How much housekeeping do you do to host a cuddle?

I just wondered if many people do deep cleaning before a cuddle. I dislike housekeeping, but I want to make sure I do enough.
Thanks for responding.

For me, the very minimum prep for hosting is providing clean sheets, a clean bathroom, filtered water, and a clean environment is a must. Having a neat and tidy space is a bonus, but not really essential.

I usually get hosted (by a pro) in a studio. They always vacuum the carpet, clean and fluff the cuddle space, and usually air-out the studio. Very rarely have I ever smelled a hint of someone's perfume/cologne or food. Another location/cuddler, is very similar.

I’ve hosted once at my place and made sure bathroom and all floors were clean, as well as making sure sheets and blanket were freshly washed.

I don’t need the cuddle space to be spic n span, though that would be nice. I’d Atleast expect the bedsheets/linen and blankets to be clean.

DEEP cleaning ? That should be considered basic household chore performed periodically , as needed to maintain a household . Deep cleaning would
Be pulling out the furniture and dusting behind. Same with kitchen appliances not built in . I would also say deep cleaning includes any carpet shampooing.

For a guest to visit it shouldn’t take more than 45 minutes to vacuum and dust , wipe down surfaces 400-500 sf of area including bathroom and public rooms + some time if there’s kids and pets

  • My hubby helps me out when I have a cuddler coming over. I’ll put fresh sheets and pillow cases on, turn my decor lights on, vacuum, and get my incense ready. While I have a shower and brush my teeth, my hubby will be sweeping the living room and putting the throw blankets and pillows on the couch. I’ll put water bottles in the fridge and get my bowl of treats and chocolates ready. Then I’ll heat up my scented wax and turn on the AC. Then it’s cuddling time baby! Get the sound machine going with some rain, ocean or summer night vibes.

I’ll make sure to have a fresh roll of toilet paper and freshly cleaned wash cloths out, clean the sink and de clutter. I’ll keep the door to my cuddle room closed so my kitties don’t come in.

  • This is all good to know and in keeping with what I think should be done. I'm glad nobody said they always dust the baseboards in the cuddle space. LOL.

  • In general I always maintain my home clean and organized……even more so if someone is coming over as a paying client. I always like to provide a zen environment and for them to feel as if it were a clean and comfy home to relax in. I can’t imagine having someone come into my home and walk through clutter to get to my room. I always like to put myself in others shoes……personally, I would respectfully cancel a session if it were hosted in a place not up to my expectations, cleanliness shouldn’t be an expectation. Im OCD so my input doesn’t apply to all 😝

  • I have a spare bedroom that I use for a cuddle. I always run all the bed linens thru the washing machine a few hours before the cuddle time and set out clean hand towels in the bathroom.
I set the AC in that room at 60 and have the Wi-Fi tv on a U Tube channel that has a neat forest scene with a bubbling creek and have my lamp on with a flickering bulb. Always have cold bottles of water and Cokes.
I take a shower about 15 minutes before the cuddle time. I like to cuddle under the sheets. When I travel with my RV that has a full bath, I do the same thing, but no TV but I do have my sound machine set to rain sounds. I always carry 2sets of linens for the bed in hopes I can find a cuddle partner on my road trips.

  • I really like getting all this input.

@CuddlesByDeep I had already thought about having cold bottled spring water, but I liked that you mentioned that.
@Drea728 Now I'm thinking about what a good husband you have instead of cleaning. Lol. I appreciate your detailed answer.
@waynewv That is a great pic of an inviting cuddle space. Wow.

  • I can’t tell you the level of clean that is necessary but here are some guidelines of what not to do:

It shouldn’t look overly cluttered (don’t let it look like I’m cuddling in a storage space.)

It should not be odd (don’t make people cuddle on a futon mattress on the floor.)

And it shouldn’t smell bad (mothballs will not help the smell.)

If these seem like obvious considerations then you’re headed in the right direction! :) Those are all things that have happened to me.

