  • Great! Now I’m drooling!! 🤣

  • @MissAdventurous 🥰 They are delicious.
That picture turned out so well on those. I need to do similar ones on my other sweets the next time I make them.

Also, your lagasna looks so yummy. It's been a while since I had homemade lagasna.

  • Breakfast before soaking in private hot tub at cottage -- then some hiking and exploring amongst the redwoods before tonight's dinner reservation. So cool and relaxing in Northern California 😌

Homemade muffins at the door this morning and the spoils of my fruit stand stops.

  • Don't mind if I do....😁

  • Felt inspired by this food thought.

Fifty thousand dollars’ worth of cabinets isn’t going to make you a better cook; cooking is going to make you a better cook. At the end of the day, you can slice a mushroom in about three inches of space, and you can carve a chicken in a foot and a half. So it doesn’t matter how big the kitchen is.” — Tyler Florence

  • Passion fruit creme brulee.....new favorite 🤤

  • All about the view 😍

  • @MissAdventurous

I love to cook and am a good cook, but now that I live alone I don’t really cook often. I do make a huge brunch after my Saturday 10 mile run though.

  • @emiilyy - O.M.G. I don't really care for mushrooms, but the picture you posted on March 10th looks absolutely delicious!!!! Wow, just...WOW!!!

  • Pain Perdu – The Mother of French Toast

What we commonly refer to as French toast today, had a pre-cursor dating back as far as the 15th century or earlier called pain perdu (lost bread), as it was a way to reclaim stale or otherwise "lost" bread. It is also called pain doré “gilded bread”. Pain perdu is so much more than French toast. While the concept is similar – somewhat stale or “lost” bread getting an egg-and-vanilla bath and hitting the griddle – pain perdu elevates it to an almost dessert status.

    Ingredients

    • Four thick slices French baguette or other rustic bread
    • 4 cups heavy cream
    • 1 cup vanilla sugar, plus more for sprinkling
    • 1/2 cup brandy
    • 2 teaspoons kosher salt
    • 9 eggs
    • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • All-purpose flour, for sprinkling
    • Powdered sugar, for serving
    • Maple syrup, for serving

    Directions

    1. Place the bread in a large bowl and set aside.

    2. Whisk together the cream, vanilla sugar, brandy, salt and eggs (or use a blender). Pour over the bread. Let it sit for a few minutes, and then turn the bread over to ensure proper absorption. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight.

    3. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Heat large oven-proof saute pan over medium-high heat and add the butter. Sprinkle some flour and some vanilla sugar on top of the bread slices. When the foam from the butter subsides, put the soaked bread in the pan and cook on one side, about 5 minutes. Flip the bread and place the pan in the oven until cooked through and custardy in the middle, 10 to 15 minutes.

Serve with powdered sugar and maple syrup

  • I wish I was eating Eggs Benedict in northern California right now, lol. Scrumptious food and scenery @MissAdventurous .

  • @LadyVel your treats look amazing!! How long have you been making candy?

  • @MissAdventurous
Can't quite put my finger on it yet, but I sense a trend within the Wellington family of yummy treats.

And thank you for the Pain Perdu recipe. French toast is my favorite---with waffles at #2 and pancakes coming in at #3. I'm a little awkward in the kitchen, but I'm going to try it. Of course, I welcome any of my cuddle buddies to come supervise the process!

    My cooking level 😂

  • Grapefruit brulee 😁😁

  • [Deleted User]MaverickLegend (deleted user)

  • Customer: "Waiter! This filet of fish isn't nearly as good as the filet I had here last month!"

Waiter: "That's odd, it's off the same fish."

  • @lonelytauros That's hilarious. I have what I guess some would call a peasant palate and I would rather have a Lunchables than most of what's on that board, especially that ole soft cheese. I like cheese with most of the nutrition aged out of it, ha ha.

  • @Nature_Lover_ I started making candy for the holidays yearly and for work about 13 years ago? One of my old coworkers always made candy for Christmas and kinda inspired me.

Everyone at my current job loved my PB balls the first time I brought them.

  • [Deleted User]MaverickLegend (deleted user)

@achetocuddle you and me both! Lol

  • Had breakfast recently with one of my sons. I went with traditional bacon and eggs and of course he had to have the bananas foster ! 😂

  • @MissAdventurous whoa! Loving all the tasty treats and meals ! How was the wine and do you have a favorite?

@LadyVel Trying any new candy recipes this year?
