to keep it to 20 minutes or under. On rare/special occasions I will drive longer, but 45 minutes would be a hard sell for me.

Potentially if I met an enthusiast I was really excited about I might make a long drive, but probably not a pro.

  • Distance isn't much of a factor for me. The greater the "connection" I feel with a potential cuddle buddy, the farther I will travel to meet them. I love a road trip and often take them spontaneously. Farthest trip just for a cuddle was 358 miles, just over six hours. I drove down to PA, and an enthusiast from VA drove up from her home, so we could meet more or less in the middle. We cuddled all day and overnight, and then returned home the next day.

  • @quietman775 True for the RIGHT person I'll travel quite a ways my record at present is just under 1,600 miles (A quite enjoyable bike trip in itself)

A willingness and flexibility to travel from time to time is a contributing factor to making connections . The more rigid one is about this the more narrow their options are for meeting 0people. If it is a waste of time to travel what that might come across as is that meeting people isn't worth the effort so others aren't going to feel they are valued enough to make a connection with .

  • @pmvines as usual well spoken and dead on point mate.

  • [Deleted User]Mmart (deleted user)

I am a road trip addict and try and contact cuddlers weeks in advance to make an introduction. This way when I am near their area perhaps a connection can be made. I have had reasonable success doing this.

  • I would drive up to 1.5 hours for a non-overnight session, and up to 4 hours if I had a place to stay overnight in the city I was driving to. That's each way, so 3 and 8 hours round trip, respectively.

Anything more than an 8 hour round trip drive and I would probably opt for another method of transportation, such as flying or taking a train, depending on the prices of each method.

  • Oh there's definitely a person I'd fly cross country to see for a day visit lol but I'm known to be a bit well let's be honest crazy lol

  • edited December 2020

Earlier this year, I drove 250 miles (~400 km) each way for a 2-day cuddling date (enthusiast), but it's not really far for me as I enjoy cross country driving to the order of 1,000 miles per day.

With Spotify, distance really isn't an issue.

After I discovered that sleeping in the car is infinitely more comfortable than clusterf*ckery of hotels, I found out I can enjoy trips up to 5,000 miles.

    Of course, I wouldn't drive 5,000 miles just for a woman :)

  • Let’s see, I’ll list my highlights.
For a pro I drove 2.5 hours each way but she gave me an extra hour for the effort so it was worth my time.
Another pro I drove 3.5 hours each way. She didn’t give me any extra time nor did I ask for it but I had a really great time so again it was worth it.
For an enthusiast I drove a total of 7 hours but the connection was there and we had a great time so it was worth the drive.
And another enthusiast I actually flew into her city for a three day cuddle fest and we had a really deep deep connection so one the best times I’ve had with someone from this site.
In the end I don’t mind the drive if the connection is there or if there’s somebody I really want to see. Just turn on Pandora and drive like the wind. So when @xandriarain talks about guys balking because of a 45 minute drive I’m like what?? 🤔🤔🤔

Distance is not a problem if there’s a nice cuddle on the other end.

  • If I was driving somewhere where I'd probably stay a couple days or so, maybe 4-5 hours. Shorter than that (for a few hours, within a day or so), maybe up to a couple hours, give or take. If I was on a road trip or something, then I suppose the sky's the limit.

  • I drove five hours once for a cuddle party back when they were a thing. But I wouldn’t do that more than once a year. For an individual session, I’d probably drive no farther than an hour. Maybe two if it was an overnight.

@CuddleMeLater I understand that some people are busy and don’t have the time or want to spend the time driving. What frustrates me is that there are clients who don’t want to spend the money on a hotel, can’t host in their homes and also don’t want to drive very far and expect me to host. It feels like some people expect me to find a place to host in their backyard practically. I am happy to drive to a client if they prefer to host but I’ve had some of the same clients who complained about the hotel room cost not want to drive far either. I think people need to make a trade off and either realize they’re going to have to spend the money on a hotel if they want convenience or they can take some time out of their day to come and drive to me.

  • @xandriarain in Scotland there is a word for some such people. The ones who just sit there and can't really be bothered to make any real effort at life at all. They are called 'puddings' (often with a prefix like 'great big').

You can't convert them, so don't try.

Oh, and anybody who isn't willing to travel for an hour for a cuddle, doesn't need one.

  • @NightShift39 ~ I think it's crazy not too... 😉

clarification : Apparently my "limit" was nearly 6.5 hours round trip because I was 100% going to drive up to Seattle (from Portland) to meet someone and go ferry hopping. Then if all went well staying at a hotel for some snuggles. But we each found cuddles closer to our homes, so we never met up. But I was willing! Though I was looking into taking the train or bus up too...

  • @quixotic_life lol good because you are definitely on my must meet list miss I just HAD to be as far away as possible and still be in the same country ;)

  • The farthest I've driven for a cuddle session was 2 hours 45 minutes from southern Massachusetts to Albany, New Hampshire.

  • Hey @xandriarain ,I was thinking to fly to NYC and book a room to cuddle with when you don't have a place to host . now you have a place to host I don't have to pay for the air travel and hotel but I have to drive 5 and half hours to cuddle with you. From what I see from the respondents I am a little bit discouraged now .
