I hate mornings

  • Love mornings. The most productive part of my day, but I grew up in a military family during the Vietnam conflict on a military base and they blasted reville throughout the neighborhood so conditioned to it from birth.

  • I chose "love mornings" even as I'm mostly lukewarm towards them. They are usually spent gradually accepting consciousness, as sleep is now out of reach until nightfall. I don't hate mornings. I accept them.

Mornings are a figment of our imagination, therefore they do not exist.

I organize my life around my sleep cycle as much as possible. Appointments, errands, shopping, everything, including work and hanging with friends, happens in the late evenings or at night. Seriously, reading your post was like reading my autobiography. I am definitely easier to get along with when the sun is on its way down. 😁 πŸŒ…

My Grandpa used to say early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise. Not sure about the last 2 since I'm not wealthy or wise but I always feel sluggish and out of energy if I sleep in late.

  • I used to hate mornings, but now I get up at 5 AM most mornings to go kayaking. It’s so beautiful out there before the rest of the world wakes up !

  • Staying up late and getting up late makes you happy, healthy, and late.

  • @Enyadreamz Wow, you are lucky to live near such a beautiful lake. Maybe I would feel differently about mornings if lived a the woods or somewhere beautiful and rural.

@melissa_em πŸ’― agreed! I am a much happy camper when I get to sleep in until later in the morning. If I have to wake up before 9 AM I am going to be upset over the fact that I had to wake up before 9 AM the entire day and want to go back to sleep

  • Very much not a morning person, but work open shift at work so I can have my afternoons/evenings free for what I want as opposed to just working and sleeping all the time.

My profile name says it all. Lol Have always hated mornings, even as a little child, and my circadian rhythm is all kinds of jacked up. When others are nodding off after dinner I’m wanting to chat about deep philosophical topics, delving into research articles, and punching out a 10 page paper after procrastinating on it all day due to feeling sluggish and distracted. (I have three neurodivergent Dx.)

  • @cylee1180 - I've never encountered a Great Horned Owl during the day, but some owl species are astonishingly docile during the day. I often find Screech Owls when I open my Wood Duck boxes to clean them, I've found that if I reach into the box and scratch the Owl's neck for a while, he will often cock his head over, so I can scratch the other side.

I'll carry him down the ladder and hand him to my wife, to hold him, then put him back in the box when I'm done cleaning.

As a neurodivergent person, the studies in the OP are interesting to me. Most of my friends are like that, but for me I LOVE mornings. Despite being a musician I really hate going to bed late; if it were up to me I'd be in bed by 11 and up by 5 every day! That was my schedule in 2020 when lockdowns first started and I miss it dearly.

People respond to this differently but I sorta credit it to having to get up super early almost every single day from age 5 to about 20. It's sorta stuck in me now and when I deviate for it for more than a day I feel off, severely off.

  • I'm not a morning person but I love the mood I'm in when I wake up and I love coffee even more. I'd go so far as to say I'm in a romantic relationship with coffee. I just like everything quiet in the morning

  • I'd go so far as to say I'm in a romantic relationship with coffee.

Ugh. I will never put cream in my coffee ever again after reading that.

  • @FunCartel even these creamers?

  • I’m not the greatest morning person but if there’s coffee….

    @OhioMike

@GreatHornedOwl Man! You're a bird expert. I saw this huge hawk in the middle of the road at night recently: 4 ft wingspan! Didn't know they got that big. I also once saw a turkey vulture in the morning also roadside: 5 ft wingspan!

  • Yup I hate mornings / I hate alarm clocks / snooze button is my best friend 😴 I wish I can go back to the 1400’s where a rooster would wake me up In the morning after like 10 hours of sleep.

  • @cuddles_ndream A rooster waking you up might be a little different than you think. Lol. But I might prefer that too. Alarm clock noise is singularly intrusive.

  • @achetocuddle i want to go to the country side that has roosters to test this out now πŸ“ lol

    Night owls >

  • @cuddles_ndream you do know where the bathroom was in the 1400's? 😲

  • @OhioMike hole in the ground πŸ•³οΈ / lack of running water … now that’s something to consider lol

  • @cuddles_ndream πŸ˜‚ yeah. My standard answer when peeps say they wished they lived in a different time....My response is no further back than the invention of modern indoor plumbing! yep, I'm spoiled that way!! πŸ˜‰

  • @OhioMike πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Now I want to research the history of modern day plumbing smh πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ @ me lol and I will πŸ˜‚

  • @OhioMike and @cuddles_ndream make a merry thread :) I'm liking this latest camaraderie here. Yippee!

  • "If mornings started at noon I'd consider it." ~ @KYtransplant

    Oh my goodness ~ Yes!!

"I'm not a morning person but I love the mood I'm in when I wake up and I love coffee even more." ~ @Nobodieshero

    Same!!

True confession... Until recently, I thought the question, "Are you a morning person?" Was asking if you woke relatively cheerful or like a grump-ass. So I've always thought I was one, until someone was giving me shit about how one can't be a full-on night owl, then wake up all cheerful between 9:30 and noon and call themselves "a morning person".
    Lol ~ whoops! πŸ˜‚

And @RainsCuddle ~ That mug is awesome!!!
