Unsolicited Opinions

edited June 2023 in General

This place is ripe with self appointed experts who insert their opinions as truths into every crack and crevis . There are literally enough psycho babble and self inflated essays to fill a bookshelf . You can start a forest fire with the methane from all of the self congratulatory crap. Now, it's my turn to give my unsolicited opinion and you shall all accept it as fact. Because, well, I'm an expert and know all.

My unsolicited opinion is that Converse are overrated. Sure they are classic in both look and fit, but they really aren't very comfortable, are on the narrow side , smell like a bicycle tire, and lack diversity with graphics. For my money, Vans are a better investment. They are more comfortable, have traditional as well as wide foot selections, and have a wide variety of designs . Plus prices are on par with Converse and often can be found for less when their in store selections go on sale and clearance. Now go forth and spread this wisdom . Please mods if you so wish , you may make this a sticky for all to read and adore.

What is your unsolicited advice to the masses here on these cuddle interwebs ? Make it important, and make us believe you, oh experts of all

  • Your intro paragraph is literally poetry. I'm adding that to my truths. Fight me haha.

Some people are so disdainful of others that I can’t understand why they are here to begin with.

  • New Balance or Dunham for me. Nothing else seems wide enough.

  • Oh jeez... So I read the title and thought, "Yeah, I have a mess of those." And gotta say both those shoes suck if you have low back pain. Eeesh, no arch support? No thanks!!

Another thought that's really more of a gripe... Those flippen pasta companies peddling their health alternatives (quinoa, red bean, garbanzo, etc) can go straight to hell. Yeah I said it. It's bad enough my sauce is only borderline digestible, but the pasta is supposed to at least make it tollerable.

Except, this isn't pasta!! It's like I just put sauce on all of @pmvines used shoe laces and tried to call it food. What a disappointment!!

  • I have a long narrow foot and I love my Converse. But, I agree that Vans are a great shoe!

  • @CharlesInWI I for one like to mix my disdain with self righteous fury and a smidge of compassion (Although can’t go too far overboard with that last one) They’d kick me out of the super villain (troll) club.
Moving on… @pmvines Keds all the way, and those sneakers they sell at target for 10$
Also, I remember wearing my Vans down to nothing. They are pretty sturdy.

  • New Balance for me, what with my wide clodhopper feet

    We stand with @pmvines

  • New Balance. Unfortunately, they quit making the style I loved. Similar isn't the same.
I love seeing the kids wearing the white Nike and Reebok retros. "Everything old is new again."

  • I wear converse because they are much cheaper than weight lifting shoes and look cute. I also read from a leading expert that wearing shoes with too much support makes your feet lazy.

  • " I also read from a leading expert that wearing shoes with too much support makes your feet lazy." ~ @Nina_Lu

Omg ~ Lazy feet slayed me!!

    'It's funny because it's true'
At least in my case... 😂

At the Converse website one can order create custom shoes

  • @pmvines I’m surprised at you— everyone knows that Hoka shoes are the only way to go— ask anyone who is on their feet 12-16 hours a day! (I know a lot of nurses who wear them)

  • @Nina_Lu yup, I actually see that logic! I usually wear 3"-5" heels for work, wearing "flat" shoes (even tennis shoes) tend to make my legs and feet cramp.

  • @AllAboutSoul You're keeping your legs in a slight contraction, I bet you have good calves ;)

  • @Nina_Lu my shoes tend to frighten people, especially when they find out I wear them for 10-12 hours a day. LOLOL And yes, they keep my calves in great shape.

  • I walk on clouds in my Hokas.
Skechers, any kind are reliably comfortale.

    Birkenstock sandals this summer.

  • Unlike PM I have research to back my socratic omnipotent organic gluten free unsolicited opinion.

The one person who replied to my discussion on the cerebral awakening of the medulla place in your head from water boy and Colonel Sanders scene, I digress.

Red and Black ants fight. After picking them.up and rolling them together Bentley between the thumb and forefinger they fight. The red ants win 45% of the time, black ants win 45% of the time. The other 10% they walk away.
I AM OF THE OPINION ants fight more then they walk away.
I am now forming a new opinion that we as humans mirror ants in every way... More opinions to come folks.

Aren’t all tennis shoes racist, symbolic of white supremacy, bad for the environment, an unsafe space, triggering, anti LGBTQIAXYZ, anti-trans, packed with gluten and fructose corn syrup and bad for puppies?

  • My unsolicited advice:
    Eat dessert first.

  • @AllAboutSoul

    Eat dessert first.

"If you don't eat yer meat, you can't have any pudding
How can you have any pudding if you don't eat yer meat?"

  • [Deleted User]Mman (deleted user)

Yes, Another brick in the wall.

  • Glad to hear I'm not the only one stuck with wearing New Balance exclusively because of fat feet. It was quite a shock to learn a couple of years ago that I had been wearing the wrong size shoe my whole life. You'd think one of those teams I played for would have caught that. Or do your feet continue to grow as you get older? Maybe they just got wider from years of having to hold up the sheer massiveness that is my body.

  • @TxTom Seen them in concert 2x. 1x where they rebuilt The Wall on stage as the concert went on and then tore it down.

  • @TxTom reminded me of the joke:

    Q: Can vegetarians eat pudding?
A: No. How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?

I would like to say that I think someone is going through something rough in their life if they wear crocs in public. I went on Instagram and saw an ad for Pokémon crocs, so I bought them and now I too can broadcast my mental well-being via my footwear 😅

Edit: I also think the same for people that buy things from Instagram ads.

  • Light beers are gross and overrated.

The masses want dark beers with flavor not donkey piss
