Personally, I am forever single and without any desire to ever have sex or be in a romantic relationship. Friendship is what I seek, ideally so deep that people do feel a familial-type connection like brother or sisters, and there is no limit to the number of folks whom I seek this with.
The challenges of this attitude are probably mostly logistical in that life in practice is much easier if you have committed partners, related by flesh and blood or marriage, who can support you. I have an amazing roommate right now, but if he ever started dating again or left, then it would definitely throw a wrench in my life. I think if I didn't have a flesh-and-blood brother who was well-off and married whom I know I could fall back on long-term, I would be more willing to consider marriage and romance just for the life security aspect.
As far as it relates to cuddling, I also like being forever single because I would never want a potential romantic partner to ever get in the way of cuddling, which is often intimate in an emotional but still platonic way and could trigger jealously or at least a sense of someone inquiring as to why those needs aren't being met in the relationship.
Anyway, what are other folks' romantic relationship statuses, and what insight can folks provide about how those statuses work or don't for them currently, and how does that also relate to cuddling?
All commentary is amazing!