  • @Syins Oh my goodness. That's awful and nearly unbelievable. I guess that gives you some stories to tell if conversations ever lag.

  • @Syins a futon is 'odd'? I haven't heard anybody say that since the 1980s! (I slept on one for twenty years.) They were fashionable here in London for a time, but now you come to mention I have not encountered one for some years.

Funny how some things get all the way around our globalised western culture and some don't.

I can tell you, however, that a decent futon would be absolutely excellent for cuddling.

  • Not much.

  • I launder all of the bedclothes, vacuum, dust, and disinfect all the surfaces in the room. And myself. 😊
I also make sure there's cold water in the mini fridge.

  • Once I move I'll finally be able to host!! But, like friends and family, my cuddle buddies will have to be able to deal with me, and my place, as is...

I mean, I'll do the basics, but I'm not going to stress myself out to try and present them with someone I'm not.

And given my history, despite the best of intentions, my maximalist clutter-collector tendancies will likely be on full display before too long and I don't know that fighting that ingrained part of my being is the best use of my time and efforts ~ plus, for the most part, I really like my whimsically-eclectic asthetic.

Also [IMO], if someone has deep concerns around things being ultra clean and tidy, they shouldn't be handing over the responsibility for the space used to anyone, least of all to me. Instead, it makes far more sense for them to either host or hire a pro.

    TL:DR
Ultimately if they're invited into my home, it'll be to cuddle with me. Not to walk around my place with white gloves shaming me for my failed adulting and general lacking of the life skills they deem so important.

  • It depends on how messy you are to begin with………😬 lets just say its a very good thing I have an office space. Two ADHD adults and six animals in a two bedroom apartment do not make for a neat home.

No pets, I deep clean frequently but not on a tight schedule, about monthly.

Would be clean as in a weekly cleaning, at worst not more than 6 days before. Otherwise, I plan to vacuum and dust and tidy up before scheduled events. Spontaneous events are discussed as where is as is.

I eat at the dining table most times, so that and the kitchen will be areas of cleanliness.
Bedding? Fresh bedding if bedroom is requested, but nunya if the bedroom isn't requested.

  • No sense cleaning until I am house broken.

I live in a 580 square foot house with six small dogs. Housekeeping Is essential virtually every minute to keep things even remotely organized.

But the good news is the space is small and cleans fast.

  • My home is immaculate when a client comes over. I'm already a naturally clean person, but usually 1-3 hours can go into preparing the home, myself, and the cuddle space.

  • Interesting and helpful. I'm well within average so that's good!

  • @FunCartel 😂😂🤣

  • Usually, I make my appointment after my weekly cleaning. And in addition, I do some extra arrangements.

  • I don't need to do anything like this because I'm very clean. For example I have a bath absolutely every year, whether I need it or not.

  • As some have said, I’m clean and organized by nature, so I don’t have to do much tidying up before a cuddler arrives.

I do make sure that the guest bathroom is fully stocked with towels and toiletries. I’m sure most will bring their own, but I have a variety of hand soaps and other things readily available.

No pets and no kids, so no deep cleaning needed. I will ask if a cuddlers wants/likes scented candles. I never burn anything without approval, as some have sensitivities. If so, unscented candles may be lit to calm the environment.

I’d say less than an hour of prep time is required on my part.

  • @CuddleDuncan I resemble that remark!

  • [Deleted User]Btown (deleted user)

I feel like I should do some cleaning beforehand but then I lay down until the feeling passes.

  • @Btown LOL. I've considered this also.

  • [Deleted User]Btown (deleted user)

    @achetocuddle
I recommend it but eventually I have to break down and ask my daughter to come over.

  • @Btown It's nice when children are willing to do for their parents. I'm the same way. But I do other things besides housekeeping for my parents. I am not meticulous enough for my mom. Lol. She is 81 years old and still cooks, exercises and keeps a clean house. She is awesome.
