I feel as long as there is some intellect and understanding and respecting each other's boundaries, I don't see how age can be a problem. I am open to cuddling with anyone regardless of stature.
Even platonically I don’t cuddle with my parents. So anyone their age and up is going to remind me of them just based on generational simularities. The point is relaxation and if I’m uncomfortable well....there’s the problem. I’m just gonna go ahead and call them out. When older women ask me to cuddle and I say no, they back off and are polite. When older men ask me and I say no most but not all go on long speaches about how this isn’t a dating site, and I’m a prude, and rude. 1) it’s NOT a dating site so I can be as prude as I want 2) it’s my time and energy and I don’t want to. Idk why the concept of no is so hard for some 45+ men to understand but please take notes from your female peers.
And I see these same people being doubly gross to professionals. Like cuddling as a profession somehow entitles you to them. It doesn’t. Some masseuses or grooming professionals don’t do certain types of clients. It’s not any different with cuddlers.
I prefer women my own age for any romantic encounter. But since there's a want of cuddle members overall I'm open to cuddling younger. But would certainly prefer someone my own age or older. Always have.
People my own age make me feel really old. But recently, someone pointed out to me that I AM really old, so I’m working in getting over it.
My age barriers have been shattered here so the results of this poll are not surprising. Cuddlers are unique in this regard compared to mainstream touch wielders.
I suspect some of those who only want to cuddle with someone very close to their own age may be hoping for romance. Platonic cuddling shouldn't care about age like this were a dating site.
Eh, age I really couldn't care less. I never was able to find people to talk to within my own age range so why should I put restrictions on that now? I do tend to gravitate to older than myself but not that I actively work on finding older. I was just raised majority by my grandparents on a street where I was concerned at the age of 11 because everyone else got their social security check and I didn't. Basically, I know that in a way I am more conditioned to talk to people older than myself, and it is comfortable, but I also am open to all ages.
I have no issues with age or gender! Again, I feel like that is a main point if you're going to be a Pro Cuddler. I feel like you should be there for anyone in a time of need or desire for touch or momentary companionship. Although I agree there may be some conversation barriers if I were to cuddle with someone in their 70s +, but oh the things you could learn as well as helping them. Maybe all they want is to tell their story because they don't have family to listen. I don't find it creepy one bit to have someone much older to cuddle with. I feel when people put an age restriction while being a Pro they are also hoping for something else, not saying it's true in every restriction case. What I do find creepy is middle aged men that seek only woman 21 and under.
It seems to me like there may be a lot of different reasons why someone would prefer to cuddle or spend time with someone of a certain age. It's easy to judge their intentions but it's likely that it has to do with either an unmet need, past experience or their comfort zone. I am sliding past middle age and yet my career involves working with young people, so I enjoy spending time with people at different places on their journey and I gain different perspectives from each. I was raised by my mother with two sisters around, so I am much more comfortable having a conversation with any depth with women than I am with men, even though I do value time spent with male friends.
I suspect we all have preferences and often those preferences may change either over a period of years or possibily just with moods. I am hopeful that if I find someone to cuddle with they are honest with me if I don't meet their paramaters. Rather than be offended, I would consider that a favor. just my thoughts.
I know this thread is is a couple of years old, but I just wanted to add my 2pence worth...
I'm a middle-aged man and I've got no problem cuddling anyone 15years older than me or upscale of that. I don't have issues with 15years younger either, However I do begin to feel really conscious when their age goes downward of 25, especially if someone look young at that age.
I know we shouldn't stereotype, but I have a beard that at times make me look like a black version of santa claus, and I really don't want to be the bearer of creepy perv vibes, even if it is unintentional.
I so open to all ages of adults in terms of friendship and or cuddling!🤗🦸🏿♂️
This survey currently says that about 67% would feel comfortable cuddling someone with a significant age difference. Frankly, I don't believe it.
I am 80 years old, so I have no choice. There simply are no women in my age range located in my area. If I am going to cuddle, it will be with a much younger woman. So far, it looks like I'm not going to cuddle.
I have conversations with several women who tell me that they would be delighted to cuddle with me. The only problem is that they are all safely, at least 500 miles away. I've also had several local women tell me that they prefer to cuddle with someone younger. Most won't even respond to my messages, which are nothing more than an invitation to chat.
I think that if people were honest in their response to the survey would be far lower, especially with the women.
@GreatHornedOwl There are only two cuddlers in my area. Many people are in a similar situation. Unless one lives in a big city, this is simply a niche activity that many must travel for.
~ Sunset Snuggles
@SunsetSnuggles I'm in the Chicago area. there loads of cuddlers within 50 miles of me. In order to travel, I have hire somebody to stay with my wife, who suffers from Alzheimer's Disease.
