Cuddling with facial masks on - Deal breaker or not?

Noticed some professional cuddles are only okay to cuddle with masks on even if both sides are fully vaccinated including booster shots. Personally, I feel platonic talks make you better connected without masks on. Wondering what the community feels about this.

I’m fine either way. If I have a cuddler that feels safer having one on, then I’ll wear one. Everyone is different with how they cuddle and what makes them safe so to each their own. 🌸

I completely agree safety is the priority. But some don’t mention it anywhere in their profiles and there’s always a last minute surprise. For some, it’s okay and for some, it’s not. I feel professional cuddlers should post they won’t cuddle without masks on clearly in their profiles if this is an absolute must on their end and also while booking instead of last minute surprise after showing up.

  • I got a good laugh out of the title of this thread, because I instantly pictured people cuddling with costume masks on! Lol!

  • I am generally not a fan of Cuddling in masks but will do it if requested. I have a limit with how long I can wear a mask and then I just find it hard to breathe so I would hope it would be a shorter session if I had to wear one. For me seeing someone’s face also he’s really important for communication and not being able to gives me anxiety

  • I am not a fan of cuddling with masks 😷 on. I have never cuddled with a mask on. A few have asked me about it but was able to negotiate not wearing it (due to great health and fully vaccinated status).

  • @kishorem I agree that if a professional wants masks worn, it should be in the profile. I once had a pro who wanted masks on, but I'm not sure when I would have actually found out had I not checked.

I have cuddled with a mask many times. I don't like it. It detracts from the experience, but it's not as bad as you might think.

Cuddle without mask > cuddle with mask >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> no cuddle

Having said that, I've only done sessions with a mask up to 90 minutes so I don't know how it goes in a long session.

This thread reminded me of this video

    Edit: Yes, deal breaker.

  • @BuggleBear perfect. It’s hard to get Covid if everyone one you see runs from you in terror. ;)

I wouldn't care as long as there is eye contact. I know people some aren't comfortable with eye contact. In many situations I'm not either. But when it comes to cuddling, if there is no eye contact, I'm not interested.

  • I respect everyone’s right to have whatever policy they want based on their own comfort level / risk factors. However, I agree any personal policy such as requiring the use of a mask should be clearly stated in the profile.

I won’t cuddle someone who insists on a mask. That’s their right, I just won’t cuddle with them and that should be stated on their profile. One person showed up telling me they only cuddled with a mask and wearing jeans and heavy sweater needless to say that wasn’t fun, also claiming where no clothes covered you (for example hands) you could not touch hands.
This person ended up being banned, not because of me.

Dealbreaker? Yes. I won’t do so and will never ask someone else to do so for a multitude of reasons. If someone is having symptoms of being ill, we simply postpone.

@JohnR1972 I 100% completely agree with you. history has shown that even when you clearly state your personal preferences on your personal profile, someone (or some people) will have a problem with it, regardless if those are your personal preference, regardless if you’re being completely transparent so that others could make their own inform decision (instead of hiding / withholding / or lying about it)…. (Yes it is very strange), thought about not saying anything but screw that, I’m not gonna silence myself just to protect other peoples feelings, it is literally their problem, but this reminds me of the fact that NY state just removed the booster mandate last week & thankfully my employer followed , I was going to get it on the very last day required which was this Monday, but I will no longer get it as it is no longer required for my employment, but since others have mentioned that they won’t cuddle others unless someone is double jabbed -&- boosted , I see that this is very important for others out there, so I will update my profile now to show that I will no longer get the booster nor cuddle with a pamper on my face.

Edit: I meant mask not pamper.

  • Costume cuddles sounds fun!!
As long as it's latex free and won't give me nightmares...

Masks due to Covid? Whatever makes you feel safe. But for me personally I'd prefer to not if that's okay. Otherwise, maybe we can try post pandemic...?

  • I think it’s totally rational, but it could also be (I imagine) an impedance on the communicative experience.

    But.

After reading some of the above comments about Halloween masks, I may instate a “no costume/no cuddle” rule.

  • I would, of course, prefer to cuddle without a mask on. I would also prefer to go to my office or grocery store without one on. But I have health issues that put me at higher risk of illness so I wear my mask or choose to not go places when I can.

I have yet to cuddle with anyone from this site because of my focod (fear of covid or death; not a real phrase).
I have to weigh the real risk of infection with the mental health benefits of cuddling. For now that means I stick to chatting with fellow cuddlers and cuddling blankets & pillows.

I agree that folks should put their mask preferences in their profile if it’s a deal breaker.

I also like the idea of costumed cuddles.

  • No masks please

  • I would not like a mask on while cuddling.
If we're both vaccinated and no symptoms I don't think the risk is that great.
Plus with the close contact we will have anyways a mask is really just silly in my opinion.

  • I would be willing to cuddle with a mask if that made someone comfortable.

No masks. I feel like in that close proximity, a mask isn't going to do a whole lot anyway besides give a false sense of security. Plus that's the reason why I got the vaccinations. Get vaccinated.

  • A mask is a minor inconvenience. Don’t understand why being asked to wear one has become such a big deal for some people.

  • A KN-95 mask isn't that far off from wearing a diaper on your face. I wear them every day (KN-95 masks... Not diapers, yet) and I'm pretty used to them. It's almost comical when they shed a fiber down my throat and I stifle a cough so as not to freak out a client.

  • I’ve got asthma. Fortunately it’s well controlled but when it flares up just a little I’ve gotten very self-conscious about coughing around other people.
