What is your romantic relationship status, and does that have any bearing on your cuddling?

Personally, I am forever single and without any desire to ever have sex or be in a romantic relationship. Friendship is what I seek, ideally so deep that people do feel a familial-type connection like brother or sisters, and there is no limit to the number of folks whom I seek this with.

The challenges of this attitude are probably mostly logistical in that life in practice is much easier if you have committed partners, related by flesh and blood or marriage, who can support you. I have an amazing roommate right now, but if he ever started dating again or left, then it would definitely throw a wrench in my life. I think if I didn't have a flesh-and-blood brother who was well-off and married whom I know I could fall back on long-term, I would be more willing to consider marriage and romance just for the life security aspect.

As far as it relates to cuddling, I also like being forever single because I would never want a potential romantic partner to ever get in the way of cuddling, which is often intimate in an emotional but still platonic way and could trigger jealously or at least a sense of someone inquiring as to why those needs aren't being met in the relationship.

Anyway, what are other folks' romantic relationship statuses, and what insight can folks provide about how those statuses work or don't for them currently, and how does that also relate to cuddling?

All commentary is amazing!

Divorced and not dating, so it doesn't come into play.

Single hetero and yes I do like sex and have had my fair share of FWB. However I value my platonic connections and feel they are just as important. For me it's about the connecting regardless of context, and I can care just as deeply and have as much fondness for a friend or cuddle pal as I can for a romantic or sex partner. I like this site because it seems the older you get, the more foreign the concept of platonic opposite/other gendered friendships are. I like that there are people here seeking that. I still have my sexual and romantic connections, so those needs are met , which means I can focus on platonic friendships with people as well and know how to keep the eggs in separate baskets so to speak .

I had sex a few times but, I never felt love. I don't even know what love is lol.

I have no romantic relationships, and I have no interest in having one.

It has no bearing on my cuddling, or rather, it won’t have any bearing if a cuddling friend is found.

  • I’m single. I’ve had open relationships. If I was to have a romantic partner, they would have to be OK with platonic cuddling. As well as having close intimate, platonic female friends.
The majority of my friends are women.

There are actually 4 words for love in Ancient Greek that are translated into the same word in English, muddying everything:
    1. Eros: passionate and / or sensual love
    2. Philia: friendship-type love that is as strong as that between siblings
    3. Storge: familial love like between parents and children
    4. Agape: the unconditional / divine love for all humankind

Interestingly enough, according to the Bible, a marriage is based in Agape, not Eros.

  • I’m single and filling the void with cuddles until I feel ready for a relationship again. When I enter a relationship I won’t come back here anymore (maybe to read the forums a little ;)

I am forever alone but not by choice. I want nothing more than to love and be loved by a special woman but I am afraid that ship has sailed. It has been 7 years since my last romantic relationship and after my medical incident in 2017, I went over 4 years without any touch whatsoever from anybody. Cuddling has been a godsend for me but I still feel incredibly touch starved. This is my lot in life…I shall one day die in my own arms.

Having said that, I truly am eternally grateful and blessed for the wonderful women who I have had the honor and privilege of cuddling with, both in person and virtually. Your kindness and compassion sincerely mean the world to me.

I just get confused on women sometimes. Why cant some of them accept a person for who they are and NOT for what they do. I care about hearts, not money.

Well, some say seven, others claim eight, some go as far as twelve.

Plato’s Symposium, and the various dialogues and debates within the Symposium, tend to agree on seven.

    • Eros – Romantic, Sexual, Passionate Love.
    • Philia – Affectionate, Friendly Love.
    • Storge – Unconditional, Familial Love.
    • Agape – Selfless, Universal Love.
    • Ludus – Playful, Flirtatious Love.
    • Pragma – Committed, Long-Lasting Love.
    • Philautia – Self Love.

Of course, a very small portion of humanity were ancient classical philosophers, so those seven types were very useful for their purposes, but less so for ours.

We tend, in modern western capitalist societies, to go down to three. Familial, sexual, and casual love of things, like cheeseburgers, or jazz, or sunsets.

  • I joined CC soon after my divorce to get the physical affection I needed, even though I was not ready to dive back into another relationship.

But I'm nearly ready to find love once more. I've already had a coffee date with a couple of women I've seen on occasion at my grocery store, but I haven't found "the one" yet.

Anyway, whenever I do leave CC, I'll nevertheless be grateful to all my awesome cuddle Pros who helped me get through these lonely times. They have all been Super Stars!

  • @Spud424 Your accident wouldn't deter me.

@DaniIsHere I care about hearts, too.

@StructuredQueryLanguage I think you'll find that most men here are single, or in an unhappy marriage. Many female Pro's have boyfriends.

I'm an enthusiast. I have a boyfriend; we just had our five-year anniversary! 🫠 He knows I'm here and he is very supportive of my involvement in the cuddle community. Before I dove into cuddling, we had countless discussions about comfort levels, boundaries, and what if's. We still check in and talk about how things are going. He knows many of my cuddle friends by name, and has talked with some on the phone, and even met two in person.

I wouldn't say my relationship affects my cuddling so much as my cuddling affects my relationship...it has increased our communication around boundaries and what physical touch means and doesn't mean. It also inspired us to cuddle more, and even to begin a new tradition of doing park cuddles together when we travel and arrive earlier than the hotel check-in time. 😊