Ballot stuffing and echo chambers on CC? Inconceivable! @GreatHornedOwl I agree. The percentages are probably skewed by those who have no bias and are more likely to vote. Many of those who have limits will not vote. There is a term for it that eludes me at the moment, but it is a phenomena involving guilt or shame of one’s beliefs even if there is nothing inherently wrong with that belief other than one’s guilt that it might be wrong—hence no vote.
So many thoughts on this topic…
@GreatHornedOwl your life example is interesting to me. I see it becoming more common as our society ages. They say the “average “ 5 year old today has a 50/50 chance of living to 100 ! Sounds awesome right? But living longer we see these health issues like Alzheimer’s and others come up. Spouses and caregivers are dealing with these issues. Where do they get that physical connection of hugs etc. ?
I think the future of professional cuddling will help. I think the example of the St Louis Mo Cuddles meet and greet is a great idea. I wonder if Chicago people here organized one and met people like @GreatHornedOwl they might be more comfortable with cuddling people of different ages. I’m coming up fast behind you , I’m not married, but do travel a lot. I’ve been blessed from day one here to meet amazing people who aren’t concerned with age.
I have been 18 for over 40 years with no problems cuddling the old over 30 crowd.
I am 28 age doesn't matter to me when it comes to cuddling. I have cuddled all ages from 19 to 64. There are other factors more important to me that determine whether I will cuddle them or not.
@PlushandPerfect Absolutely right. There are two men here in the same age bracket and neither of their ages bother me, but one is sarcastic and seems to frequently cause arguments while the other contributes positive and funny content and holds pleasant and engaging conversation. The latter's age would never stop me from meeting and forming a friendship, while the former I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole due to his negative energy. Attitude and one's treatment of others is everything.
@GreatHornedOwl thanks for sharing. I never saw how it must be from your perspective. My comment now seems to be in very bad taste, which was never intended to be so, please forgive me if it caused offence in any way.
I’m 65 and relatively new at this. At first I thought if was going to meet any cuddlers 20 or more years younger than me I would have felt creepy. Several cuddlers have told me not to have that fear. Yesterday that fear was not in that session. She made the atmosphere so calm and peaceful. I’m really glad this group does not treat you this way.
Originally, I thought I'd have issues cuddling someone 'outside my generation' and it made me nervous. Sometimes it still does before I meet someone, because I'm a typically anxious person. LOL I was worried if we'd have enough in common to relate, or if taste in movies, music, etc... would be at all compatible. Each time, I was pleasantly surprised. Some things are universal (like cuddling! ), while others (like music) gave us an opportunity to share each others' tastes while listening to each others' playlists, which reminded me a LOT like trading mixtapes to discover new bands... I've yet to cuddle with another enthusiast, and I imagine that dynamic could be different, but so far my cuddle experiences regardless of age have been wonderful.
Age isn't necessarily about how old you are. It might be about how much fun you have had.
My wife is 14 years younger than me. During my dating years I dated ladies sometimes who were 20 years in either direction from my age. I've cuddled with 20-somethings all the way 70-somethings. No issues for me.
If you think about human lifespan in comparison to the existence of the universe we are all just blips ok the space time continuum. If I were to cuddle with a rock that was millions of years old that would be an impressive age gap.
@xandriarain A rock or the Rock ?
I am a 61-year-old, care-giving spouse of a wonderful 74-year-old disabled lady who's no longer able to actively cuddle. I'm an enthusiast who sticks with Pros because I desire the extra assurance of propriety (real or perceived - maybe a future topic). I think every partner with whom I've cuddled has been significantly younger than me. In my brain I feel much younger than I am physically (don't most of us?). A few years ago, I cuddled with a wonderful 55-year-old lady. When we finally met in person, she said to me, "I'm surprised you booked with me since your upper age range is 45." Oops!! It was never intentional to block more "age-appropriate" cuddlers. I immediately adjusted my range. Sorry to any cuddlers I may have ignored up until then! I actually choose partners based more on location, profile interest, and - believe it or not - karmas, not to mention pre-booking messaging dialog.
I don't agree that Pros need to "be there for anyone in a time of need or desire for touch or momentary companionship." Are Pros allowed to take a day off? Of course they are! They are not first responders, and as therapeutic as cuddling is, they're not medical practitioners. This is not the suicide hotline we're subscribing to. Discrimination is allowed, and even Pros can have good reasons to do it. Prejudice, however, should be avoided whenever possible. They are NOT the same thing. Thank yous to all the 50-somethings and 20-somethings (and everyone in between) who have been willing to cuddle this hopefully-not-too-creepy grandpa! 😉
@shammahug - Thank you for considering new information. You are 100% forgiven.
I've had someone asked me before if I was okay with cuddling with someone twice my age and I do not mind the huge gaps. ^.^
I am just happy that someone would want to cuddle wirh me to begin with, regardless of their age
