I'm curious what you guys and gals do to stay healthy.
I used to dread working out until I discovered boxing. While working out, I'm also developing a skill and the workout can be as intense and technical, or dynamic and playful as I want.
There is a lot of technique to boxing, in terms of power generation, weight distribution and movement.
There is also an extremely playful aspect to it, as a lot of it is about deceiving your opponent and moving your weight around. Good boxers are like ballerinas; intimately aware of how their weight is distributed and balanced between their legs, and when they move, they move in a way where each hop places you in another balanced position.
This really has kept me coming back and kept me from getting bored.
To the point that I look forward to it rather than dreading it.
I got proper training in a legit old school boxing gym for about four years, which taught me the technique.
My gym is gone, so I do my workouts now in a local mma gym. The teachers aren't pure boxers but it's good enough as I've already developed a good foundation.
Anyway, that's how I stay healthy. Thanks for coming to my ted talk
