It's something that I noticed when I joined a few days ago. My first message came from someone with no photo. As a woman I find it incredibly odd for someone to not have a photo and yet they want me to meet them. If you have any issues around using a photo of yourself then don't sign up to meet people in this way. I'm simply not interested at all if you don't have at least one photo.
