What would you tell your younger self? 🧐

  • I have owned my own business now half my life. I would tell my younger self (like at age 18!) don't work for someone else! Start your own business! Now!! :)

  • Shoulda took more. You were almost there lol.

  • listen to your father more !!!!, he knows way more then you think !!

  • @waynewv glad you are back in full force!!! Listen to your father.... Funny I tell my kids all the time that they should listen to me!!! 😁😂🤣

Its so interesting when we look at our young self (and it seems like MOST youthful sorts do this) we FEEL like we know everything we need to know in order to be successful and then as we get older we realize HOW MUCH we don't know!!! I suppose there must be something inherent in our chemical makeup that creates the ability for the young to be so naive? Otherwise we might have never been able to evolve with things like ELECTRICITY!!! I mean..... do you think the Wright brothers would have actually gotten permission from their parents about things like FLYING MACHINES???? hahahahhaha who knows, but as long as we are always trying to encourage being our best self then I think we're on the right track.

@OhioMike the risk taker. You could be a business advisor with all of your encouragement. Be self employed..... DO IT NOW!!!! (Hmmmmmmm I have a bus around here somewhere.....)

  • I wouldn't tell myself anything. The experiences I have had shaped who I am and since I am happy with who I am I wouldn't want to change anything.

  • @JasonCuddles that is so amazing!!! Not everyone has the ability/desire to say “I am happy with who I am” How LOVELY!!!! And refreshing to be sure.

I wish I could tell my younger self to be “Happy with who you are. Today. Right now this second.”

    ❤️💛🧡🍁🍂🤎

-Report my abusive family situation to school
-Start planning at 14/15 on how to move out away from my family as soon as I reached adulthood
-Fight their efforts to shelter me and for my freedom while I was in HS instead of accepting it
-Stop planning so much and start acting more, get out of my head and be around people
-A lack of good habits and an abundance of poor decisions eventually add up and lead to a lot of suffering
-Connect with myself more and figure out who I am, who I want to be, where I want to go, etc.

That's some things I would tell my younger self.

It's interesting. Everyone commenting is trying to correct mistakes, but not one person has commenented that they are where they need to be in this exact moment. Looks like a lot of people aren't comfortable in their life and living with a lot of regret.

  • @Saysoh My reply to this thread said pretty much that I wouldn't change anything. I thought I had seen similar replies from one or two others, but I may be mistaken.

  • ☝️ don't use drugs and avoid bad friends.
Avoiding bad friends it's avoiding drugs.

  • Buy bitcoin and eth. And don't be afraid to board the Arcturian light ship, especially if it was an open invite to do so.

  • @11jae11 Welcome to the site!! "Before the world ends can I hug you?" That is the perfect end of the world wish. 😊😊😊

@Saysoh your comment was a bit frustrating to read. I was thinking there were SOME that were unhappy or trying to correct past mistakes but I definitely get the feeling that people are accepting of the fact that their mistakes led them to exactly where they are for better or worse.

The poll shows a variety of thought but it feels like you are calling people out a bit because it

Looks like a lot of people aren't comfortable in their life and living with a lot of regret.

I don't think that is a fair statement at all and sort of discourages people from being open and honest about wat they are thinking or feeling.

For example...... I have NEVER in my entire life felt MORE COMFORTABLE in my life than I do right now.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY LIFE!!! I might not have gotten that point across because I was asking some soul searching questions. I am living with ZERO REGRET!!! Like I wish I could use some body language and hand gestures so that you can understand how much truth and awareness there is in my saying this. I have also talked personally to QUITE a few of the individual commenters and I am pretty certain that they would (and did) say the same thing.

You are welcome to comment any time and speak to your thoughts and your own personal feelings but its tough when we generalize everyone into a specific category in a derogatory, condescending, dismissive, and in this case an actual misrepresentation of what peeps are sharing.

Maybe the way I formulated the questions could have led to a different answer, but I do think its reasonable to ask people to comment on their own personal journey and not jump to conclusions about that.

I didn't say that I am where I need to be in this exact moment because that isn't how I would word it. I would DEFINITELY say that "I LOVE WHERE I AM RIGHT NOW THIS MOMENT" My thoughts and ideas are here because of the happenings in my life and I wouldn't change them.

  • @sillysassy , I agree! :) I commented earlier in the thread about things too, but yes.......I LOVE WHERE I AM RIGHT NOW THIS MOMENT! :) :)

Tom Brady wins the superbowl his first year in Tampa. Bet the house on it.

