@wrench there's nothing wrong with being proud to be hetero, however inserting a pic of a straight pride flag to symbolize a counter to the LGBTQ pride month is pretty trollish of you and kinda classless 🙄
I do like the prison stripes on the straight pride flag. Seems apt for the kind of person who would use it.

I'd like to salute all the brave LGBTQ+ people out there.
When I came out as transgender, people told me that I'm brave. I've never felt brave. I live in a liberal area. My parents and my friends are all liberal, and had no problem with my new name and pronouns. At work, they were even more supportive than I expected - the VP in charge of my department called to ask if there was anything I needed. Some coworkers said congratulations. One noticed an app that was still using my deadname and told me so I can fix it.
When I brought my car in for an oil change for the first time after I started transitioning, there I was at the desk in dress and other feminine appearance. The guy behind the counter started saying, "You're M..." and upon seeing the name did not match the person, quickly changed to "Your last name is _____?" Everywhere I went, I was referred to as a lady or as ma'am. And on here, with the exception of one or two lame trolls, everyone is supportive. I have no need to be brave in the face of all that.
The brave people are the ones in less accepting places. The ones in Florida, Texas, and other similar states who are risking their lives every time they go out in public. Where the.r existence is being made illegal. The emphasis is on transgender people, but that's not where it stops. Those places want to outlaw all LGBTQ+ people. There's not much I can do from here, but I hope the LGBTQ+ people in those areas can escape to safer areas. Pride month may be coming to a close, but the prejudice, intolerance, bigotry, and hate are year-round.
@Unscented_Lemon You are absolutely right. I live in a very conservative state—the governor is an ex-sheriff and Josh Hawley is our senior Senator. My son’s best friend from childhood is transgendered and she has been assaulted twice, one of which put her in the hospital. She is only 5’6” and thin as a reed yet some fascist drunk bigot stomped her. You are fortunate to live in a tolerant area that is for certain. In some areas of the country getting rid of dickheads is like playing whack-a-mole.

I've already touched on the difficulties my friend has to deal with here in the Carolinas. They just LOVE the military down here yet still refuse to accept a trans person who served and almost died defending the country. My work had a pride day last week (free cupcakes!!!) and I was surprised at just how little engagement and support they were getting when I stopped by to socialize and asked them about it.
I signed up to volunteer a pride event in a couple months and had to sign a waiver in anticipation of protests and potential violence. It so hilarious how this anti-LGBTQIA+ crowd actually thinks they are tolerant : "we don't care what they do as long as they do it all in their own house and stop ramming it down out throats!" The irony of the phrase "ram down our throats" is never lost on me.
