Nature cuddles

We've had some lovely weather where I am the past couple of weeks and I've enjoyed spending some time outside (I'm in Toronto and it's been over 25 degrees Celsius and sunny - woot!). One day I ended up sitting in the grass in a sunny field and was reminded that the warmth of the sun on my skin feels a bit like the warmth of a hug. It actually took the edge off my need for cuddles. I was impressed. And another day, I spent some time barefoot in grass which was lovely.

So I just wanted to remind people (and myself) to spend some time outside if you can - it might make you feel a bit better :)

I'm also wondering how other people like to 'cuddle up to nature' so to speak. Perhaps you stop to feel soft flower petals, hug trees, or squelch through nice soft mud. I'd love to hear about it.

Happy weekend to all, and happy long weekend to the Canadian cuddlers out there :)

I love this! I take my shoes off and walk barefoot in the grass. It does please the senses. I also went on a toddler-led walk barefoot and stopped to lay on the ground beside eachother frequently and we hunted for frogs in the mud. It really was fantastic. Thank you for sharing this. I completely agree that it feeds the senses. Soon I will plant a small sensory herb pot to keep on the deck just for smelling to ground myself.

  • @fegonia you are SOOOOOO right!!!! There is beauty all around and a feeling of warmth that seeps in and helps fill up those levels. I’ve got my toes in the sand this weekend and it has been LOVE-LEEEEEEY
I really appreciate your optimism!! 😊🏖♥️

  • Thanks for sharing, @Chris55555 and @sillysassy. Those sound like lovely experiences. I might just give them a try. :)

  • I live across the street from a gorgeous state park with nature trails so getting out and just admiring animals in their natural habit is enough for me..I do wish I could cuddle that poor deer who stood 5 feet away from me eating leaves just so I could pick those damn clusters ticks off his ears. But yes, being out in nature is such a revitalizing feeling we often forget when we live in the city.

I have a client who I meet with on occasion and our entire session revolves around something outdoors surround by nature whether it's hiking, chasing donkeys, walking through creeks and finding unique rocks, etc. It's a great way to connect with someone and nature simultaneously. I cannot recommend this enough, it's such a fun way to pass an afternoon.

@Envie Wait, you go out chasing donkeys together?!! That sounds like an incredible way to spend an afternoon! They're such big derps. And the sounds they make...

  • This post was poetry 🌌

I love ♥️ to cuddle up to nature by enjoying plant 🌱 life / or the night sky ☁️ / maybe a calm body of water ⛵️or seeing a mother bird building a nest nearby twig by twig/ or simply a gray sky - sensing the wind pick up/ leaves 🍃 🍁 swirling by the inevitable rainfall 🌧 that’s soon to follow.

  • Well, in my profile I completed the sentence stem “I like to cuddle while…” with “lying on the grass watching clouds,” so I guess that there is a nature cuddle, albeit with another person. I suppose feeling the “caress” off the grass beneath me and the sun above me would be a nature cuddle by itself.

    Chasing donkeys? Why?

Also, I don't know if this counts, but if I've been feeling some particularly big feelings and the weather obliges, I like to go and lie out on my lawn in the pouring rain and just feel the cold sting of the drops on my skin. It feels quite intense and it lets me shift my focus from the accumulation of noise inside my head, to the sensations outside and helps ground me and calm my thoughts.

It's like wiping a chalkboard clean.

  • @BuggleBear

I don't mean torturing them by manically chasing them down, haha I mean finding their location when they are out in a large pasture then convincing them to let us pet them.
    (◍•ᴗ•◍)

@squeakytoy massive derps! I'd be lying if I said I didn't create a Tik Tok account just to follow animal accounts, especially donkeys.

  • @Envie @BuggleBear that sounds like it should be a euphemism ....

"She, ah, 'chases donkeys', if you know what I mean" (taps nose conspiratorially).

I totally get the lying out in the rain thing. Good idea.

@CuddleDuncan Wouldn't you know it? There's an entry for "chasing the donkey" in Urban Dictionary!

"To drink coffee as quickly as possible in order to get jacked up on caffeine."

Following that definition... I should probably chase the donkey a little less, I'm starting to move like that girl from The Ring. LOL

@Envie Donkey Tiktoks are addicting!! They're so sweet. I love how people call out for them and then you just hear this big ugly "BURURURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR honk-EEE honk-EEEEEE honk-EEEEEEEEEE!!" as it runs toward them

Question—is there a thread out there dealing with cuddling outdoors on a blanket? I wondered the pros and cons and what to bring etc

  • It sounds great to me, especially if there's a summer/music festival - some are back in Milwaukee this summer.

I love nature and during some longer sessions I have gone on nature walks as part of the session. However I live in a very populated area and most nature trails and beaches near me have a lot of other people walking by and it would not be very comfortable to be there on a blanket cuddling as strangers walk by. Maybe some people are OK with this. But it seems like most people are not comfortable cuddling in a public setting with a lot of people around. However if someone had a nice backyard/private property to cuddle on I would enjoy that a lot.

  • One of my favorite cuddles was sitting by the water and watch the boats go, talk about life, dreams, day was a little crisp, , 5 hours went by in a flash, light back rubs, our hair was messy just playing and giving head scratches, it was comfortable, relaxing, easy going, and fun.

  • I live on the edge of 1.25 million acres of National Forest and it is not unusual for me to take a hike in some random direction only to find a good spot to take a nap on the ground or in a hammock.

  • I've done several sessions at the park for cuddling. I usually just bring a blanket and guide them to were I am at. I let them pick the park in my area since they're paying for the session.
