Seems EVERYONE wants paid to cuddle anymore

  • @xandriarain If that’s what you provide and that’s what your clients seek, that’s great. But it’s not at all what I look for in a pro cuddler, and I’m confident I’m not alone. I want a mutually enjoyable experience. I don’t want to be taken care of and I don’t want a session to resemble therapy. I don’t pay for cuddle sessions for any expertise on the part of the cuddler or so she’ll be focused on my needs. I pay for cuddle sessions because it’s a pretty easy and fast way meet and share closeness with a woman without any further expectations on her part.

I think it’s really hard for two people to realistically come together and cuddle platonically it without either having the education or communication skills needed to do so,

Could you elaborate? What is hard about this?

  • @CuddleWho I have had a very long couple days and I’m extremely sleep deprived. But I will go back and edit this tomorrow with a more elaborate response

  • @CuddleWho So what's an average session like for you - do you talk to the cuddlers or just hold them?

  • @cde123 yeah we definitely talk. Usually we talk pretty much the whole time. To the extent that anyone’s emotional needs are being directly catered to, it’s almost always me caring for them, which is my preference. We lay around and cuddle and talk, maybe watch TV or listen to music or do something else. We don’t even necessarily cuddle the whole time. It’s just like hanging out with a really affectionate friend I think.

@CuddleWho @xandriarain you have reminded/inspired me to dig out my old Types of Cuddler thread, which I have updated.

By the definitions in that thread, @xandriarain is probably a Cuddle Therapist. But @CuddleWho does not want to hire a Cuddle Therapist, what he wants is probably one of the good variations of Moonlighter.

  • @stormydaycuddle I'm trying to heal from ptsd from a few years ago. My heart's broken from it and it's really hard to feel anything that resembles warmth, so a chance for regular cuddles sure feels like it could help. Thank you for having an affordable price and helping those in need. You are beautiful and I really wish you have a happy life 💕

  • @CuddleDuncan could you link the types of cuddlers thread? (I know there's a way to see where a user has last commented, but I can't quite remember how, and I'd love to read the thread)

  • @desi_babe it's on the Professional cuddling board now, having just been moved there.

A good place to start would be my big August 9 post on page 3, which includes most of what has gone before.

SO is charging a higher price on weekends and evenings legit? I've seen one local person doing this and I looked in the TOS and didn't see anything about it. The person I'm kind of interested in has a price listed. But in the profile it says add $35 if after 4pm or on weekends. Also another one says they have a therapeutic cat (feline) that they can bring in for a fee. These 2 people seem kinda not legit to me.

  • @mickey46834 Whatever the person charges is legit if they are a pro. The market will determine if they are worth that price. Whether you like it or not is solely on you.

  • [Deleted User]mickey46834 (deleted user)

I'm not questioning the price. I'm questioning that on the right it has a booking price, then on the left in the profile it says to add extra for weekends and after 4.

  • @mickey46834 They can do that. That is why you should always read the profiles for extra fees, requirements and other addendums.

  • @mickey46834 actually think of it as a discount for booking on weekday afternoons, as those are the times least requested. The pro is being smart by offering an incentive to actually fill the emptier slots on their schedule.

  • [Deleted User]mickey46834 (deleted user)

I don't know about being smart, because there are now 2 less people I'd ever consider cudding with. Sounds like something the govt or BMV would do is start adding more fees. The deeper I get into this the more it's feeling scamish.

  • @mickey46834 if someone wants to charge more for evenings and weekends that’s their right because it may be more in demand. If you can’t a weekday then it’s best to look for someone who keeps one set rate, it’s not scamish in any way.

  • I think it is all in the presentation whether it is smart or not. Charging more for appointments after 10 PM makes sense for safety reasons, but to charge more for a 7 PM appointment than a 3 PM appointment does ring hollow the way Mickey said it is written. She should present it like “a 10% discount if you book an appointment for 5 PM or earlier. That sounds incentivized versus a plain old rate higher at 7 PM which comes across as punitive to those only available at night. Marketing 101 says to make paying higher prices logically palatable.

  • [Deleted User]mickey46834 (deleted user)

How does charging $35 more after 4pm make is safer?? I agree if on the right side of the profile it was all there and easy to read I'd be more apt to just say... ahh ok well I get it. I know I don't have to hire that person. Just seems janky to add it on to the profile is all I'm saying. Or to add a cat for a fee. That makes no sense. Heck I'd prolly have to pay to use the bathroom also.

  • @mickey46834 It's probably because the price filter only works on one price, so it makes sense that someone puts the lowest price as the "official" price - but it's no different than the "39 one-way" advertized airfares - there are always added fees and it's never close to the advertised price. I personally don't like it too much, I agree it's better to put the higher price and then offer a discount for certain times, but I suppose that marketing strategy works (or maybe doesn't work, LOL) for this pro.

It's also perfectly reasonable to charge more during times it's not really your preference to do. Like if a pro doesn't really prefer evening appts or it's less convenient for her, but she's willing to do them for a little more $ as incentive for herself, she'll charge a bit more.

  • @Moxytocin

Did you just assume the pro's gender?

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

To me, a scam is she doesn't tell you about the higher price until you've booked. If she's telling you up front when the price is higher, how is it a scam? No one is forcing you to patronize her.

  • [Deleted User]Moxytocin (deleted user)

    @MCcuddles2 🤷‍♀️ Guess so.

  • [Deleted User]mickey46834 (deleted user)

Maybe scam is the wrong word. To me the price on the right is all that you should have to worry about paying. Just a quick look to see if you are happy with the price, not have to read a 9 paragraph profile and look for more pricing.

  • @mickey46834

I guess I agree it’s a little misleading to see someone’s listed price, click on their profile expecting that price, and then realize it’s actually significantly more expensive than advertised…

But good grief man just get over it. People can charge what they want and the site doesn’t have a way to display varying price schemes.

  • [Deleted User]WriterGF (deleted user)

Just sounds like peak and off-peak pricing to me.

  • [Deleted User]MommyMentality (deleted user)

As a professional human being, I find that quite rude ! As a professional cuddle therapist if I did increase my rates , I would apply my new rates (especially last second) to any sessions I’ve already booked for a previous rate, however I would inform my new/existing “cuddlies “ (as I like to call them) that my rates will be increasing in the future and how/ if increases will effect them.

Idk , last minute bomb drop seems unfair and really rude to me personally.

The majority of working adults are only available evenings and weekends. For a pro to offer a discounted rate outside of those more popular times means they are more likely to fill their schedule. The way the profile pages are set up on this site it does not give an option to list multiple rates so listing their lowest, off peak rates, and then adding a higher rate for peak times is one way for pros to get around that. They could do the opposite, list a higher rate and offer a discount for less desirable times, but then they risk being passed over for someone who has a lower rate.

There’s nothing wrong with any of it. If a client does not like a particular cuddler’s rate, move on to the next.

You should be reading profiles anyways, not just for rates but any pertinent information that you may need to know. We often put FAQs, allergies, blackout dates, discounts, travel notices etc in our profiles. I would want to know who I'm paying to cuddle. What a better way than to read the information that we've put in front of you.

  • Wait till cuddling corporations become a thing. Coin operated bathrooms, overtime charges for every extra minute, pay later cuddles with 25% interest (legally enforced), mandatory purchase of corporate branded cuddle uniform.
