My dad was a huge Domino fan and he taught me. Even after I got pretty good at it I didn't beat him very often.

  • @Btown dominos are really fun. I learned to play dominos mainly from video games that had it as a side activity. My family also loves to play chicken foot.

@Charlie_Bear Nice to know Domino's is still alive.

  • @sillysassy ~ What ever are you referring to? We only loves the kittens!! 😘🐈‍⬛️

@Charlie_Bear ~ I love that you gave Dixit a mention ~ It's one of my favorites!

I also like Onirim, 7 Dragons, Takenoko, Code Names, Bejeweled (not the App), Gloom, Goblins Drool Fairies Rule!, Dudo Dice, alt. Tenzi, Upwords, and a mess of other games like Clue (even though I've never won it) and Fluxx (any version!)...

And one I'd really like to check out sometime is Dice Realms!!

  • Hah, that sounds awesome @Shake49 !

Fluxx is a good one. So many variations of it as well

  • @quixotic_life I looooove Dixit! I started getting the expansions and very quickly ran out of room in the box, so I got a custom box from Etsy and even with every expansion the cards have now only filled half the box 🤓

  • My kids, their friends' parents, and their friends all love to play Ravine! We enjoy any collaborative game, really!

  • When I was a lot younger I was obsessed with some of the classics like Scrabble, Monopoly...Simpsons Cluedo. But I was utterly obsessed with a game called Payday. Man I miss those days.

  • Wasn't there a game with a clear pop up thing in the middle?? You would push it and it made the dice roll.... Hmmmmmm My brain is fuzzy this morning..... Wait a minute!!! YES!!! TROUBLE 💗🧡💜💙💚

Omgosh.... I just LOVED pressing the dome and watching the dice jump around. The BEST part is you knew no silly siblings could do any cheating!! Fair and SQUARE I say...

Maybe I only liked it because I was already starting on the SILLY AND SASSY part!!! 😊

  • @DaveTheBrit oh I loved Payday! My cousin had it and we played it soooo much. That and the MAD Magazine game.

  • Chess. I haven't played in a long time, and even then my record is something like 0-youdon'twantoknow^googleplex, but I like it.

  • Oh I love answering this one when it comes up!

    Battlestar Galactica
    Ticket to Ride
    Cosmic Encounter
    Wingspan
    Scythe
    Love Letter

  • My favorite card games are blackjack and euchre. I’ve played so many board games over the years. Especially when kids were little 😊. I like those games where you can chat about nonsense between actually playing . Does that make sense ? 🧐

  • Japanese Weasel Slap.

  • @CrissyKat ~ Um...?? This...??

  • Or maybe this??

Really, what is Japanese Weasel Slap?

    @quixotic_life Look at you ! you’re very resourceful 😁 I want all those !!!!

  • Na, I just made something up.

  • When I was a kid I went to an aunt's house and was introduced to lawn darts! My mom made me stop because I was throwing them in the air and trying to catch them . Dangerous as hell game , not sure they even make them anymore

Totally, my relatives always played a version of Rummy and the best part was all the conversations, stories, and hysterical laughter that happened during the game. 🥰

  • @pmvines haha yeah lawn darts were banned in the US, though the reason is of course tragic 🫥

  • I was trying to remember where this thread was and I feel so accomplished since I found it. I knew @Charlie_Bear started something lovely!!!!

I was just looking on MeetUp and found this cool group! Its not cuddling, but I thought it was so sweet that there is a group trying to connect people in a way that actually helps us have thoughtful interactions. Its online based, but its more interactive than video games or just discord etc.

Has anyone ever done something like this? I thought it might even be fun if people from CC joined a zoom sort of like this. Human connection at a different level.

It also brought to mind a lovely little coffee shop that a new friend took me to a long time ago. They have games and all sorts of things in a public place with a delicious menu and cozy atmosphere. Shout Out to @SlothHugs for such a fabulous find!!

@Charlie_Bear have you ever heard of Quelf? Maybe you'll have to bring it LAS VEGAS!!!

QUELF - Get Ready to Get Silly

    • You never know what random acts of silliness will develop when you draw a Quelf card. You may get a QUIZZLE card, with trivia that ranges from the obvious to impossible. Or a ROOLZ card with a rule you must follow for the rest of the turn – or game. STUNTZ and SHOWBIZ cards will get you up and moving. (Ever balanced a shoe on your head? You might have to!) And SCATTERBRAINZ cards get everyone into the game, with players taking turns coming up with answers to questions like “Types of Fish” or “Brands of Lipstick.” Can’t come up with an answer? Take the penalty!
  • I seem to recall an old thread months ago about people's favorite board games, but could not find it. In any case does anyone else use the website https://boardgamearena.com/welcome ? I found it a few months ago and play it with some friends and my dad, or sometimes random people.

I had made a forum post a while back but I certainly don’t mind a new one in its place.

Here is a link to that one.

Edit: it seems they have been merged ☺️

For board games just so many a lot of them already mentioned scrabble and monopoly are classics. Couple other ones that I don’t think I saw mentioned are risk and axis and allies.

  • Oh I hadn’t seen that site before, thanks!

  • Yahtzee
    Risk

    and of course, chess

  • Cards: Canasta. Rummy. Poker. Blackjack. Uno (and the variants). Canasta is my all-time favorite.

Board: Stratego, Risk, Mage Knight. Settlers of Catan.