  • @Snuggluffagus 💯!!! 😂 and he scored every incentive & bonus on his contract … that would’ve been the perfect retirement if it had happen right after that & a BIG Statement to bill belichick & Kraft! It will never be sweeter than that.

  • Save $. Invest. Finish school. Buy a home (prices were a fraction of what they are today). Don’t worry or care about what others think of you, live your life to the fullest. And finally, travel.

  • Really interesting thread! Gosh, so many things...

    You are not worthless.

    It was not your fault.

You don't have to be her friend or counselor, you're her daughter.

This is a reflection of their choices, not your value.

    You are normal, not bad.

Nothing is for certain until the wedding day.

You don't owe men sexuality for being nice to you.

    Don't delete memories.

You are not responsible for her life.

    That is OCD, not logic.

Don't be ashamed to be who you are and love what you love.

  • Dont do the homemade batch of LSD you made with your friend and his mom in their basement. Just don't

  • It's long, but I think this is probably the most important thing I could tell my younger self.

When you pack up your toys and sneak out of the house tomorrow night, keep going. Don't turn around and go back.

Keep going until you hit the library. Tell those nice ladies how your parents beat you and your siblings, how they starve you, how they warn you not to trust anyone but them, the things they tell you everyone else wants to do to you. I know you're too scared to go anywhere else, talk to anyone else: go there. Ask them to help you. Ask them to save you.

I know you think what you're doing is bad and wrong. It's not. I know you're afraid of being punished, or tortured, raped, killed.... You won't be. Go. Run, and keep running. You don't have to be afraid to ask for help. Your parents lied.

You're barely six. Your life shouldn't be like this. What they're doing is wrong.

    Keep running.

Of course, if I'd taken that advice I wouldn't be where I am now—and I really like where I am now! But still.

Don’t expect others to be fair with you. Every aspect of your life will be a competition no matter what you do when you grow up. People who may like you today may change their opinion of you the next day for no reason. If you want consistency, get a dog.

  • I would tell 30 yro me that living the dream has run its course and it's time to get a full-time job.
I would tell 20 yro me to major in a subject that pays the bills.

  • @marcustanaka 🤣😂😁 Yes.... Major in a subject that "pays the bills!" hahhahaha YES!!!

This has been such a fun re-read. I know its not always polite to raise old threads from the dead, but I am glad this one got opened back up and someone dusted off the cover.

I heard a funny quote and I just absolutely love it. I wish someone might have mentioned it a LONG time ago.....

In your 20s you care about what other people think of you. In your 40s you quit caring what other people think of you. In your 60s you realize they were never thinking of you in the first place.

I just LOVE this truth.... Everyone might lead a bit more joyful life if we just accept ourselves in our own skin. Love who we are!!!

@DaringSprinter omgosh..... YESSSSSSSSSSSS this...... But 6 year olds aren't always able to know/distinguish/see the awful for what it is/understand "NORMAL".... Thank goodness you are where you are now. 💗

Of course, if I'd taken that advice I wouldn't be where I am now—and I really like where I am now! But still.

  • @sillysassy “Everyone might lead a bit more joyful life if we just accept ourselves in our own skin. Love who we are!!!”

I could not agree more. I’ve spent much of the past 24 hours re-learning this important lesson.

  • Save your pennies and buy that Amazon, Netflix, and Stryker stock!!! Oh, and that weird bitcoin stuff!!! Lol

  • @Chad8205 why is it weird? lol … we will all utilize blockchain (regardless if we like it or understand it) / the transition to web 3 is happening / & economies will switch over to cbdc’s (digital fiat) ; )

Good habits beat knowledge. Know what you have and where you can find it. Health is more important than education.

  • edited June 2022

Just because you have good intentions doesn't mean other people have them too. Be careful.

  • @Snuggler21685 I feel you bring up great points, if you look at our school system, they teach us how to be good workers, not how to be financially free, they need to focus on finances / budgeting / investing / ownership / ect the list goes on from a very early age… unless someone goes for a specialty / has very good connections or they happen to be really well off, we will continue to have lots of people with nice degrees (sometimes 2 or more) with student loans / in debt / working somewhere completely out of their field & broke.

  • You don’t know shit and never will. It’s just the shit you will know is different from what you know now, and the shit you don’t know will be different and will proliferate and could cause blockages if you don’t learn to accept that there are things you don’t know. This is the Constipation analogy and if it didn’t cause you to think then you already don’t give a shit.
